"action news" reporter jeff chirico joins us live from the scene in bensalem with the story, jeff? >> reporter: walter, police say surveillance video shows the suspect purchasing gasoline from this wawa, and then returning to his room here at the lincoln motel, where he allegedly set his girl friend on fire because he was angry with her. what happened? tell us what happened. >> tell me what happened in that room. >> step back folks. >> step back. >> what happened? what did you do? >> unaudible. >> what did you do? >> reporter: forty-six year-old kevin small of philadelphia admitted to reporters he set the fire that killed his girl friend at the lincoln motel on the two to hundred block of lincoln highway in bensalem. flames broke out just after 2:00 this morning. heavy smoke poured from 21st floor rooms. fire crews had to rescue at least three people from the second floor. >> people were running down the hall way screaming,

everybody was like get out, get out, there is fire, get out. so i ran took my things and ran down the steps. >> reporter: inside room 103 police found body of the 46 year-old melissa a bacon smith of philadelphia. small allegedly told investigators he doused the victim with gasoline that he purchase a at a nearby wawa because he was angry with her. >> i don't know what sparked it. he claims that she laughed at him earl willer in the night, but that is his story. >> reporter: according to the complaint small flew through gasoline in the coffee cup at victim's face while she was smoking. >> we believe she reached out and yelled his name and he left her in there to die. >> reporter: small left the scene but was found not far away with burns to his hand. as he left for jail he told reporters that is exactly where he belongs. crews have been spending the afternoon here at lincoln motel boarding up the windows. i'm told all 40 units are damage. small faces a long list of charges including criminal homicide, and arson. when reporters asked small if

he had anything to say to his victim's family he said i'm sorry. we are live from bensalem township, jeff chirico for channel six "action news". >> jeff, thank you. investigators are trying to figure out how a man ended up near einstein medical center with three gunshot wound. an officer was transporting the victim of another shooting to the hospital, when the officer came upon the unidentified man lying in the road. the officer put that man in the patrol car and took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a all right time later. police saw surveillance video of the man stumbling on old york road toward einstein and then collapsing. trying to figure out where the shooting took place. a woman was shot six times in the the city's tioga section early this morning. officers found more than 30 shell casings at that scene. it happened around 1:00 o'clock in the 3800 block of north 13th street. when police arrived some had already taken the woman to temple hospital where she is now in critical condition. no arrests have been made. in the city's mantua

section a man was stabbed to death overnight, it happened at 36th and aspen street around 2:00 a.m. someone stabbed the 50 year-old victim once in the chest. he was pronounced dead at penn presbyterian hospital a short time later and no arrests have been made. masked gunman robbed a bar in center city overnight. investigators say it was bit past midnight when gunman walk in the tavern on broad sports bar inside hyat the bellevue. he made way with cash from the manager's office but there is no word how much. police are checking surveillance footage from that area to hopefully get a good look at the thief. president barack obama delivered the commencement dress at rutgers university today. the president told graduates it is a world becoming more inter connected by the day, and building walls will only hurt, not help america. in a thinly failed critique of republican presidential candidate donald trump, the president says isolating muslims or treating them differently could have a global impact. >> that is not who we are.

widener university today. sixteen came from five schools, widener,ville know of, newman, west chester and penn state abington. their parents all haddon or of pinning the second lieutenant badge on their uniform this years marked 100th anniversary of the army r ot c program here in the you had. it wasn't the perfect day for an outdoor ceremony but it could have been worse for sure. it was windy, chilly but sun did make welcomed appearances as the day progressed. meteorologist melissa magee joins us from the "action news" big board with the first check of the accu weather forecast, melissa. >> walter, we had a change today in comparison to yesterday. yesterday we had highs in the upper 70's. today was much cooler. we had wind to deal with. 3 degrees cooler in philadelphia then it was this same time yesterday. 10 degrees cooler in allentown then it was 24 hours ago and 12 degrees cold tore day in atlantic city and unless wildwood then it was this same time, just saturday. the wind, that was the other issue. we have wind coming from the

westerly direction gusting as high as 35 miles an hour in allentown, as high as 36 miles an hour in millville and we have a gust as high as 33 miles an hour out in the west in wilmington. the here's part of the reason y we have had that cold front moving through yesterday. in the wake of that we are dealing with these wind coming from the west and northwesterly direction but check this out we have a upper level low that is also moving on through and if you look closely, there is some snow across the new york/pennsylvania border, so we will get rid of the showers early and then turns clear and then breeze will relax as well which will set us up nicely for a frost advisory that goes up during the overnight hours from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. monday. it is for berks and lehigh counties because these numbers will drop into the upper 30's, so we will talk about what we can expect. it is chilly overnight with these numbers in the 30's, and lower 40's, milder tomorrow but then we're tracking more rain by tuesday, and then we have details with the full and exclusive accu weather forecast, sarah a. >> melissa, thank you. one of the oldest wooden

fire department. the sessions are designed to refine fire fighting techniques so they can douse fires quicker and safer then before. e ms work are and their families were treated to a barbecue today in recognition of the e ms week. flight true from mid-atlantic medivac'd sponsored cook out at pottstown limerick airport. kid were given tours of the helicopter and their facilities. these e ms workers then received a big thank you for their services to the community. it was a great day to find a new best friend in northern liberties. the citizens for no kill philadelphia hosted a super adoption day as piazza at schmidts. several shelters and rescue groups were there with their adoptable cats and dogs. they are even a few little pigs looking for a good home. this is the president's seventh year and one of the largest in the city. in delaware there were plenty of potential pets looking for good homes. delaware human society teamed up with the north shore animal league for america's 2016 tour for life. the event highlights, all of
