following up on leads but many people say they will not feel safe until an arrest is made. >> hopefully they catch him. please catch him. somebody catch him. >> reporter: it is a nerve wracking time for many people living in west chester after police announce they're searching for a burglar who has targeted half a dozen homes if march through may. >> scares the daylights out of me am across the street our neighbors were robbed and their car was stolen and it was 4 o'clock in the morning and we were home in bed. >> reporter: police believe the bold burglar is acting alone and strikes during the hours of 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. while people are at home. in each case the victims have had their doors and windows locked. so far no one has been hurt or come face to face with that burglar. by the time they realize their home has been broken into the crook is long gone. >> it is fortunate that it doesn't appear that the suspect or suspects want a confrontationism police wander to make an arrest before anyone is h the deceptive burglar has not only broken into homes and stolen purses

washington. right now the white house is on a security alert after a shooting outside on the street. officials say that's where a uniformed secret service officer shot a man with a gun at around 3 o'clock this afternoon. still unclear why there person was armed. less than an hour ago the white house confirmed no one inside was injured. the president was not even there at the time. updates as we get them on our web site at 6abc.com. police in wilmington are offering up to $10,000 in reward money to track down the person who shot and killed a teenager just blocks from his school. 15-year-old brandon wingo was gunned down right after dismissal yesterday, should the three times in the head. today wingo's father, brad, spoke exclusively to "action news." he says he has no idea why brandon was targeted by a murderer. >> told him about, you know, hanging out with the wrong kids, boom, boom, boom, everything. most of the kids were just basketball players that he played with over the years and became friends with, you know, but as far as violence or anything like that, from what

i know, nothing. >> witnesses say a lone gunman fled from the scene on foot. wingo attended howard high school of technology, the same school where 16-year-old amy joyner-francis fell victim to a deadly fight in a bathroom last month. three students are facing charges in that case. >> dozens of people took to the streets in protest after delaware's attorneys general decided not to bring criminal charges against a wilmington police officer who shot a man in a wheelchair. >> hands up don't shoot. >> today protestors marched in downtown wilmington. they say the d.a. should have criminally charged four officers involved in jeremy mcdole's death. cell phone video here captured the incident last september. a delaware department of justice investigation found no probable cause to charge those officers. >> all right. we're just about a week and countering from memorial day and the unofficial start of summer and after a rough went weather-wise towns up and down

think the first may lead to the other but in this case the training boxers do to get ready for a fight can help people with parkinson's. that's the goal of a program called rock steady boxing. 52-year-old susan quinn is fighting back against the disease that has slowly weakened her right side. she's always been active. >> biking, hiking, everything. >> reporter: she doesn't want to give that up. but two years ago she was diagnosed with parkinson's. a neurological disease that typically gets worse over time. now she's going through an assessment with physical therapist carol leaper and former professional boxer joey. >> we look for balance. that's the main thing. >> he says soon quinn and dozens of others will enroll in rock steady boxing classes. it's a program that's started in indianapolis. the local parkinson's counties sim has expanded it here in

philadelphia. it uses noncontact boxing fitness to help slowly progression of the disease and relieve symptoms. stretching helps lessen stiffness in the upper body. punching can help steady tremors and the foot work helps improve balance and coordination. >> with boxing they have to keep moving their feet, they're shifting their weight. >> reporter: leaper says it also gives them a sense of empowerment. quinn is eager to start. she's hoping it will slow the progression of her disease and allow her to live as she likes to live. he also owns jolt and jabs and calls his students and rock steady becoming warriors. >> seeing these people with this disease, i see them and i fist pump them and they he get fired up and man it brings -- it makes me so happy. >> reporter: and the program will have different level classes depending on the severity of the symptoms. it's not a cure but it has been shown to help.

allentown and trenton 76. reading and wilmington currently 74 degrees. hard to believe, though, we have not had one day this month with temperatures in the 80's. march this year we had two days, april 3 and last year by the 20th of may we already had 13 days in the 80's in may. none right now but i am tracking some 80-degree weather that will be moving in the middle of next week and looks like that will stick around for awhile. but satellite6 along with action radar showing heading into the weekend we've got a messy storm on the way. there's one low pressure across the ohio valley. what this will be doing, it will be weakening and transferring its low -- energy to a low pressure off the coast of the carolinas and that becomes a coastal storm and heads out to sea and what that means is that it's going to be cloudy, it's going to be cool and wet tomorrow. so, friday night enjoy it. if you're heading to the union game, it's looking great. at the start of the game at 7 o'clock, 71 degrees. by the end of the game, 64 degrees with increasing

clouds through the evening but the evening will be dry and future tracker timing the rain and it looks like the thunderstorm will be riding a little bit slower than initially anticipated. that's good news. 8 o'clock in the morning the showers should still be to our south and our west so if you need to get out, do some errands you need to go for a run do it early in the morning because around lunchtime is when it feels in. around 11 o'clock the rain is here and then we're looking at periods of rain, heavy at times through the afternoon and then tapering off to some showers by the evening and sunday is not going to be completely dry but it won't be quite as wet as saturday. tomorrow about a half inch to an inch and a half of rain. when it's raining temperatures only in the 50. sunday clouds with occasional showers, 68 degrees and monday still possibility of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm, a high of 70 but look at tuesday. pop-up shower possible but 76 degrees and wednesday sunny and warm, 83 degrees finally.

