good afternoon sara is off. we begin with breaking news from bucks county. an attempted robbery led to a shooting inside of this pharmacy in levittown. police say two men tried to rob the place but the owner pulled out his own gun and opened fire. one suspect is dead and the other is under arrest. chad pradelli is live. >> reporter: the alleged armed robber, got more than just medicine, he got quite a bit of led. the owner fired nearly a dozen shots, fatally wounding one robber and his body remains in the pharmacy. detectives and police remain on the scene gathering evidence. that the vehicle with which the two suspects pulled up in. what happens next inside of the pharmacy is detailed by falls township police. >> the passenger gets out armed

with a shotgun and goes into the store goes behind the counter and attempted to rob the owner of the store and the owner is armed with his own handgun. he has a camera system and saw the robber coming in with the shotgun and was prepared for the armed intruder. he shoots at the armed gunman when he pointed the gun at him and the intruder dies at the scene. >> the second suspect remains inside of the minivan, he didn't know that police were already called. when police arrived they swarmed that vehicle and took the second suspect into custody. names are not released and we are expecting to learn more information at a press conference. but it appears that the armed robbers were going to try to clear out the pharmacy, there were zip ties by the fatally wounded suspect.

it appears they would tie up the pharmacy owner and clear out the place. the pharmacy owner was the only person inside, no customers or employees. we'll have more coming up on later editions of "action news." one suspect dead and one in custody in this armed robbery. chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. in other news now, at this hour there is and intense search underway at ft. hood, texas, after a military training. five american soldiers are dead and four still missing after their truck overturned in floodwaters. crews resume sd searching the creek where the vehicle was swept away yesterday. marcy gonzales is following the story from new york. >> reporter: rick, this is in a remote area, this search is incredibly challenging and as you mentioned search teams worked through the night and still out there right now

determined to find those soldiers. relentless flooding in texas, homes under water -- >> oh my god! >> vehicles swept away. everyone escaped from this suv in granbury. their truck overturned in a creek during a training exercise. >> the situation the rain came and the water was rising quickly and at the time they were in the place they were training and it's an unfortunate accidents that occurred quickly. >> four other soldiers are missing. >> our priority has been since the first report of this incidents and continues to be, the search for our four missing teammates. >> over the past several days, there are 550 high water rescues across texas. with the river over record

levels, the governor declaring a state of disaster in 31 counties, more than half of the state still under a flood water. and while the water is starting to recede in some places, there is still a threat of flash flooding in parts of texas through tomorrow. reporting live, marcy gonzales, channel 6 "action news." rick back to you. >> back here now turning to the accuweather forecast. it's a gloomy end to the work week on this first friday of june. looking live outside, there are cloudy conditions looking at the center city skyline, and more wet weather in store this weekend as well. meteorologist, melissa magee is in for david murphy tracking the latest. >> reporter: hi there rick. we had showers earlier this morning and things start to thin out a bit as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan still some light showers for ocean, burlington, atlanticic and cumberland counties in south jersey. as we go into the 95 corridor,

the moisture in the region starting to dissipate a bit. on street level of stormtracker 6 live double scan east of the manayunk, and south of that, in philadelphia light showers peppering the radar and same for haddonfield and north and east of woodbury as well. temperatures are cooler than this time yesterday. 6 degrees cooler in philadelphia coming in at 69 and 71 for lancaster. and 67 doctor there's in trenton. we look at the evening commute it's cloudy with a few sunny breaks. 75 degrees is the temperature at 4:00 p.m. and hold at that number at 5:00 and lower 70s at 6:00 and 7:00 with a stray shower likely. as we get into the weekend showing you a 50/50 weekend, tomorrow clouds and sunshine and a stray shower is likely in spots. the rain looks to move in on

sunday and much of which could be heavy at times. we'll take a closer look at that, coming up with the full and exclusive accuweather forecast. >> stay with 6abc.com/weather through the weekend. a woman and her 5-year-old daughter remains hospitalized after a fire inside of their home in northeast philadelphia. annie mccormick has the latest on their condition. >> the mother and little girl are in critical condition at different hospitals. the mother at temple university and the little girl transferred to saint christopher's hospital. today their family is asking for prayers. >> she is 5 years old. she is 5 years old, just hope for the best. >> residents in this morel park neighborhood fought to save sophia olson when flames broke out in their home.

