masked gunman targets a popular sports bar in center city. we're starting -- ending the weekend with the colder temperatures, some of the coldest air of the week is on the i -- way. let's go outside to chris sowers. >> reporter: people are in heavier coats and i saw a couple of folks wearing hats out there, it's not feeling like the middle of may, more like the end of march. 54 degrees in philadelphia. it's blustery. with the wind it feels like 46. 52 in allentown. reading, not out of the 40s. trenton, 56. dover, 56 and cape may a pair of 5s. blustery with the winds. wind speeds 32 in wilmington, 26 in philadelphia. 31 in dover. satellite and radar with an upper level low approaching from

accuweather seven-day forecast in just a few minutes. guys. developing this noon, a person is in custody after a deadly fire at a bucks county motel. the blaze broke out early morning at the lincoln motel in bensalem. trish hartman has been following the story all morning long. trish what is the latest information on the situation? >> reporter: police just wrapped up their investigation at the lincoln motel they were here for almost 8 hours after they were called for the deadly fire. police say one person is dead and one is in custody. no word yet on charges for the suspect. investigators are trying to piece together how the fire started. firefighters were called to the lincoln motel on lincoln highway at 2:30 a.m. arrived to heavy smoke and flames. guests woke up to fire alarms and screaming. i was scared, we were going to go back to sleep. when i heard someone screaming get out, get out, fire. this is not a joke it's real.

officers were called in the early morning hours for the fire. the fire suspected suspicious in nature. we have a confirmed victim inside. police say the fire was under control in 30 minutes. one victim was discovered inside the motel and some were rescued from the second floor. one guest said he heard someone screaming for help when he made his way out of the building. i heard a guy screaming help help i couldn't get out of the bed. we couldn't walk past, it was too smoky. back here live at the lincoln motel you can see a number of broken windows and broken glass around from where firefighters had to enter the building. there are a number of businesses in the area and the police spent time looking for video that may

help in the havings. we in the investigation. we are waiting to learn the identity of the victim and the suspect. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." it is now 12:05, a woman in her early 20s is fighting for her life after being shot 6 times in the tioga section of philadelphia. it happened on the 3800 block of north 13th street. the woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. two men were hurt trying to escape the gunfire. police are trying to piece together what happened. officers found more than 30 shell casings at the scene. police are searching for a masked gunman who held up a center city sports bar. the suspect walked in the tavern on broad and took cash from the manager and ran off. it's located on the 200 block of south broad. nobody was hurt in the holdup. police are which canning -- checking surveillance for any

leads. police are looking for the cause of a crash of two teens on the their way home from their prom. they died hours after their prom at bridgeton high school. they attended an after-prom party in ocean city and were heading home. the car veered off route 49 in maurice river township and hit a tree. those who knew the families are trying to come to grips with the sudden loss. they are meant to enjoy this moment. >> reporter: we learned there were two other girls in the car, both in the hospital. the car crashed the same day as the funeral for another student who died in a crash two weeks ago. the search continues for the cruiseship passenger who fell overboard in the gulf of mexico.

>> reporter: carnival crews officials trying to figure out how the mother of four went overboard plunging into the gulf of mexico. the mysterious fall apparently going unnoticed for hours. it's time -- it's hard to have a fun vacation when somebody fell overboard. she fell from ten stories up. officials believe it happened at 2:00 a.m., her traveling companions did not report her as missing until much later in the day. when they did, passengers say the ship was put you on lockdown. the cabin stewart came in and said he was here to check the cabin, the shower, the bed and the balcony. >> reporter: they checked the surveillance videos finding the fall was captured on camera. we have concluded from our cameras it appears she may have

fallen in the water early in the morning. >> reporter: the crews notified coast guard friday evening 15 hours after she went overboard. they did not know that the passenger went overboard until they searched through the cameras 15 hours later. the crews line saying they followed standard protocol. the cruise line saying overboard incidents are very rare. the coast guard admits it will be tough to find her after so much time, because the water is so warm they believe she could still be alive and so for now, they will keep searching. marcy gonzalez, abc noose -- news, bayone new jersey.

president obama will speak at the rutgers 250th commencement address. 12,000 graduates are expected to attend the ceremony that begins in 20 minutes. the action cam was at the camden campus this morning where hundreds boarded buses for the main campus. some told "action news" they were overwhelmed that the president will address them. i'm excited just to to see barack obama our first black president and the last year of his presidency, i'm very excited to see him. it's the result of a two year lobbing effort by the school and the congressional delegation. republican donald trump and vice president biden will be in philadelphia attending the penn 's college of arts an sciences graduation.