united states egypt and other countries are now racing to the area that is believed to be where egyptair flight 804 went down early yesterday morning. officials now say they are not optimistic about finding survivors. the families of the 66 passengers and crew may find some closure with this latest discovery but it's a race against time trying to recover key pieces of evidence from that wreckage. searchers say they spotted what they believe could be an oil slick from the plane in the mediterranean sea. that's 100 miles north of alexandria, egypt. egyptian officials are standing by their belief that downing of the jetliner they believe was a terrorist attack. abc's marci gonzalez is live inside charles day gall airport near paris with the very latest. good evening to you, marcy. >> reporter: hi, monica. good evening. the investigation is now focused here and in that area off the coast of egypt where the debris was reportedly found which could hold some crucial clues. search planes scouring the mediterranean sea.

looking for more wreckage after egyptian officials say suitcases, seats and human remains were found believed to be from egyptair flight 804. investigators hoping it could all lead to the plane's black boxes. >> right now we found some debris which will help narrow down search area so they can put the microphones in the water. they'll be listening for the little metallic pingersism investigators are trying to figure out what caused the plane to drop from radar at 37,000 feet with no distress call greek officials say its radar shows the jet turning left, then strangely to the right before vanishing. >> it's a tragedy and by knowing the reason we'll be able to know how we would be -- how we would react. >> reporter: egyptian officials admit terrorism is more likely than a technical problem but every possibility is being considered. investigators looking into the backgrounds of all 66 people on board including captain mohammed shu can kar and the

who he thought was a young teenager into a sexual encounter. however, instead of a 14-year-old girl the man from roxborough was met by an undercover officer. police say he drove to the ridley township delaware county where he was arrested on the spot he's charged with multiple felonies. this case was part of a and online sting according to authorities. police are hoping this surveillance video helps lead to the arrest of an armed robber. the man can be seen putting items from the west philadelphia store into a black bag when an employee confronts him he pulls a gun and then left the store. you're asked to call police if you know anything about the crime which happened on sunday. chopper6 was over the philadelphia energy solutions refining complex here in southwest philadelphia today. smoke poured from a fire at one of the refinery furnaces. emergency responders rushed to the scene and immediately doused the flames with water. it took more than a half hour to get the situation under control. no one was injured and there was no threat to the surrounding community.

>> police in west philadelphia are looking for the suspect who robbed a man right in the middle of a crowded store. they gave us video from tuesday evening inside reilly's deli on westminster avenue. the victim was buying lottery tickets when a man just grabbed some money and a cell phone right out of his hands. no one stopped that man and he ran ay want police want anybody who recognizes this man to call them right away. from our delaware news room this is a man charged with burglary and felony theft for allegedly stealing from an elderly homeowner in wilmington. authorities say he told the 77-year-old victim he was a utility worker offered her discounterred service and then asked to use the phone. while in the home, fadiga allegedly took several tights and when he was couldn't fronted by the victim he ran weigh. he was captured a short time later. >> a community in delaware is rolling out a new approach to help heroin addicts. state and local officials in new castle unveiled hero help today. it will be a rehabilitation option for people addicted to

heroin and prescription painkillers. nonviolent drug offenders will have the choice between being arrested or entering a program to start getting treatment immediately. and if they complete the program, the charges against them could be dropped. >> it's not a silverbullet, it's not solving every problem. it simply gives us the ability when someone truly is in need of help and wants help it will give us an opportunity to put them into this program. >> today's announcement comes just months after officials in new castle unveiled the heroin trap. the program uses videos and interaffect tiff ads to help addicts find resources for help. >> the camden county police k-9 unit is welcoming two new members tonight one of whom is making history. "action news" reporter annie mccormick with that story. >> reporter: this yellow lab almost has his very own badge and he is partnered with the first woman to become a k-9 officer in camden's history. officer gabrielle comb macho graduated two years ago and

