policy to let the fires burn. wendy saltzman is at coatesville area high school. wendy it's an alarming situation. what are the details? >> a community activist says the school turn nood a war zone with a brutal fight caught on camera. one brawl after another brought up in the classroom. >> there are four or five or seven fights a day. >> they tell "action news" that this is a daily reality for freshman and sophomores, and now alfonso is the one pulling no punches. >> we have security that are not allowed to break up fights and police that are not allowed in the school unless they report to the superintendant. >> he tells us that the videos were provided to him by students and educators too afraid to talk on camera and too afraid of their own safety.

>> teachers will be fired or suspended if they complain. they are afraid for their jobs. >> these videos are just a small sample of the beat downs that occurred this year. >> it's a lot of violence going on. >> we contacted the district superintendant, multiple times towed and by phone they confirmed the fights and said violence will not be tolerated. >> just a few days ago there was a seven versus seven fight, it was pretty crazy. >> the superintendant says that they are adding security guards here at the main campus and added four more security guards and continuing to review their security protocol with the help of local law enforcement. i'm wendy saltzman, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a phone scam is targeting residents and businesses in burlington county. officials say a group of thieves posing as representatives of

utility companies and the irs. they claim to be collectors and demand immediate payments from their targets. police are saying these types of scams are more and more common throughout south jersey. be wary of callers that threaten to terminate your service. and they have charged tom cook with vehicular homicide and involuntarily manslaughter. police say the 35-year-old was riding at a high rate of speed when he ran into a septa bus canopy. tyra winchester was arraigned on attempted murder for allegedly raxing a willis town police car last week. winchester was captured in center city today. police in willis town township

say they pulled him over for a stolen vehicle and then he put it in reverse and slammed into a police car several times and then fled. police are searching for gunman after a deadly shootout in the german town section of philadelphia. two groups of men got into an argument outside of the old pathmark, a 25-year-old man died after being shot in the chest. none are in this area but nine pennsylvania gas stations are given permission to sell six-packs of beer, that is a revolution in the commonwealth and a matter of time before freeing the six-pack movement spreads across pennsylvania. sara bloomquist is live at spring garden and delaware avenue in philadelphia. sara what is the story here. >> reporter: well jim, today governor tom wolf praised the

pennsylvania liquor control board for freeing the six-pack. you can't buy beer at this north liberties lukoil at least not yet but they are looking for ways to modernize the state's liquor laws. >> pump your gas and grab a six-pack, it may be a reality coming to a gas station near you. today the liquor board approved nine applications to sell six-packs of beer. >> it's convenient. 7-elevens and gas stations and stuff like that. i don't have a problem with it. >> i'm not against it as long as they card everybody and don't allow the underage drinkers it may be a good thing for us. >> governor wolf who sent a letter asking the board to grant the licenses, pointed to a court decision allowing the sales if the points of sale are separate,

on the other hand separate cash registers. young kim works at this northern beer distributor one that opposes the change. kim thinks the code is just fine the way it is. >> everyone has their liquor here all in the same place. >> but they all cannibalize each other and in one is able to really make out well. >> the current code is aimed at cutting down on competition with the state stores and drunk driving, customers are concerned with just that, and they are all for the added convenience. >> you go get gas and beer and you start drinking and driving. and it's not a good idea at all. >> it might be nice to grab a six-pack instead of a full case. it's great. >> now, the nine new licenses are for groceries and convenience stores in western and northeastern pennsylvania.

but the door is now open leading many to believe that more gas stations across the state will get approval to sell beer. live in northern liberties, i'm sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. philadelphia is going after businesses that owe the city back taxes. this morning mayor jim kenney announced a feasibility study for recouping tax debts. he proposes selling off the debts to third parties an initiative that the study will take a look at. the u.s. navy held an open house at the horsham community center to answer questions about contaminated water in parts of montgomery and buck county. chemicals used in aviation firefighter foam at the naval center in warminster may have seeped into the ground water, as a result 16 municipal wells five in horsham and six in warminster

are shut down along with 80 private wells. a big problem there. a new state of the art theater inside of convenience center is now named for the man you just saw. former mayor michael nutter, he served as the chairman of the board of directors for the dedication, the 600 seat theater offers a g 4 film screen and a four k cinema projectors, the theater will be used for film festivals and movie premiers and corporate meeting. more than 400 of chester's best and brightest students were honored. they all received rising star awards. to qualify they had to submit an application detailing their academic achievements as well as their contributions no the community. coming up lisa thomas-laury will be here for one last time. we'll look back at her

lets have some fun. >> but in 2004 lisa's health took a sudden turn for the worst. a rare nerve disorder began tale stealing her ability to walk and even talk. doctors at the mayo clinic attacked the disease with a bone marrow transplant and the rehab was grueling and lisa shared her story with oprah in 2007. >> you needed a bone marrow transplant? >> i had a bone marrow transplant last august that saved my life. >> did you think you were going to die? >> no, never. >> she focused on reporting with people overcoming hardships. last year the nerve disorder returned with a vengeance and lisa would undergo another bone marrow trance plants and she is on the road to recovery, here it

is ending but she is writing is ending but she is writing another chapter in her life. and i know of no one that used television to touch more hearts and more souls in this country than lisa thomas-laury. >> oh thank you so much jim. it has been a wonderful ride, i cannot believe it's 38 years, some of those scenes you had to use the one with the big hair -- but over the last few days i had an outpouring of love and support and i wanted to take this opportunity to let our viewers know how much they have meant to me over the last three decades almost four, from my first day on the job to the stories i brought you through my wedding and birth of my sons and my illness of course, have you been there, offering your support, your concern and comfort and especially when i return from my health crisis, you made sure i knew every day you had me in your thoughts and
