himself to the e.r. and that's where "action news" reporter dann cuellar is now live at temple university hospital. dann? >> reporter: the gunman is now in custody and the police may have a clearer picture what this was all about, money. the tow truck driver remains in critical. medical person many was astonished that he was able to drive himself to the hospital after being shot in the chest. the shattered window illustrated the end result of what police now say was an argument over money. >> turns out these two shooting victims, the 30-year-old, who's in critical, was operatingal tow truck. and the 28-year-old was a passenger in the tow truck when shots were fired. >> reporter: the incident happened here. witnesses reporting shots fire uded. police say they were arguing over money when suddenly the

gunman pulls a gun and stat starts firing at the tow truck. the rest of the story is remarkable, say police. >> the 30-year-old driver although shot in the chest and eventually being placed this critical condition, he was still able to drive himself and his passenger to temple hospital. >> reporter: the gunman is telling investigators that the tow truck driver owed him money and wasn't paying up. words were exchanged. one thing led to another when the shots were fired. the investigation is ongoing. live here at temple university hospital, i'm dann cuellar, "channel 6 action news." >> thank you, dann. an unusual weather pattern this afternoon gave us some downpours and some lightning as the storm cycled from north to south, they brought gusty winds and a good drenching along with everything else, but because of their spotty nature, the storms caught some folks by surprise. a not too pleasant occasion to cap off a shopping trip when you don't have your umbrella.

like mere in cherry hill along route 70. a tree literally exploded tonight as storms moved south into new castle, delaware, stripping the bark off the trunk and sending wooden shrapnel flying into a home. the jagged scars suggested accuweather says the storms may fire up again tomorrow. meteorologist cecily tynan will be along shortly with the full accuweather forecast.

the pennsylvania supreme court today refused to grant a delay to bill cosby who will appear in court tomorrow for a preliminary hearing in his sexual assault trial. chad pradelli is live outside the montgomery county courthouse in norristown. chad, tonight, really, the quiet before the storm. >> reporter: you can see police officers already out front of the montgomery county district -- montgomery county court making sure the street is clear. you can see some of the news vans are lined up and down the road here as we get ready for this preliminary hearing. and we'll then find out at the end of it whether bill cosby will go to trial on sexual assault charges. a key question heading into bill cosby's preliminary hearing -- will the victim, andrea constand be in court and take the stand? the burden of proof in a

preliminary hearing is low. >> a criminal defense attorney would love the opportunity to cross-examine this woman. that's the building block of getting ready for trial. >> reporter: david zealis is a former first assistant district attorney in bucks county and now a defense attorney not involved in the case. >> i think one of the real questions that surround her is this whole money payoff essentially and try to emphasize the fact that she was paid off and that doesn't mean that he is guilty of anything. it just means that she wanted money, and she got money. >> reporter: cosby is accused of sexually assaulting constand in his cheltenham home in 2004. she claims she was drugged and fondled, a claim other women have made against the actor. cosby supporters question why she waited a year to go to authorities and continue to have contact with cosby after the alleged assault. the comedian's attorneys have

tried to have the charges thrown out, citing a verbal agreement to not prosecute by then-district attorney bruce castor. >> it certainly was a novel approach. i never heard anything like that before. but they get an "a" for effort, but unfortunately, it didn't carry the day in the courts. >> reporter: and montgomery county district attorney only had limited comments saying, we look forward to putting on a preliminary hearing. it begins at 9:30 tomorrow morning. live in norristown, chad pradelli "channel 6 action news." jim? thank you, chad. gunfire has claimed the life of a man in chester tonight. he becomes that city's tenth homicide victim of the year. shots rang out at 8:00 on the 1100 block of carla's lane. police have not released details on the victim or a suspect. lansdale police are looking for the man in this surveillance video who stole a child's mini bike. this happened friday the 13t 13th on the 800 block of moyer

road. the victim says that she bought the bike as a christmas present for her 10-year-old son. a new rescue plan for atlantic city is on the table in trenton tonight. the legislative deal would give the cash-strapped city a $60,000 loan and stave off the threat of a state takeover at least for now. currently, on the verge of bankruptcy, atlantic city would get a five-month reprieve to advise a balanced budget plan. union workers would keep their collective bargaining rights. that is a sticking point that has scuttled previous rescue packages. the state assembly and senate will vote on the plan thursday, but governor chris christie could still veto it. while atlantic city is working to keep from going bust, its casino industry is continuing to play a hot hand. profits rose 31% in the first quarter of the year. the eight remaining gambling halls made a combined $106 million this the first three months of 2016.