>> we are a small family and keep to ourselves. it's a tragedy. >> before rushing back to saint christopher's hospital, her uncles thanked those that reached through the smoke to rescue his niece including a firefighter and police officer. neighbors described the scene. >> it was horrible, her mom ran in there several times to try to save her, she was coming out black from head to toe. and completely covered in soot and my heart was breaking for them. >> the mom was screaming, my baby is in there. the man next door bho -- a policeman was covered in soot. >> the off duty firefighter helped to transport victims including the 40-year-old mother

identified by family as christina haines. >> fire officials announced late this morning, that they did not find working smoke detectors in the home and the cause is still under investigation. >> in northeast philadelphia, annie mccormick, channel 6 "action news." now to the latest from the campaign trail this noon. police in california, took at least 4 people into custody after another donald trump rally turned violent. trump protesters clashed in san jose. some protesters grabbed trump hats and set them on fire. no reports of injuries or major damage, trump is holding another rally in an hour from now in reading, california. similar protests are not expected there. meanwhile hillary clinton and bernie sanders are campaigning in california. bill clinton and hillary clinton have events scheduled throughout the weekend. and bernie sanders is making

emotions ran high in a courtroom in ohio when a father dove across a table to get at the convicted sex offender that killed his daughter. he was attending the hearing for michael madison, he is accused of killing three women including terry's daughter, he went to the podium to give a statement and turned and lunge when the suspect smiled at him. >> you caused my baby great pain. >> police dragged terry out of the courtroom and the prosecutors office is reviewing

the situation and he said he did what he thought was right as a father. an ohio prosecutor will make the decision over the parents whose child fell into a gorilla exhibit. critics say his parents should have been watching their child more closely. they are reviewing the vest dwags into the family's actions and announce whether they are file charged on monday. in the meantime. the zoo is planning to reopen the exhibit with a higher, reinforced barrier sometime next week. disappointed tourists are turned away from the famous louvre museum in paris. it has workers scrambling to move priceless art. moving master pieces from the first floor to higher ground as the river continues to overflow its banks, it's expected to peak

a new report shows u.s. reporters drastically slowed their hiring last month. the labor department says that 38,000 jobs were added in the month of may and that is the fewest in five years, and experts believe it's a sign of economic growth. and that may be because many jobless americans gave up looking for work and they are no longer counted as unemployed. turning to health check this noon. the fda hopes a new treatment option helps to fight the opioid

jersey, and also with this frontal boundaries closing in. showers in the poconos and northern lehigh and berks coins as well. we'll show the picture outside, sky 6 hd looking at penn's landing, friday afternoon it's cloudy and humidity is in the air and temperatures are cooler than they were the same time yesterday. 6 degrees cooler in philadelphia than just 24 hours ago. at this hour currently, numbers are at 69 in philadelphia and same thing in wilmington and 71 for reading and lancaster and up in the poconos 63 and the coast in beach haven, 67 and 71 in millville. here is satellite 6 along with action radar we have the frontal boundary hanging around our region and spotty showers are likely. right now the clouds are overhead and there could be sunny break as we go through afternoon hours. a stray shower is something we have to leave in the forecast.

so the call from accuweather for the rest of today. mostly cloudy and a stray shower is likely otherwise the sunny breaks will get the temperatures in the upper 70s today and cooler than yesterday, yesterday a high of 84 and today in the 70s. overnight tonight an early shower and dropping down to 66 in philadelphia for the overnight low. here is the setup for us into our weekend on saturday, it's a warmer day and up to 84 degrees and it will be one of those days we have more in the way of sunshine and an isolated shower in philadelphia. and then on sunday we are tracking the front that continues to get closer to our region. a high temperature on sunday of 79 degrees and there will be the likelihood of strong storms firing up across our region especially south of philadelphia. as far as rain it looks to be heavy at times, we could find 1 to 2 inches of rainfall across the region, the storm prediction center placed us in a slight

police now have a big clue that could lead to his killer. we are live with the latest on the investigation. and a boy stands up to two armed robbers at a video game store. now to the developing story out of bucks county where police say the own of a pharmacy shot and killed a robber. it happened at levittown, the man entered the store way shotgun and announced the robbery that is when the owner took out his own gun and fired. the second suspect was wait outside in a vehicle and police came and took him into custody. police remain on the scene in levittown and we'll continue to cover the story on "action news" and online at 6abc.com. we continue to track rain showers across the region and the good news is the rain should let up as the day goes
