>> tonight a woman who was wounded during that shooting is speaking out to "action news." this as the city's mayor is calling on anyone with any information to step forward. jeff chirico is live at chester police headquarters with the latest. >> reporter: tremendous sadness and shock in chester that someone would just open fire on children and a woman just waiting outside a convenience store. the family has identified the victim who died as 14-year-old nas powell. this is a photo of him taken before his middle school formal this pageant friday. his 16-year-old cousin seen on the left was also shot. he is in critical condition right now at crozer-chester. the third victim jeanine slip man spoke with "action news." she said she was in a car outside the convenience store talking to the boy when a suspicious car drove by. >> gold car with back tinted windows went down the middle

of the street. i'm like just get home. we went to go to pull off. wasn't no pulling off. started shooting from everywhere. they shot, shot, shot, shot. it sounded like they even loaded back up or something. shooting and shooting. why would you shoot some kids and a mom for no reason? you know what, the bullet is coming out my back. they didn't have remorse. they didn't stop shooting. i got underneath the dashboard. that's why i'm alive today. >> and shipley says she is not going to rest. she is going to find who shot her and the boys. meanwhile mayor thaddeus kirkland issued a statement calling this a senseless act of violence that will not be tolerated and he urges anyone with information on this shooting to contact chester police. we're live outside chester police headquarters, jeff chirico, channel6 "action

news. >> a school community came together to remember another teen whose life was cut short by violence. nativity prep in wilmington held a prayer service to remember brandon wingo. wingo who was just 15 was shot and killed on thursday afternoon as he was walking home from school. he was a ninth grader at howard high school of technology and a graduate -- graduated from nativity just last year. >> this is i guess a safe place to feel all of the things and be with each other. especially in the face of a city that isn't safe or doesn't feel safe at the moment. >> there have been no arrests in this case but sources tell "action news" they do know the name of the alleged gunman. the shooting came weeks after another howard student 16-year-old amy joyner-francis died after a fight in one of the school's bathrooms. >> a coroner found a penn state student who fell off a roof of home died of electrocution. shannon mathers grind a high

voltage wire in state college on friday. she then fell to the sidewalk. the death is being called accidental. a 17-year-old burlington city high school student was hit and child by an alleged drunk driver while walking with a friend late last night. it happened around midnight on route one flirt and east federal street in burlington city. antawn l. timbers jr. was walking off the road way when investigators say he was hit by a car driven by 42-year-old ricardo patterson of willingboro. patterson is charged with dui and reckless driving. grief counselors will be at the school tomorrow. >> underground explosion in the vicinity of washington square for several people from their homes today and even knocked out power across that area. "action news" reporter christie ileto is live near the scene with details. christie. >> reporter: that's right, walter, the traffic light here at sixth and pine is still out. according to peco the majority the of the power has been restored to residents. at left check all but six can

customers are still in the dark. >> i heard this big kaboom. >> reporter: what peco says he heard was an underground cable malfunctioning at fifth and pine which residents say sounded like a and explosion. >> i came out to meet a friend for coffee and there was 15 peco trucks around here. >> yeah. >> and glass all over the sidewalk. >> literally went right in and damaged the brick right in front of my house and all of our windows shattered here. >> reporter: residents were evacuated. as peco crews work to restore electricity to a darkened block. >> when we got here the power was out. they said there was an explosion. >> reporter: anthony moved his son into the neighborhood this morning with no power. but for others. >> i just found out that i don't have power back in my house at the moment and i'm on the 500 block. >> reporter: spotty restoration may be a nuisance but it didn't slow the 500 plus people attending society hill's historic home walking tour. >> turns out that only three houses have lost power. we tried to divert people to

the end of the tour first. i think it worked out but power did go on and it didn't -- it didn't stop you guys from having fun. >> oh, no. >> reporter: now, fortunately no one was hurt during that incident. apparently peco is supposed to be working throughout the night to repair that damaged cable and again hopefully restore power to those six customers. reporting live in society hill, christie ileto, channel6 "action news." >> christie, thank you. two philadelphia police officers were hurt in a crash this morning in south philadelphia. it happened just before 8 o'clock. the officers were driving near the intersection of oregon avenue and 18th street when their cruiser collided with another vehicle. the officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to methodist hospital. a person in the other car also suffered minor injuries. no word yet on the cause of the crash. police have arrested a man who they say was taking pictures up a woman's skirt. they say the man in this surveillance video is 33-year-old bobby hayden of chester township. this was taken inside the

pretzel factory on 69th street. the woman confronted him inside the store but he ran off. he's now facing several charges is that behind bars. >> moving on to the accuweather forecast, it was another gray day today for the most part. sadly it's not over yet. the start of the work week will look much the same. meteorologist melissa magee is at the "action news" big board with our first check of the accuweather forecast. melissa. >> yeah, walter, we certainly have the unsettled weather up ahead and it wasn't as bad today as it was yesterday with that constant steady rain last night but we are still track something light rain and some spotty showers. here's storm tracker6 live double scan radar, some light precipitation in burlington atlantic and cape may counties in south jersey but we'll go in tighter for areas south of philadelphia and for ken and new castle counties. in newark also into wilmington middletown dealing with light to moderate pockets of moisture. same thing out to the west across areas in lancaster county in lancaster and over into areas of oxford we have precipitation overhead. it's a cool day with

