on? i ain't got nothing to give you. >> i really thought they were going to kill us because it was just at that point it was just the two of us and then they brought him in i just thought it was just the end of it. >> again, if you can imagine it was the wrong house the intruders left without hurting anyone but see that picture there, the family's cat princess has been missing since that break in. they believe she ran out as the thieves broke in and they are hoping that someone will return her safely. in the meantime, detectives are reviewing security cameras from the area to see if they captured anything that can help them piece this together and locate those intruders. what on ordeal for this family sharrie. >> let's hope police get some leads on this. "action news" has confirmed there's a tentative agreement to help save atlantic city from financial collapse. the deal between new jersey senate and assembly leaders would give the city 150 days to come up with a plan to cut spending in half before the state steps in to take over.

a formal bill has not been introduced as of yet. atlantic city is more than $550 million in debt. a list of coconspirators who were never indicted in the new jersey bridgegate scandal will remain private at least for now. a federal judge had ordered the names to be released by noon today but she delayed the deadline until next tuesday because someone whose name is on that lit is fighting to keep it private. the judge will use the extra time to consider the person's request. the only people charged in the schemes that closed the lanes on the george washington bridge are two of governor chris christie's form are allies and they pled not guilty. governor christie denies having any role. >> the eagles opened up rookie camp today. that means new quarterback carson wentz took the field with his brand new teammates. before practice he talked to the media about his first couple weeks with the birds. jeff skversky live now in south philadelphia with more on the team's top draft pick.

through trenton and parts of burlington county, a wet right along the new jersey turnpike as you head north of burlington county and as you could see some downpours no, lightning strikes, no thunderstorms from surf city all the way down to towards sea isle city and cape may and the heaviest between oceanville atlantic city will be sliding to the north and east over the next 45 minutes while it's starting to dry out or at least the rain is starting to sees in hammonton. as we look at the numbers, 66 in allentown, 68 in reading, 66 philadelphia, 72 in dover where the nascar race a all weekend long. we have the truck race today and also it's feeling very humid out there with that rain. dewpoints are into the low and some areas mid 60's so helping to fuel some of those downpours passing through but the dewpoints will drop off tonight and tomorrow and a bit more drier air comes in overnight the beginning of the weekend. so, there it is, one front passing through wiping that rain away so if you have plans this friday evening, the sun is going to be returning before sunset west of

philadelphia and the skies clearing out as we go through the evening hours. numbers fall into the upper 40's so there will be a bit of a chill tomorrow morning. allentown reading lancaster 51 millville, 54 in wilmington with the early showers now exiting the coast and then as we go into the weekend, changes do come yet again. we start with sunshine on saturday morning. a good chunk of saturday is going to be sunny, nice and very warm. clouds start to increase early in the afternoon and by 5 o'clock, we start to see some random downpours popping up even some thunderstorms. a cold front arrives and there could be a line of some gusty downpours and thunderstorms passing by during the evening hours. then that pushes off the coast and a major chill comes in over the weekend. tomorrow's forecast high 76. the normal 73. the normal bumps up to 74 sunday but our forecast high sunday is just 59 degrees as some really rare chilly air for this part of may comes in the second half of the

>> ♪ >> we are still working to learn the name of the man who died after getting hit by a car in olney. the action cam was on roosevelt boulevard near c street where the crash happened around 11:30 last night. police say the victim was hit and thrown into the outer lane. that person died at einstein hospital overnight. the driver did stop and so far has not been charged. >> dozens of new american citizens were sworn in this afternoon in west philadelphia. the naturalization ceremony was a celebration of asian-american and pacific islander heritage month. the 60 people sworn in come from 33 different nations including cambodia egypt and jamaica. hundreds of students just got help paying for their

