when the 50-year-old molina was on his way home from work, standing underneath the bus stop presumably taking cover from the rain when this vehicle came down and slammed into the bus stop. the investigation is in the early stages but two things are clear. >> speed was a factor, the weather was pouring down rain at the time and losing control. definitely speed and weather, huge factors in this crash. >> the impact sent molina sailing 100 feet down the road, paramedics quickly arrived and pronounced him date sometime later. the driver took off on foot but at 7:15 this morning, the suspect walked into police headquarters. >> he came in on his own volition. >> he said i am the driver. >> she is relieved that the

suspect surrendered but that does not take away the pain. >> we have a 20-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son, that we will miss we will just miss you rest in peace baby, i love you. >> police are working to see if drugs or alcohol may have been involved in this case as well. the suspect is expected to be formerly charged sometime tomorrow morning. police want to interview a witness that they are told spoke with the suspect before the suspect fled on foot. please contact police if you have information on that witness. walter perez, channel 6 "action news." a motorcycle and pickup truck collided in newcastle county, the impact turned the truck on its side. it happened at 10:45 in minquadale. the driver was taken to the hospital and traffic was backed

officials at los angeles international airport have given the all clear after a scare on the tarmac. s.w.a.t. officials boarded the plane with police dogs concerning a flight coming in from houston. nothing was found. on health check, mosquitos affected with zika are not in the continental u.s., but could be in the next month or so. now they are starting a push to protect residents. ali gorman has more at the big board tonight. >> reporter: there have not been any cases transmitted by mosquitos here, but that could

change as we move into mosquito season, health officials are trying to get the word out. the best way to prevent it it to avoid getting the mosquito bites, zika provention kits, are given to state clinics next week, as recommended by the cdc, they have repellant and thermometers and informational packets. taking precautions will help prevent zika and other illnesses such as west nile virus. this may give new parents a peace of mind. it may feel cruel to let a baby cry it out but it's okay westbound minutes. doctors found that babies that cried it out or had their bedtimes pushed back, had to long-term emotional harm. parents should not ignore a

crying baby but len edge the time to go back in and comfort them. >> people with type 2 diabetes, therapy is a recommended option, it helps people lose weight and will help them control their blood levels and lower their risk for heart disease. it's an option for some people but today the american diabetes association added it to their official guidelines. they show people that had type 2 diabetes and had weight loss surgery were able to control their blood levels better than those with traditional treatment. this could open the door for more people to have baratic surgery. doctors say it has become safer with new advances. of course i would tell anyone who is considering this option to speak with a team of experts and talk to someone that had the

completely, we get under the influence of that bermuda high heat pump and that brings us the very warm air. tonight the clouds are clearing out and it's a mild night. 60 in philadelphia and allentown 52 and wilmington 59 and trenton 56 and cape may 59 degrees and future tracker showing the heat is on. by 4:0086 degrees and plenty of sunshine and low humidity. i think tomorrow is the pick of the week. and then on thursday we get a little bit warmer and add humidity. 88 degrees. and friday a good shot of actually hitting 90 degrees. heading into the weekend i want to bring your attention to this area of disturbed weather in the southern bahamas, it's sitting here for a while. there is this stationary front with low pressure developing along that and the water is warm, 80 degrees there and there is not a lot of winds aloft. and this could become tropical storm bonnie and could be

battle pediatric cancer. but we have breaking news to pass along. chopper 6 hd is over the septa station at 15th and market streets with reports of an incident of a person on the tracks. it went out at 5:00 and is affecting rail traffic along the market frankford line. it's not clear if the person was struck by a train but the power has been shut off in the area. this is 13th and market in center city and septa is shuttle busing passengers between 30th street station and spring garden station, because of this incident. again, there are reports of a person that may have been on the tracks and the power is shut off and again it's causing big problems for folks along the market frankford line. we'll keep an eye on the situation and bring you information as it becomes available here in center city philadelphia. now the 2016 race for the white house. the democratic and republican frontrunners are increasing

weapon. camden detectives are investigating the fourth murder in that city in the past four days. at 30 and and royden. they arrived at the scene and found stanley brown shot in the street, he was rushed to the hospital but did not survive his injuries. philadelphia police are trying to get to the bottom of a shooting inside of a record studio in northern liberties, happening along the 500 block of north fourth street, that a ninth district police officer was at hahnemann hospital in a separate case. he got out of a gray car and limped into the er with a gunshot wound. he was told that there had been a shooting. >> two people are questioned in the shooting and so far no one has been charged. authorities would like to hear from you right away. >> all right rick, at least one person was taken to the hospital

following a crash in northeast philadelphia today. "action news" was along bustleton avenue as one victim was put on a backboard and into a waiting ambulance, it appears that two cars hit each other head-on and the man from the cruiser had to be cut from the wreckage and he is secretaried to be okay. this is dylan nun right there, he is being accused of making and selling edible marijuana. police say that a newark police officer came in contact with nunn at the lake creek park. they got a search warrant and found lsd and gummy candies and fruit loop cereal bars made with marijuana. he posted a $50,000 bond. well, once again 6 abc is joining forces with childrens hospital of philadelphia in the fight against pediatric cancer. we are hosting the chop daisy
