a pleasant good morning to you, it is 6:00 a.m. on this saturday, may 7. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." we're following breaking news, nearly a dozen people are pulled out of a burning apartment building in montgomery county overnight. we'll have an update on the situation. also two people sent to the hospital after a fight leads to a stabbing. details straight ahead. rain rain, please please go away. the delaware valley is soggy from a week of all that gloomy

weather. the big question this morning when will it all end? meteorologist chris sowers hopeful live he has the answer. he better has the answer. he has a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. chris when is it going to end? >> reporter: it will end tomorrow and later this afternoon. we have another day of morning showers and maybe a couple of afternoon showers not looking like a washout like yesterday. maybe a little bit better and seeing peeks of sunshine later on. today is not that bad and tomorrow is a million times better. center city skyline it's difficult to make anything out here, because the low-level clouds that are producing this, as we flip it to the radars. you can see the counter clockwise swirl over southern new jersey and new castle county, delaware. that's the low pressure center itself cut off from the main flow of the upper levels in the atmosphere. it's not able to move. a cold front will pick it up tomorrow and kick it out so sea

and we'll see return the sunshine. route 322 it's a slow go over the commodor barry bridge and into delaware county. we're seeing heavier downpours. also 202 in northern new castle county. 295 into woodbury, slow go. heavier town bores on the delsea drive. if you're not seeing downpours you're seeing mist and drizzle. low 50s, south and east. saint davids. 48. quakertown, 47. warrington, 47. glassboro, 56 degrees, cinnaminson, 48. agenda beach, 49 and dover, checking in at 51. forecast for today, morning showers and by afternoon there could be a couple of showers around we're expecting to see peeks of sunshine. 55 degrees by 1 1:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 60. 3:00 p.m., 62. 5:00 p.m., 64 that should be the high for today which will be better than the last several

a nearby cvs served triage for first responders tending to the injured. the fire is under control. "action news" will bring you updates as the investigation continues. new information to tell you about this morning. two men are in the hospital after they were stabbed behind a northeast philadelphia strip mall. this happened late last night in a parking lot in the 6200 block of bustleton avenue. one man was stabbed in the back, the other man in the hand. police say both victims are not their 30s, no arrests have been made. investigators are sorting out a motive. today philadelphia will say goodbye to former philadelphia police commissioner, willie williams. current commissioner, ross led a parade of hundreds of police officers into the funeral home. it was the first of two public

viewings for williams who died last week. he was 72 years old. a second viewing will be held at zion baptist church, funeral services follow. presumptive presidential nominee holds rallies in washington state. protesters gathered in oregon as the plane arrived there. oregon and washington state hold primaries this month. bob dole is among the latest to endorse trump while others say they will not. hillary clinton focused on trump during a rally she held in oakland, california. she claims trump does not care for equal pay for women because he does not think much of women. clinton's democratic challenger, bernie sanders vows to take his

fight for the candidacy to the convention. tomorrow he holds a rally in rutgers before heading to atlantic city monday. mitt romeny is considering a third-party candidate to take on donald trump. he met with william kristol to talk about an independent challenger to take on trump. romney said he will not run as a third party candidate. back in march he called trump a fraud. a local airmen pulled off the ultimate surprise, he returned home a little early from his overseas deployment and decided to give his little girl a surprise. >> reporter: she didn't see him coming, but felt a attach on her shoulder. it took the 6-year-old a minute or two to realize that the uniformed man crouching in front of her was her dad, home a day early to surprise her and her

way. the parking lot was part of an apartment complex. 8 adults and seven chin were evacuated -- children were evacuated as a precaution. heavy rain may have contributed to the collapse. nobody was hurt. heavy rain was likely for a sinkhole in montgomery county. upper merion township police say river road will be closed in both directions from swedeman's road to 4th street for an extended period of time while crews make the extended repairs there. speaking of rain, meteorologist chris sowers has been tracking the rain, you told us last weekend this week would be a rainy event. >> reporter: i said all day everyday next week there will be a chance of rain. it's been gray and gloomy, i don't know how they deal with it in places like seattle and

portland. it's been ms.errable, everyday i forced myself to get out of bed and off the couch and get to the gym. it's been one of those weeks. when you look out the window, you kind of feel the same way, gray and gloomy and low-level clouds and of course we have more showers out there this morning. we're zoom into southern new jersey, gibbs and western part of philadelphia seeing wet weather. where you are not picking up showers you're seeing mist or drizzle and cooler temperatures. today we're shooting for a high of 64. so better, at least we see the return of peeks of sunshine. tomorrow is the day we see full sun there by afternoon. bright blue skies. coastal flood advisories in effect this evening. you'll have flooding issues for the oceanfront and new jersey and the delaware beaches and