the trump taj mahal was the only casino to post an operating loss. on the campaign front, a new abc news/"washington post" poll shows donald trump leading hillary clinton 46-44%. that is an 11-point swing in trump's favor since march. but trump is also leading in another measurement, how much he is disliked by the voters. the poll has trump with a 60% unfavorable rating. hillary clinton is at 53%. should trump and clinton face each other, which seems likely, and should these ratings stay the same, they would be the least liked nominees in the last 30 years. in new york city was this is courtesy call or something more? tennessee senator bob corker met with donald trump at trump tower today and that is feeding speculation that corker is on a short list of possible running mates. corker is chairman of the senate

foreign relations committee emerging from the meeting corker said he had no reason to think that he is being considered. hillary clinton told a big labor convention in detroit today that trump's economic policies would lead to lower wages, fewer jobs and more debt. clinton said that trump would "bankrupt america the way he has bank resulted his companies." clinton today mixed -- nixed the idea of a debate with bernie sanders before the california primary on june 7th. in california today, sanders predicted that he will win that primary. he also said that the democratic convention in philadelphia could get messy. that was the word he used as he pushes the party to adopt his progressive platform. hillary clinton's campaign is setting up shop in south jersey. an office officially opened tonight in cherry hill at camden county democratic headquarters on marlton pike. the clinton campaign will be doing outreach to voters for the june 7th primary and then

beyond. city council members in reading, pennsylvania, unanimously approved the new police chief tonight. andre dominguez jr. will replace madison winchester. dominguez has experience as a pennsylvania state and the secret service agent. he says he wants to get involved in the community and be on the street working with people. a local man who fell victim to a stray bullet as a teenager many years ago has finally taken a big step in his recovery. "action news" reporter christie ileto has that story tonight. >> reporter: it's this bullet duane adams carried for 17 years in his right cheek. small in size but a heavy burden until now. when you see that bullet what -- >> i really don't have words for it. >> reporter: you're blessed. adams fights back tears looking at piece of metal that's been part of him since high school. he was caught in the crossfire when a hail of bullets rained down on his mother's north philadelphia porch in 1998. he lost sight in his left eye

and is legally blind in his right. >> it was always if the bullet would stay in me what would happen, and if it was removed, life would probably be a lot better. adams used his setback to win rowing championships. he also started a nonprofit, breaking barriers, which has catered to over 250 delaware kids over 11 years. but in that time, the bullet left in his face became a health risk. >> within the last two years, i've had serious problem where i was constantly going to the doctor, getting it drained by a needle. >> reporter: the operation intended to maintain the little vision adams had left gives him a sense of normalcy. >> i also lost my sense of smell, but -- >> reporter: when you had the bullet -- >> when i had the bullet in. >> reporter: can you smell now? >> something has come back. i smelt a couple little things. i'm like, i'm not going to get too happy, see what happens. >> reporter: adams says he'll be continuing his routine later this week by won't be able to do any physical

shot in the chest just about 35 minutes ago. police are still on the scene. the individual has been taken to penn presbyterian hospital in critical condition and then ten minutes later, police found a second man at 77th and city avenue just two blocks away. let's go live now to chopper 6, which is over the scene. as you can see, police still in the area checking out a parking lot and a vehicle there. again, two people discovered, both shot, both now in presbyterian -- at penn presbyterian hospital. at least one of them is in critical condition. [ gunshots ] iraq's prime minister is hailing what he calls big successes tonight in the offensive launch today to retake the city of fallujah from isis. the iraqi military released this

promotional video. this again promotional video of its operation recapturing what it calls farmland from the islamic state. the u.s.-led coalition is helping out with airstrikes. fallujah is 40 miles west of baghdad. president obama did confirm today that a u.s. airstrike did in fact kill taliban leader mullah mansour. obama said he was targeting u.s. personnel and troops inside afghanistan. a u.s. drone fired on mansour's vehicle in pakistan either friday or saturday, which one has not been made clear, but mansor is dead. day one of president obama's visit to vietnam saw the president make a trust for case for a trusting and pros russ relationship between the former enemies. he look at the embargo el selling arms. some say the president is being too quick to gloss over serious

human rights abuses in vietnam. a baltimore police officer charged in the death of freddie gray has been acquitted. gray suffered spinal injuries during the ride in a police van after his arrest last year and later died. today, a judge decided that officer edward nero played little role in gray's arrest saying he was not responsible for failure by police to buckle gray in for the ride to jail. we are used to seeing dashcam video from police but perhaps it is time that you consider getting one for your personal vehicle. here's why. more people are doing it, and finding that it comes in handy in all kinds of situations. nydia han has what you need to know in this special report. >> reporter: "action news" viewer steve tweeted me this video. makes you jump, right? wait until you hear the audio. >> out of nowhere -- he goes, we have to get that guy's license

