horse pike in west atlantic city. that road has been closed westbound. the big question, how long does this last? can can't we get some better weather for the weekend, cecily tynan? >> and jim we certainly will. i know everyone is really tired of the wet gloomy weather. the worst of it is over. double scan live showing that steady heavy rain that we had earlier today has now pushed over western pennsylvania but this low pressure is still here. it's just spinning. it's what's known as being vertically stacked now. the surface low is right under the upper level low. when that happens, the storm system will weaken but it just takes awhile. we don't have a lot of heavy rain but i have been tracking this one batch that's been moving through new castle county. it's right over 301 between newark and middletown and you can see how this is pushing to the west. it's crossing 40 right now. it will be heading to i-95 and we will see a few more scattered showers as we head through the evening hours. but not as much rain as earlier today. the rainfall totals showing that this was a soaking rain.

generally about an inch to an inch and a quarter. trenton the outliar with only a half inch of rain and in addition to the rain falling from the sky, we have had that persistent flow off the ocean so that has created a lot of coastal flooding. coastal flood warning. moderate flooding expected. about one to two hours later in the back bays and a coastal flood advisory has been posted for the delaware river. what can we he expect heading into the weekend? it will be improving it's just a gradual process. the pick of the weekend will be mother's day. lots of sunshine, most of the day, and yes, temperatures in the 70's will return. i'll have all the details on that coming up in the full accuweather forecast. jim. >> cecily, thank you. it was traffic tragedy early this morning on route 55 in deptford township, new jersey. but it was also a criminal act as in hit and run. "action news" reporter gray hall has the story. >> reporter: friends of

32-year-old annabella aponte of glassboro new jersey are heartbroken after getting the newts she was killed in an early morning crash in deptford new jersey. >> there is people out there in this world that don't care. they to things and they keep going and they think it's okay and it's not for them to go ahead and just hit her like that. it is so sad. >> reporter: officers believe aponte ran off the road along route 55 and hit a tree around 5:30 friday morning then got out of her car to look for help. that's when new jersey state troopers believe she was hit and killed by another car. police say the driver never stopped. >> upon arrival we observed a unresponsive female in the left lane of state highway 55. >> reporter: neighbors confirm aponte lived in this apartment complex in glassboro. they say everyone knew her and loved her. her friends say she will be greatly missed. >> she was a loving caring person. she was a sweetheart. she always cared for everyone.

you know, she was just -- she was a loveable person. >> reporter: police have not released the make and model of the vehicle involved in the hit and run. it is also not clear what caused aponte to run off the road and crash. >> we do know there was a second vehicle involved. that vehicle has been identified. everything outside of that is still under investigation. >> reporter: as police work to track down the driver that left the scene friends of aponte are left grieving and praying for justice. >> mother's day is sunday. so, this is very sad and hurtful and i know it's probably just -- everybody's just upset. >> reporter: tonight state troopers are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward. friends of the victim tell me she leaves behind a 12-year-old child. in glassboro, gray hall, channel6 "action news." >> pennsylvania state police need the public's help identifying a road rage suspect. this is the sketch of the man wanted for shooting at a driver on the blue route in west conshohocken yesterday afternoon. the suspect was driving a dark

blue lincoln town car. the bullet missed the intended victim but hit his car. police say the victim is cooperating but investigators believe that both the shooter and the victim were driving aggressively. philadelphia police are looking to track down this man, edwin burgos. investigators say he is one of the suspects wanted for assaulting two school police officers in northeast philadelphia. the attack happened monday at cottman and caster. one officer suffered a broken jaw, the other had serious bruises. police arrested two other suspects. roger millington turned himself in on wednesday. the third is a juvenile and was arrested yesterday. driving the pennsylvania turnpike isn't ordinarily a treacherous affair but it sure was last night in bristol township. that's because somebody was hurling rocks from a turnpike overpass. "action news" reporter trish hartman is live along the turnpike tonight. trish, what exactly happened there last night and do police think they can track down the

culprits? >> reporter: well, jim, state police are asking for the public's help on this one. they're still looking for the people responsible for throwing rocks and bricks off of the bristol oxford valley road overpass here in bristol township. one of those bricks hit a truck driver in the face giving him 15 stitches, broken bones and now he has a message for those responsible. randy blake says he was driving eastbound on the pennsylvania turnpike around 6:00 p.m. carrying barrels of flammable materials when it happened. >> just as i went underneath the overpass to my surprise a brick come through the window. >> reporter: the brick hit randy in the face breaking his eye socket and fracturing his jaw. somehow he managed to maintain control and safely exit the turnpike. >> set my brakes got out walked over to the driver next to me and said hey, would you mind calling 911. he's like oh my god what happened to you? i said somebody threw a brick through my windshield. >> my oldest son said to me he says mom he goes he deserves a medal 'cause he could have