delaware bay in cumberland. we're dealing with a new moon because of the easterly windy and the rain we've seen over the last few days, and the new moon, tides will run two to three feet above normal. lang is checking in at 48. satellite and radar, showing there's the cut off low sitting over the top of the mid atlantic states with nowhere to go, but we have good news as you see to the west. this is the cold front, the kicker that will push it into the can a -- canadian maritimes. the jet stream has been up here all week long, once this low drops in from canada, the jet stream to the north, left this guy behind, it's been gray and gloomy and miserable, nine out of the of the last 11 days we've seen measurable rainfall in

has claimed the lives of three people one of them is a child. a couple of in south philadelphia dies when a fire breaks out in their home overnight. a suspect is behind bars this morning after going on a two day shooting spree in the washington, d.c. area. plus, hundreds lined the streets of philadelphia to say goodbye to former police commissioner, willie williams. first, our gloomy weather week seems to be stuck. we're about to show you the philadelphia international airport, you may have heard the rain hitting the roof of your home this morning. the rainy weather feels like the unwanted guest you know the one we're talking about, the one that comes over and moves in and never leaves. when are you going to leave? meteorologist chris sowers says hey, the sun is returning. >> reporter: we're booting him out. we've had enough at this point.

let's get you outside, we have showers out there this morning. what is that, gray, clear conditions? cape may, it was funny because a couple of people tweeted me down in wildwood said the sun was out for 8 minutes, the clouds rolled back in. they are picking up sunshine in cape may. they are seeing breaks in the cloud deck. more clouds expected in the late afternoon into the afternoon. we're seeing that across western new jersey and philadelphia county. this is philadelphia county here this is the eastern shores of the delaware river, palmyra, riverside picking up showers along route 130 and heading westbound on highway 30 getting into radnor and media seeing leftover showers. nothing too heavy, everything is just a nuisance, we've had enough we've picked up well over three inches of rain in the past ten or 11 days.

norristown. "action news" has learned that three people have died saturday of an apartment fire, two fatalities are an adult and the other is a child. all nine were injured on dekalb at oak street. the fire started at 4:00 a.m. and is now under control. state police and montgomery county d.a. have been called to the scene. new this morning, a couple was killed by fire overnight inside their home in south philadelphia. investigators say their deaths might have been preventible, flames ripped through a third floor bedroom in the 1700 block of moore street. firefighters brought the fire under control in 17 minutes. when the smoke cleared they found the body of a man in his 70s and woman in her 60s. this family had 6 smoke alarms, but they were orderly smoke alarms and the batteries didn't work, not one of the smoke alarms had a working battery. the commissioner said

clutter on the other floors would have made it difficult for the mann and woman to escape the home. the cause of the fire is being investigated. a shooting spree that terrorized a suburban washington, d.c. is over. police arrested the man whose suspected killings were personal and at times random. >> reporter: this video shows the dramatic moment when the suspected gunman was caught. eulalio tordil walks to his car and gets inside and police swarm the vehicle and surrounded him, arresting him blocks from one of the crime scenes. four hours earlier at 11:15 a.m., with thousands of customers in the store shots rang out. a woman hit two men trying to help her, shot, as well. all rushed to the hospital. where one of the good samaritans later died. stunt shoppers trapped inside. nordstrom rolled down their metal doors and locked us in

place. >> reporter: 11:50 a.m., ten miles away another fatal shooting a woman gunned down near the giant supermarket. police suspect eulalio tordil shot and killed his estranged wife at a maryland high school thrult thursday night waiting for her children. he was placed on administrative leave after a civil court brought charges against him for alleged abuse of his wife. it brought back memories of the beltway sniper shootings 14 years ago. he went to the same restaurant that the snipers went to. the irony was not lost on me. >> reporter: this area is breathing a sigh of relief. police in bucks county are looking for the person who threw bricks off an overpass along the

pennsylvania turnpike and injured a truck driver. this is what the driver's windshield looked like after being punctured by the brick. was thrown from an overpass in bristol township. the driver needed 15 stitches to fix the broken eye socket and fractured jaw. he managed to maintain control of the big rig and safely left the turnpike thursday evening. bricks and rocks, stuff like that, look at me, it cover worse, i could have lost my eye or my life. frightening situation there. it could have been worse for everyone. blake was hauling barrels of flammable material. state police are asking anyone who may have been driving in the area to call them with tips. new new jersey state troor are looking for a driver who hit and killed a woman on route 55 in dep ford township. 32 anabell aponte crashed into a