recently decided to go to the k-9 academy. >> we bonded very quick. i actually got him only a month ago. >> reporter: why did it take this long to add a female officer in the mix. >> up to this point in time we did not have many female officers. we never had one put in for the assignment. but now we have a significant amount of female officers. >> i'd like to think had that when it comes to officers it doesn't matter may, female we come here and do the exact same job. >> reporter: peyton lives at home with comb macho and her father who is a captain on the force. today county and state officials talked about the importance of dogs like peyton who sniff out narcotics in the city besieged with drugs saying it helps the nation fight the epidemic of drug use. the american humane society donated five body armor dog vests. the police department has eight k-9s now and hope to eventually have 12 or 15. peyton and com macho have two roles. >> it will be hugs and kisses and detecting narcotics. when she's not specifically on an assignment for detecting narcotics, she'll be in the

police are on the scene. right lane is out of commission. that means extra slowing coming north of penn's landing on 95. southbound also really heavy with a 31 minute travel time. a lot of people there headed down toward the phils game. and it's extra locked up on the northbound side of the roosevelt boulevard expressway this afternoon coming off the schuylkill up to wissahickon. that's where a broken down vehicle is sticking out partial into that right lane. of course the kelly drive remains shut down so that's putting extra traffic on the schuylkill itself with speeds in the teens and the mlk is going to be busy as well. we showed you the picture from chopper sick of the brush fire in mount laurel burlington county along the turnpike and while both lanes are opened in both directions, people are slowing down because of the smoke and just to see what's going on. headed northbound i would use 295. southbound i wouldn't. speeds just in the teens headed southbound. maybe use kings highway as an alternate. and septa's paoli thorndale regional rail lines shuttle busing right now. a short stretch between cynwyd and overbrook but that is giving people problems on this friday afternoon. have a good weekend rick and

>> the the uber driver charge with going on a random shooting rampage in michigan had to be removed from the courtroom after on outburst today. video from inside the court shows jason dalton interrupting a victim's emotional testimony. he became a rambling rant while she was talking about the day slaw shot. guards had to restrain dalton when he appeared to approach the victim on the witness stand. dalton is accused of killing six people and injuring two others.

park. you can see the sprinkles in the waterfall that we have there. it's a mostly sunny sky across the region. really comfortable at this hour as well. high today in philadelphia, 76 degrees. so, nice to be above average for a change. normal for us this time of year is 75. the record 94 set back in 1996. we won't be in the 90's next week but the 80's aren't too far behind and not too far away. numbers along that 95 corridor 76 degrees wilmington 74 at the coast though it's much cooler. from beach haven down to cape may point, temperature in the lower 60's. 75 in the poconos and 72 at lancaster. here's satellite6 along with action radar. it's dry and quiet thanks to that dominating ridge of high pressure from new england all the way down across the midatlantic region but what we're tracking for the weekend, you can see an area of low pressure to the south of cincinnati and also a piece of energy that will start to develop over georgia and the carolinas. this will work its way to the

north and east as we go throughout the day on saturday. future tracker six timing it out for you. 8 o'clock in the morning it's mostly cloudy. we have showers approaching across areas in dover. as we go throughout the early morning hours make sure you have the wet weather gear with you. it does look to be heavy for areas south of philadelphia for millville and dover also wilmington at that time. 2 o'clock in the afternoon right now it looks like the heaviest of that precipitation will be in philadelphia and areas to the south for trenton lakehurst down to millville wildwood on westward into dover. by 5 o'clock in the evening, the back edge of that precipitation at least the heaviest at least will start to exit to our north and east and as we go throughout the rest of the evening hours we have lingering and residual moisture to deal with. as far as rainfall and what we are expecting here, tomorrow and right throughout tomorrow afternoon and evening, for our northwest suburbs we could find more than a half inch of rainfall right along that 95 corridor, three-quarters avenue and inch to about an inch and a quarter depending on your location and the bull's eye looks to be across

areas in south jersey also into delaware where folks there could find more than an inch and a half of rain on the way. so, we get rid of saturday. then sunday it stays unsettled. we have this trough of low pressure that is essentially cut off from the jet stream here so that will allow for a shower, limited sunshine and clouds to invade the region. not just sunday but for that matter into monday and also into tuesday. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast showing it's rainy breezy cooler tomorrow, high of 61. sunday clouds, showers around and at 68. a pop-up thundershower around on monday coming in at 70. breaks of sunshine by tuesday. otherwise we're up to 76 and then by wednesday, it's sunny and warm, up to 83. string of 80's on the way by thursday up to 84. clouds and some sun as we get into next friday. then a storm is still possible but a high temperature coming in at 81 so a soaking on the way tomorrow, guys, with some improvement in that seven-day forecast. >> all right. >> thank you. >> thank you melissa. we want to invite you to join us this coming tuesday for a special event to help in the fight against pediatric

he was shot in the head and at this hour law men are mounting a major search for the person who pulled the trigger.