just pulled over on the road or he could have wrecked. >> reporter: we caught up with randy and his wife on their way to west virginia after a long night at temple hospital. >> the bad thing about it is these kids or people or whoever it is throwing these brooks off the overpasses they think it's funny. randy will have to return in about a week for surgery to repair his eye socket. he says those responsible are putting drivers' lives at risk. >> bricks and rocks and stuff like that, i mean, you know, look at me. it could have been a lot worse. i could have lost my eye. i could have lost my life. >> reporter: now state police say whoever was throwing these objects also damaged two other trucks last night. fortunately those drivers were not hurt. if you have any information on who did this, state police would like to hear from you. we're live in bristol township bucks county, trish hartman, channel6 "action news. jim. >> thank you, trish. three family members are under arrest tonight accused of running an illegal gambling operation in chester county. jamie sandoval his son hugo

and his niece elizabeth allegedly collected $37,000 in illegal proceeds. the district attorney's officers says it seized five gambling machines from two businesses. the trio allegedly rigged the machines so they never paid out any winnings. it was a solid show of respect late this afternoon for former philadelphia police commissioner willie williams. current commissioner richard ross and other members of the department paid their respects at baker funeral home in north philadelphia. the public viewing goes on until 9 o'clock tonight. another viewing will begin at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning at the zion baptist church on north broad street. funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. willie williams died at his home near atlanta after a long illness. he was 72. holy family college in northeast philadelphia honored the dedication and sacrifice of local law enforcement today with a special mass. this is what they call a blue

mass which offers prayers for the safety of police officers and remembers those who gave their lives in the line of duty. today's mass is part of events surrounding national law enforcement month. it was a heated trial today at philadelphia city hall. second graders from five elementary schools heard testimony in the trial of bb wolf as in big bad. hack covered of damaging property for blowing down the house of the three little pigs. the students heard testimony from one of the pigs and then deliberated the verdict and they found the wolf not guilty. we know how these things can can go. mayor jim kenney was even on handled for the trial. the event was part of law week 2016. the weather didn't rain on the parade of graduates inside temple university's liacouras center today. this was a record breaking commencement. the class of 2016 is the largest in the history of the university.

light showers but we do have this one batch of heavy rain. i've been tracking it for the past hour. that's rotating through new castle county delaware so if you're going to be heading south on i-95 from wilmington through maryland, are you going to be hitting this heavy rain and some of that rain falling at about an inch and a half an hour. and with the rain we're also getting the clouds. we are live on sky6 taking a look at philadelphia international airport. it's been a tough day for travelers and still with the low clouds, we he do have delays averaging about 36 minutes. so, it's getting better but we've got a ways to go. right now it's cool. 55 degrees our high, 56, 15 degrees below normal. allentown 52, trenton 50, millville 52, cape may 51 and wilmington currently 52 degrees. now satellite6 along with action radar showing this low pressure is essentially right over us but if you look at the radar echoes you can see how they're getting less vibrant. what this low pressure is doing, it's starting to

collapse on itself. it's starting to weaken and that will gradually bring us nicer weather. the problem, though, down the shore, we still have the piling up of water. it's also a new moon so that means more flooding tonight. the next high tide between 7:30 and 9:30 and like we've seen there will be widespread street flooding, wave heights five to 8 feet and yes, additional beach erosion tonight. now, future tracker showing tomorrow morning, don't expect a bright and sunny morning. 9 o'clock the clouds are in place even a few scattered showers but as we head into the afternoon with that low pressure really weakening, we will see some peeks of sunshine but when you get the sunshine and colder air higher in the atmosphere you also get a few scattered showers popping up. so, 4 o'clock we will see some showers not widespread, temps in the 60's and then on sunday morning, this is when a cold front rolls through. this will bring us a round of showers around 7 o'clock in the morning but what that cold front will do, it will finally kick that low pressure out to sea, so look at what happens by lunchtime.

the sun is back. temperatures close to 70 degrees. we will not just see peaks of sunshine on sunday, we will see hours of it. so mother's day looking pretty nice. gift from mother nature. sunshine returns. at 8 o'clock still a lot of clouds though. 54 by noon, it will be sunny, 64 by 4 o'clock 70 degrees but hold on to your hats. winds out of the northwest sustained up to about 20 miles per hour, could be gusting even higher. so the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, tomorrow still a little bit unsettled, some scattered showers. some sunshine by the afternoon but a lot of clouds the first half of the day. the high 66 degrees. on sunday, the sunshine is back. it's breezy and seasonable with a high of 70 and monday should be beautiful, mostly sunny very pleasant with a high of 72. on tuesday we warm things up to 78 degrees, partly sunny skies. wednesday also 78. not a washout but a few scattered showers and thunderstorms. on thursday, should dry things out, clouds and sun, 73. and friday the dad vail