southeasterly wind. 55 in the poconos, 63 for reading, the lower 60's in lancaster. we'll talk about what we can expect for the week ahead. it's an unsettled one early this week, monday and tuesday. not a washout but we will be tracking those scattered showers, some sun, limited sunshine otherwise a mostly cloudy day but the good news, the pattern breaks as we get into wednesday with a taste of summer by then. we've got details coming up with the full and exclusive accuweather forecast. sarah. >> melissa, thank you. today marked a new beginning for hundreds of new graduates at cabrini college and a new era for the school itself. today's commencement was the funnel ceremony as cabrini college. the school's name is changing to cab greeny universit cabrini. it was also graduation day here at lasalle university. 1100 students received their undergraduate degrees at mccarthy stadium. on friday 700 students received their masters or

doctoral degrees. >> it was also a day to remember for a very special couple from south philadelphia. they exchanged vows today their devotion in sickness and in health far predates their wedding. trish hartman explains. >> reporter: lonnie and karen brown are just beginning their lives as husband and wife. (applause). >> reporter: but this south philadelphia couple has already been through a lot together. >> as soon as the doctor said it it was like i got hit by a truck. my ears rang and i couldn't hear anything else. lonnie is battling colon cancer. over the past several years he's had multiple surgeries all with karen by his side. >> she's been my rock the whole time. >> she is the patient's person i know. sometime he get a little frazzled but that's what i'm here for. >> reporter: he's receiving chemotherapy and has had to stop working but thanks to an organization called wish upon a wedding the couple said their vows in front of dozens of family and friends at the

training session on campus. volunteers acting as victims teams went through three or four different scenarios using simulated firearms and ammunition. these crisis test their -- are designed to expose any possible weaknesses in the facility's preparedness so they can be as ready as possible if an emergency situation unfolds. >> in university city young patients reconnected with the medical professionals who likely saved their lives. the children's hospital of philadelphia hosted a reunion for patients with thoracic insufficiency a complex spinal condition that stifles normal lung growth. most of the kids got a break through treatment developed at the hospital. people of all ages assembled in newtown to form what they hope was the largest human peace sign. the peace center organized the event at bucks county community college to mark its 35th anniversary celebration. they hope to attract up to sucks thousand people to help make the symbol. the peace center is a nonprofit organization aimed

something wrong with you. anyway. check of the accuweather forecast. >> yeah, guys, we've got the gray skies, they're going to stay with us even as we get into the start of our work week. tracking the showers right now. storm tracker6 live double scan radar, you can see that we've got some light precipitation. it's not steady, it's not heavy but it's annoying. we'll go in tighter on street level storm tracker6 and you can see the light precipitation in philadelphia along that 95 corridor, even southbound into wilmington, between wilmington and salem and smyrna along route 13 light to moderate pockets of moisture. same thing across areas of south jersey. there's no organized system across our region but they have of we have to allow for on and off spotty showers for the early evening hours. we'll show you the picture outside. action cam outside in valley forge looking up at the sky we got a mostly cloudy start to our day and looks like the clouds dominate over the next couple days. with the clouds, moisture added instability in the air it was a cooler day. our high in philadelphia 10 degrees below average.

normal for us this time of year is 76. we max out at just 66 today. the record 96. we won't be that hot this week but the 80's certainly not out of the question. currently outside with that southeasterly wind 66 in allentown, 55 in the poconos, 57 in cape may. lancaster 61, lower 60's in wilmington. you can see this upper level low that is essentially cut off from the jet stream meaning there's nothing to kick it out of our region, so the showers will linger, not just for the rest of tonight but for that matter into monday and also into tuesday. the call from accuweather over the next 12 hours we've got some line early and with so much low level moisture there could be some patchy fog that develops during the overnight hours and even as you wake up tomorrow morning. we'll drop down to 51 in the suburbs and 53 in philadelphia for the overnight low. here's future tracker six. you could see 6 o'clock in the morning it's mostly cloudy, areas of patchy fog but no issues for the morning commute. just give yourself extra time depending on if you pick up

any of those areas of patchy fog. as we go throughout the afternoon hours we get some heating of the day with some sunshine, limited in nature but it will allow for some instability and it will pop off a shower or two across the region. same thing at 7:30 in the evening. we'll get a break by the middle half of our work week. tomorrow area of low pressure to our east, high of 72. high pressure wants to work its way eastward but not just yet. same thing on tuesday, this area of low pressure moving along long island and also into new england. if this area of low pressure clears close enough to our region and well away we could have a few more sunny breaks before i tuesday afternoon. otherwise that high temperature coming in at 74. here's the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast. some sunshine tomorrow, so a spotty shower possible by the afternoon a high of 72. it's not a washout tomorrow. not a washout on tuesday way pop-up thundershower possible high up to 74. by wednesday, 84 degrees. if we hit that, it will be the first 80-degree day in the month of may. here we go with the summer like pattern returning on
