jersey. within the last 30 minutes authorities captured an escaped prison after nearly a week on the run. chopper 6 hd was overhead as police surrounded arthur buckle on the side of the garden state parkway in ocean county. annie mccormick is live in lacy township with details on the arrest. annie. >> reporter: sarah, we want to take you back to the dramatic video of the capture, authorities have been waiting for almost a week. you can see right there, after 11:00 a.m., the activity started to pick up, around double trouble state park and officers got out of the park and headed toward the parkway after receiving word that escapee arthur buckle was nearby on the parkway. you can see the escaped inmate in custody after he was capture near mill mark 76. he was taken into custody without incident not far from where he was spotted late sunday

night at the forked river rest stop. in fact a tenth of a mile away. late sunday there was surveillance video that showed buckle inside. state police say through family members he was planning surrender at the stop and never followed through and took off sometime last night. tactical and k89 -- k-9 flooded the area. schools remained open, but all outside activities were cancel. he escaped last tuesday from the ancora unit bayside state prison in camden county. buckle is a dangerous man serving a sentence for aggravated assault and drugs and burglary, but he served 14 years in prison for killing a 10-month-old child. now back out here live, the department of corrections we are told is the main agency, they

killing three people in maryland will be in court this afternoon. eulalio tordil is accused of killing his estranged wife on thursday and killing two other people on friday. the federal security officer faces several charges including three counts of murder. since his arrest on friday, eulalio tordil has not shown any remorse. firefighters are working to get control of a massive fire burning in canada. officials say weather conditions are helping to slow the fire from spreading. 500 firefighters are working around the clock that has grown to 400,000 acres. 80,000 people have been evacuated and 16 homes destroyed. the power grid is damage and water is not drinkable. there's no time line for allowing any residents to go back. pn -- penn state university said settlement for jerry sandusky date back to 1971.

breaking news out of lacey township, ocean county where a prisoner who escaped last week has been caught. "action news" was the first to report the capture of arthur buckle within the last hour. that's right, chopper 6 hd got this exclusive video over the garden state parkway. buckle escaped from the prison last tuesday and had been on the run ever since.