plate number. i said, wait a minute, i have the dashcam on. it's on tape. >> i thank god that he did have it. >> reporter: he says he got his dashcam because he thought it would be fun. now he's realizing it's useful. he says in this case it helped police track down the offending driver and give him a written warning. >> it's a recorder. it's a silent watchman. >> reporter: and his dashcam has recorded other near misses. >> couldn't see him at all and there he was in my lane coming right at me. >> if you need it, it's nice know that it's there. >> reporter: mark used his dashcam to fight a traffic ticket. he was in montgomery county. he tells us he stopped before making a legal right turn on red but a cop said otherwise. >> the argument that he made was that i never stopped at all. so when we went to court, i approached the conversation -- i approached my defense in that way saying, i did, in fact, stop. >> reporter: he says he won because of this dashcam video. >> okay. here we go. >> reporter: gordon bryce says his dashcam helped him avoid a

scam in san francisco. >> there was no car in two parking spots. i just zipped into it. but there was no car behind me. the camera catches that, of course. >> reporter: good thing, because he says when he came back, there was a car behind his and two people trying to rip him off. >> when you're trying to get in, you banged into our hood. you damaged our front end. i said, what you are talking about? there was no car there. >> reporter: bryce told them he had it all on camera. but before you get a dashcam, he has tips. buy one that starts immediately recording on its own. >> when you turn the vehicle on, the power comes from my -- see that lighter and it goes on automatically. >> reporter: choose one that lets you close the monso it isn't distracting. >> i usually leave it like this so it doesn't become a nuisance. >> reporter: and to make sure it's as helpful as pros when trying to improve an insurance claim or court case, get one that records a time starch and

chopper 6 took flight, just a beautiful shot of the clouds clearing and the sun is now setting at 8:17. we did get some small pea-size hail earlier today. didn't look like this though. this was posted by chris from red line, pennsylvania, which is eastern york county, and the hail was so intense it actually looks like snow. it covered the roads, the sidewalks, covered the cars, and a lot of car damage as well from all that hail. it's just an indication of a strong updraft in the thunderstorms. right now pretty comfortable out there. philadelphia 61, down from a high of 76, which is the normal high for this time of the year. nice to be normal finally. allentown, 61. down from our high of 80. trenton, also 61. cape may, 56. and wilmington currently 58 degrees. satellite 6 along with action radar showing this spin in the atmosphere. this is thanks to what's known as a cutoff low. it's low pressure sitting off the coast of virginia and it's cut off from the jetstream which

is that river of air that pushes storms along. so that means it's just meandering here, and it is pulling in some spokes of energy in the form of some showers. so that's going to happen again tomorrow. so planning out your day, 8:00 in the morning, 61 degrees. lot of clouds, some spotty showers. east of philadelphia. then we'll see a mixture of clouds and sunshine. temperatures rising up into the upper 70s with some scattered showers and thunderstorms. but that low pressure is shifting to the east. so most of the activity will do so as well. so 7:30 in the morning, you can see some showers along the coast. philadelphia some clouds. some sunshine west of philadelphia. then as we head into the afternoon, again we've got the showers and thunderstorms bubbling up. but again, this shows most of the activity will be across south jersey tomorrow and then finally on wednesday, this upper level low thins out and we're under the influence of high pressure, over bermuda, a bermuda high. we get that classic heat pumg with winds out of the southwest.

it get warm temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. by wednesday into the holiday weekend, progressively more humid with a possibility of some of those scattered showers and thunderstorms popping up especially as we head toward the weekend. so the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, mixture of clouds and sunshine. it will be warm, 79 degrees, scattered showers and thunderstorms primarily east of philadelphia. wednesday, the pick of the week. sunny and warm but low humidity, 85. but then on thursday, we bump it up to 87 degrees. add the humidity, on friday, 88 with that humidity, it will feel more like 95. and then heading through the weekend, it stays warm. it stays humid. and essentially every day, thursday through monday, there is a possibility of some scattered showers and thunderstorms. i don't think any day will be a washout. most of that activity will happen during the heating of the day late in the afternoon and in the evening. so the pick of the week, wednesday. but if you're waiting for that summer warmth, it arrives right in time for the holiday weekend. >> not bad timing.
