>> reporter: norristown firefighters got the call and when they arrived at the location, flames were shooting from the home and four people were trapped inside. firefighters arrived and found a three story dwelling with heavy fire visible from the home. marko dimingo lives across the street, he saw two firefighters pull the girls out of the home and started cpr. >> reporter: officials say three people were killed, two adults and a child. another child was rushed to chop in critical condition. the damage was mostly from smoke she hopes the tenants can return in a couple of days, the damage to the 825 side where the fire started was extensive, it will take time to rebuild the property.

17 people are being held by the red cross. norristown firefighters went door to door handing out smoke alarms. while it appears the shoam was was -- was divided into a two property residents it is permitted for a one family home. this was a home that was doing something behind the scene that we were not able to catch. >> reporter: trish hartman channel 6 "action news." another fire this one in south philadelphia claimed the life of a man and a woman. this happened on the 1700 block of moore street before 11:30. witnesses say the smoke was emanating from the third floor, but the firefighters were having a hard time getting to it because of the clutter inside. the man in his 70s and the

woman in her 60s were pronounced at the scene. another fire on 4700 you hundred block of hazel avenue before 8:00 a.m. the victim who died was pronounced at the scene. another was taken to jefferson hospital. police in philadelphia are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found inside an abandoned home holly . police say the woman was beaten in the head, but at this hour they are not sure who wishes or who killed her. the investigators were on the 2900 block of rose hill street piecing together what happened. neighbors say the abandoned property was a known drug house. it was in such poor condition detectives wore haz/mat. they carried away the front door of the home for evidence. now officers were tipped off to the homicide after they conducted a pedestrian stop and

that person said check the home and they did. once they got inside on the first floor he this found a 20 something--year-old unidentified female who was bludgeoned to death and pronounced dead at the scene. >> reporter: police say a person is being questioned at police headquarters, but at this point they are not calling him a suspect. if you know anything about the crime, the police urge you to call the homicide unit. we're live at east detectives, jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." walter? thank you jeff. also, philadelphia police are investigating the death of a woman found dead on the street in society hill. at 10:30 police were called to south 5th street near lumbard for an unresponsive woman. medics tried to revive her but she was pronounced at the scene. the woman was in her 50s apart from that, there is no

information about her including the cause of death. for our delaware newsroom people showed up for this event organized to keep youngsters a safe place to get together. organizers took the opportunity to call for the end the violence that hit wilmington pretty hard over the last few months. northeast extension of the pennsylvania turnpike reopened after a crash shut down the lanes earlier today. it happened at 5:00 a.m. this morning. a tanker truck rolled down the embankment. the truck driver suffered minor injuries, no word what the truck was carrying. moving on to the accuweather forecast. it was another gloomy kind of day, but the sun peeked out here and there, perhaps a pray -- prelude of things to come. melissa magee has the check of the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast at the big board. >> reporter: we had gradual improvement for the start of the

after two men were stabbed in northeast philadelphia. investigators think it happened after a fight broke out last night at the bamboo sports bar and grill on the 6200 block of bustleton avenue. one victim was stabbed in his rib cage and is in critical condition. the second victim was stabbed in the hand. no arrests so far. some well-trained k-9 units competed in havertown. the police k-9 competition at

haverford middle school. they competed in an obstacle course and article search. all the proceeds will go to local causes supporting the k-9 department. health screenings for student athletes were being checked for risk of sudden cardiac arrest. the number one cause of death for student athletes. hundreds of people enjoyed good food and music at the south street spring festival. philadelphia's biggest spring block party continues until 8:00 p.m. tonight. the festival covers a 12-block stretch of south street. 100 vendors were there selling all kinds of arts and crafts. ♪

we should be for this time of year. 71 is the normal. 94 was set back in 1930. outside at this hour it was five degrees warmer in philadelphia than at the same time yesterday. coming in at 60. 59 in allentown. 61 in lancaster. 9 degrees warmer in lancaster than 24 hours ago. 50 in the poconos along the coast in cape may, 58. 51 in beach haven. we are currently underneath the coastal flood advisory and coastal section of delaware until 1:00 a.m. on sunday. the upper level low is sitting and spinning across the region which is why we have spotty showers in atlantic city county. as you look off to the west, we're tracking a trough of low pressure and frontal boundary that will working eastward later tonight into the start of sunday. in the wake of that, finally the sun will return. the call from accuweather, over the next 12 hours, it's mostly cloudy, a shower arrives late after midnight.