josh carson has quite the story to tell. friday morning while out fishing he spotted a black bear in the wissahickon valley park. >> just threw my line in got a couple fish heard some noise turned around thought it might be a coyote or ground hog at to hundred pound black bearism he says this is no fish tale and he has pictures. he's not alone. other people also spotted the bear thursday evening. friends of wissahickon posted these pictures of the animal on its facebook page. >> my first thought was is this royal. >real.>> reporter: carson was shocked to see the animal feet from his fishing hole. >> if it came near me i would have been definitely up to my waist in the water. i would have swam the other way. there's no way we would have had a standoff. wildlife officials are warning people to keep a close eye on their pets. >> it doesn't come out looking for humans to eat. >> reporter: typically black bears don't like the city life but wildlife workers say this bear is probably looking for a mate and neater tour and

wandered too far. game commission officer gary check says in his 17 year career this is the second report of a black bear in philadelphia. >> there's about 20,000 bears in pennsylvania and we don't have very people attacked by bears at all throughout the whole commonwealth. basically when people get attacked it's if they come between the mother and cubs or people are sleeping in their tents and they have food in the tender the bear goes up to the tent and once wants the food not the person. >> reporter: and wildlife officials say that if you are approached by a black bear in the wild raise your arms and appear bigger than that bear make lots of noise in hopes of scaring the animal away. as for this particular black bear, officials hope to track it down tranquilize it and then move to it a safer place out in the wild. live in wissahickon valley park gray hall channel6 "action news." sharrie. >> gray, we are all taking note of what to do if we're anywhere near that black bear especially adam. thanks, gray. meantime philadelphia detectives are looking for the man who burglarized an

apartment complex twice. the person they are looking for was caught on surveillance trying to break into the building on veree road. investigator say he was spotted at the property in early march and then again at the end of april. you're asked to call police if you recognize him. >> whoa. >> talk about a close call. the linwood police department is looking for the driver that nearly hit an officer. it happened last night just before 9:00 on new road near sea view avenue. police say the officer was going to help a driver who was stranded on the side of the road when this happened. that's when the other car sideswiped the officer's vehicle as he was getting out. thankfully the officer was not hit. >> investigators are looking into the cause of a fire in the bridesburg section of philadelphia. chopper6 was over that fire as crews arrived on the scene this morning. smoke was coming from the roof of a warehouse in the 2200

dedicated the reading area of their library to their former first grade teacher, donna. the 66-year-old was killed in a car crash back in january. her family joined her former colleagues at that school for what was an emotional dedication today. it was graduation day today for students at one mercer county university but one student in particular had extra reason to celebrate. gary matthews also took part in the surprise today. callan will be honored on field tonight at the phillies game. >> here at the big board now and pregnancy isn't always he's z but imagine this t you're expecting a little one when you receive an unexpected cancer diagnosis. with mom's health now also on the line, a south jersey doctor is breaking the medical mold, helping those women conquer cancer and deliver healthy babies. something that was once considered unthinkable. susan busby was nine weeks into her pregnancy when she got a stunning diagnosis. stage three colon cancer. >> i didn't know what was going to happen with the baby, you know, i'd never heard of anybody with cancer while they were pregnant. >> several doctors said termination was her only option, that chemotherapy would endanger the baby. but dr. alleys cardonic at cooper university lop disagreed. for nearly 20's years she

worked with pregnant women facing cancer. her office wall is still filled with pictures of 400 plus cases she continues to follow. >> now we're seeing more types of other cancers as well. >> the doctor says balancing treatment with pregnancy is usually a matter of timing. >> organs are developing in the first trimester. >> after surgery to remove her tumor susan will to wait a few weeks until her second trimester to begin chemotherapy. sometimes the drugs are switched to ones with a better track record for pregnancy. susan actually had fewer side effects than she expected and she had frequent ultrasound scans. >> she was growing on schedule the whole time. >> chemo was stopped a few weeks before autumn hope busby arrived by c-section at a healthy 7 pounds, 10 ounces. but it resumed two weeks later. susan is now cancer free and part of dr. cardonic's