and cool, that's the call from accuweather. it will be better tomorrow warmer later this week, when i come back i'll have the warmer numbers in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. now the latest on a deadly fire at a bucks county motel. it broke out at the lincoln motel in bensalem. this afternoon we know one person is in custody, trish hartman is following the story, she is live at the scene with more, trish, what can you tell us about this? >> reporter: gray, like you said one person is in custody, police actually just wrapped up their investigation here at the scene, i'll step out of the way you can see the damage now that the vehicles have gone. a number of broken windows from firefighters fighting the blaze earlier. firefighters stopped at the nearby businesses along route 1 looking for surveillance video that may help them piece this altogether. as soon as the guy opened the door, you seen the orange flames. jay recalls a harrowing

scene. i heard a man saying help me i'm trapped on the bed, i don't know if away tied up or what. me and the cop heard it, we couldn't get into the door because it was too much smoke. >> reporter: one person died in the fire and one is in custody. it started around 2:30 a.m. officials say thick smoke was billowing from two rooms on the first floor. firefighters had to rescue several people from the second floor and had the blaze under control in 30 minutes. several were taken to the hospital for smoke. red cross responded to help guests giving out blankets in the chilly morning hours. witnesses say they were lucky to get out. everybody was screaming get out, get out, get out, there's fire, and get out. so i ran as fast as i can. >> reporter: we are still waiting to learn the name of the

victim in this deadly fire, no word on charges for the suspect who is in custody in connection with the fire. reporting live in bensalem, trish hartman channel 6 "action news." thank you so much for the update. crews rushed two people to the hospital after their car hit concrete barriers in southwest philadelphia. police say speeding was a factor that a car ran through a construction zone eastwick street this morning. it slammed into the concrete barriers. firefighters had to free the driver and passenger. no word on their conditions. homicide detectives are looking for what led to the shooting death of a 29-year-old man who was found lying on the ground a little before 2:00 a.m. he was shot three times including one in the chest. he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. supper veilance video shows

the -- surveillance video shows the man stumbling toward the hospital and collapsing. police are investigating a deadly stabbing in the mantua section. they say a 45-year-old man man was stabbed in the chest. he was rushed to the hospital where he died. no arrests have been made. federal investigators are arriving in texas today to figure out the cause of a charter bus crash that killed 8 people. the bus was on the way to the casino when the driver lost control and the bus rolled over. 8 passengers killed on this charter bus and 40 hospitalized. busted windows and dangling auto parts and chanced ceiling and smashed seats are what's left of it after losing control on the texas highway rolling over. it was 11:30 a.m. saturday in a rural area of southern texas

when the driver no longer had command and the vehicle flipped. everything is very limb father for us, as far as the contributing factors. he lost control of the bus and it rolled over. several people died at the scene, one dieing later at the hospital. 44 hurt, so many they had to be taken to three different nearby hospitals. objects become projectiles and people become projectiles. >> reporter: every weekend buses like this one packed full held to the casinos around the country. last year, 9 passengers were hurt when this casino tour bus in new york smashed into a building. in february, this bus heading to a connecticut casino flipped in the snow on the way from new york injuring dozens. and now the federal government is involved in this texas crash. a team from the ntsb is expected to arrive and investigate the wreck and look at if the weather played any role.

president obama is in new brunswick, new jersey about to give the commencement address at rutgers university. now you see the university president talking. 52,000 people are attending the ceremony. you see president obama to the left of the screen. the president is actually the first u.s. president to give a commencement address there at rutgers. we're streaming this address live at 6abc.com. a hive of aggressive bees is taking over a neighborhood in california. the bees have killed two dogs and attacked a number of people on the street including the mail carrier. bees were up in her hair. they are super aggressive, they are following us and going after us and banging on the windows, it was freaky like a horror movie.

experts say it's not clear how the africanized bees got hear, they can take over and repop late a honey beehive in a matter of days. they are working to round up the bees and get them out of the neighborhood once and for all. getting your work shown at the canne film festival in the south of france is a bucket list for many filmmakers. it's a time piece about a mother and son who are accused of witchcraft. >> reporter: this is my year arthur, a five minor thriller about a portrait with a sorted story. it's the work of two up and coming filmmakers from west philadelphia, eli and lou bev bevins. they are identical twins.

we feed off each other, i film and she edits. they finish each other's script. she wrote the first 20 pages and she fell asleep and i picked up and finished. they co-wrote and directed my dear arthur. the competition requires you to create a film in only a week. we had less than seven days to create the film. we had one run through, the first time everyone was on set was that day. >> reporter: this week it heads to the south of france. >> it prepared us for it. >> reporter: they run their own film company, eli lou productions. they say this is the beginning. we hope to leave other mark on the film world and industry. it's short films is like our jump start.

>> reporter: here's the rub, so far the twins won't be in cannes to see their film presented on the big screen. they raised enough money to send the lead actress to go. there's a slim chance crowd funding may get them on a plane to france as they say to represent philadelphia. alicia vitarelli channel 6 "action news." all right, imagine being able to take a picture with just a blink of an eye. sonny is looking into creating a contact lens that acts as a digital camera. they recently filed a patent application. they use embedded sensors and camera components. all you have to do is blink. sonny is not the first company to work on eyeball technology. google is working on one that can measure a person's blood sugar levels.