>> the white house is laying out its new directive which tells public schools to allow transgendered students to use bathrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity. the directive is not a law but federal officials believe bathroom rights fall under title ix which prohibits sexual discrimination in education. >> what the framework does provide is advice for how school administrators can protect the dignity and safety of every student under their charge. >> now at schools -- if schools choose not to follow the order they risk losing federal funding. leaders in texas and north carolina have already vowed to fight the order. >> homeland security officials are asking fliers to be patient as airport security

line wait times continue to increase. at some airports lines have topped an hour and a half. that's because the t.s.a. has fewer screeners and has tightened security procedures. this afternoon officials said the government has a plan to deal with the long lines but that it will not neglect its duty to stop terrorists. >> ♪ >> big talkers now and if there's any way to prepare for disaster, it is this. a most compelling video out of poland and it really shows true heroism. a train driver commended for warning his passengers of an upcoming collision. check it out. the dashcam video shows the train driver running through the cars yelling at passengers to brace for impact. this after he noticed a truck was blocking the tracks ahead. those passengers listened they can all duck. the train is going about 60 miles an hour and there are about a hundred people on board. now, thanks to that driver and his quick reaction, no one was hurt when that train did

collide with that truck. and it is a beautiful act of kindness out of georgia that's warming hearts all across social media. this is the photo behind thousands of likes and shares. a police officer embracing a toddler in the emergency room. officer james hers the is embracing the 16 month old as the little boy awaits an examination. you see, neighbors found the little guy walking the streets all by himself without a parent. they called 911 and officer hertz responded. >> i'm father of small boys. it was natural to want to soothe this child. i didn't expect any of this. it's been quite overwhelming actually. >> he says he hopes this shows what goes on behind the scenes compassion and caring between police and the people they serve which just so happens that his moment was captured on camera and now going viral. >> extraordinary guy.

>> precious moment. >> and the little guy is doing okay. >> good. glad tother. thanks alicia. let's get another check on the roads right now. >> all right, matt pelman standing by in the "action news" traffic center. hi, matt. >> we could use a little compassion on the traffic front this afternoon. we're getting beat up on this wet friday afternoon with a whole bunch of accidents as you try and head home but the good news brian and sharrie is that most of the crashes like this one on woodhaven road eastbound are pretty minor in nature. it is taking out the left lane though but the delay here doesn't look too bad. delays elsewhere don't look so good as you look at the speeds along 95, many in the teens. a lot of 20's on the schuylkill. will a bunch of other accidents this afternoon. one was on the boulevard northbound by devereaux. had one at kensington in hunting park by the taco bell. most of those crashes in the city are starting to clear out which is good news. but the regatta won't be clearing from the kelly drive for another day or so, so the kelly does remain blocked. that's putting extra traffic on the schuylkill where you see speeds like 12 and an unpleasant 17 miles per hour. out in montgomery county a couple issues along egypt road. traffic light troubles at willow brook drive an crash

will see some splashes of sun before the sun sets here this evening. then we catch a break most of saturday will be dry and sunny with very warm temperatures but another system on its heels comes in tomorrow afternoon and could spark more downpours and even some gusty thunderstorms. so, at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning, sunshine still in control. so get out there and enjoy most of your saturday but by about 2, 3 o'clock in those far northwestern suburbs some of those downpours and thunderstorms popping up. then it arrives into philadelphia during the evening hours and again it could be a solid line passing through but then it's quickly out of here as we clear out here on saturday night. so, what to expect here tomorrow afternoon. winds 40 to 50 miles an hour with some of the thunderstorms dangerous lightning even some very small hail. some of the storms could be isolated severe because of those strong wind gusts. 59 on sunday, though, winds 35 miles an hour behind that front, temperature dropping 15 degrees below average.

sunshine giving way to some clouds on sunday as that cooler air sets in. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, sun with some gusty afternoon thunderstorms tomorrow but a warm high of 76. windy with a may chill on sunday, highs only in the 50's across much of the area and then to begin on monday morning, here is the snapshot of future tracker. we could drop into the upper 30's in those northwestern suburbs, 38 in allentown, right around 42 in philadelphia. the record low for philadelphia monday morning is 40 degrees. the afternoon sun and clouds, only 63 and then the clouds thicken up on tuesday, 66 and then there could be some rain tuesday night into wednesday with some late sun returning at 68 degrees and then thursday and friday bright, nice, lots of sun and finally we can settle right around that 70-degree mark. so we get some storms throughout the afternoon and a winter chill by sunday night, monday morning. >> all right. adam, thank you.
