in this murder case. a second major break in the last 24 hours. police have now recovered surveillance pictures of the man who drove up here and abandoned the stolen van on ruscomb street yesterday afternoon. it is the stolen van police confirm of the elderly southwest philadelphia man found brutally murdered in his home on tuesday. detectives were in this frankford neighborhood today seeking surveillance video from these cameras mounted on the outside of an apartment building in the 4700 block of griscom. it was here last night that police found the stolen ford e150 van taken sunday night from the row home of joseph daily in southwest philadelphia. the 78-year-old was beaten and strangled inside his theodore street house. his body was not discovered until tuesday when police entered for a welfare check. the van resurfaced here on griscom yesterday afternoon. neighbors are not surprised that trouble from across town could land here. >> not surprised at all.

there's a murder or a body found here two, three times a week. >> reporter: in this neighborhood. >> in this neighborhood, yes. since i been here in february, four bodies i know of. >> reporter: some time earlier the stolen fan pulled into this repair shop just steps from where the van was recovered. the owners told me two young males asked them to replace or repair the flat tire but they were turned away when they claimed to have no money to pay. moments later police found the van right across the street abandoned. >> i wish they would turn themself in to be honest with you and get it over with. face the fact like you do wrong, like you going to pay for it. go ahead and get it over with the. >> reporter: rick witnesses on theodore street in southwest philadelphia told police they say three young males fleeing from dale's home overnight sunday into monday morning. city hall has now of course posted the standard $20,000 in reward money for information leading to the capture of

joseph daily's killers. live in frankford vernon odom channel6 "action news. >> students will to be evacuated after a fire. no students were injured but they were sent home for the day. damage was minor. no word yet on a cause. >> dozens of video and audio clips from investigations involving police in chicago are now posted online. this is an unprecedented step in that city's effort to rebuild trust in its embattled police force. the agency that investigates police misconduct released the data which does include recordings of 911 calls and original case reports. and the video is not just from dash cams, it's also from bystanders recordings on their cell phones. some of it is disturbing. one video shows an officer here slamming a woman face first right there into the hood of a car and others show the aftermath of police shootings.

this is just the beginning of what officials promise will be a continuing process there. >> you will be seeing more and more cases coming out but as i said my focus right now is to make sure that they are done with quality and hopefully in thyme leeness will come about as well. >> chicago is now the largest city in the nation to have any kind of official rules for releasing videos of what they call police excessive force. the prosecution has rested in the corruption trial of pennsylvania congressman chaka fattah today. his defense began making its case this afternoon. the 59-year-old is charged with accepting bribes and misusing campaign funds and federal grants. the case is tied to his failed run for mayor in 2007. fattah maintains his innocence. >> two years ago this month, pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane was featured in reports calling her one of the brightest stars in the democratic party. today the embattled kane is preparing to unceremoniously leave office while fighting criminal charges. she maintains her office continues to do its work.

well, kane sat down for an interview with me at our studio this week to talk about what happened. >> i loved my job. i'm grateful that i ran. i'm grateful that i was elected and i will do it all over again even knowing the trials and tribulations that i have personally been put through. >> and the trials and tribulations have been many for kathleen kane. her term as pennsylvania's first elected female and democratic attorney general has been tainted by controversy and scandal. she has been charged with perjury and obstruction by montgomery county prosecutors and faces a criminal trial in august. she has spearheaded the so-called porn gate investigation after a series of lewd and inappropriate e-mails discovered on state computers. a final report was supposed to be released this week but has been delayed raising suspicions about its findings. kane will only say the report does confirm evidence of government impropriety. >> when you have government officials whether they're judges prosecutors or defense attorneys or law enforcement

personnel and they are looking at such misogynistic e-mails you can't have that. >> reporter: yet, with less than seven months left in office, kane says she's in some ways looking forward to leaving the political arena and spending more time with her two teenaged sons who have both been affected, she says, by the professional turmoil. >> i think it's been difficult on them. i've heard about some things happening at school for them. but they've handled it and i'm proud of the strength there they have shown. >> reporter: and kane says she wants to show that she's not shying away from doing her job, of fighting crime and corruption despite the scandals. her one regret, though, not realizing that her biggest obstacles would come from within, combating her political opponents who she admits to definitely underestimating. >> when i thought i was going to fight the good old boys i sure did but i had no idea how rough and tumble they were going to be. >> kathleen kane's term in office will officially end january 1st of next year. i asked her if she would ever

consider running for another elected office one day. she told me she hasn't ruled it out but right now she's trying to focus more on the present than the future. monica. >> ♪ >> senator bernie sanders making a final push for votes ahead of next tuesday's primaries. new jersey and california are the big ticket states. polls show him possibly winning california. and i talked to senator sanders today by satellite. he said he is confident he can win the state. i also asked him about some of the violence that we have seen lately during the protests. >> the american people are angry. they are angry that the middle class is disappearing, that almost all new incan come and wealth is going to the top 1 percent. they are angry that their jobs are going to china and they're working for low wages. but violence is not how you address that issue. >> and i asked sanders not if he would be clinton's vice president if she wins but the opposite if he would ask her to be his vice president if he wins and he says it's just too

soon to say. meantime mrs. clinton's campaign in california today trying to secure that slim lead. she held a star-studded event in culver city, california. coming up at 5:30 we'll tell you about that as well as what donald trump was doing today. >> we have breaking news from burlington county, new jersey tonight where crews are trying to rescue a man stuck in a grain bin at this hour here in chesterfield township a farm here in chesterfield township. happened around 3 o'clock this afternoon at the probasco farm at 89 sykesville road in chesterfield township. officials say the man is stuck in a grain bin on the farm with the grain up to his neck apparently. officials expect this to be an extended operation. we of course will keen you updated. we're looking live from chopper6 at the rescue operation. we'll have much more information as it becomes available to us. >> controversy is brewing as a montgomery county school district prepares for graduation in just a week and a half some of the say prayer is part of the ceremony tradition. but school officials say prayer should stay off the

"action news" reporter gray hall has details. tradition is ending at pottsgrove schools. there will no longer be prayer during high school ceremonies. school board president rick rabb bin witnesses said it became an issue during last year's graduation when a student used the name of jesus and other religious phrases. >> caused some concern for some parents and caused some concern for me. >> reporter: after the incident the superintendent consulted with the district solicitor who determined the benedictions or invocations were a violation of constitutional law and the practice was ended. >> there have been a fair number of parents who told me that it always made them uncomfortable but they never said anything. there were also a fair number of parents who think it's a travesty that we're considering removing them. parents we talked to were mixed on the topic. danielle leach says she's a christian and while she supports having prayer she says the supreme court ruling against school led or school sponsored prayer is clear. >> there will be an acceptable compromise something i know that the community live with.

i expect that in the future it will be -- it will be a beautiful new administration. >> reporter: others in the community are not in favor of the change and want students to have the right to choose. >> they have a right. i think to express whatever their heart is during that graduation ceremony and if they would like to give thanks to god i think that's their constitutional right. >> reporter: rabb bin witnesses says students still have the right to pray it just cannot be sanction isd by the district. he adds the school board will likely not vote against the courts and local solicitor. >> but if we did that we would be putting our district at legal risk and those same parents that want us to have prayer certainly don't want us to raise their taxes. >> reporter: the school board is holding a meeting next week in hopes of getting public input about this issue. while it is highly unlikely that will be a benediction or invocation added to the program everyone is hoping for a compromise in time for graduation scheduled for june 15. in pottstown gray hall channel6 "action news." >> professional cyclist will take over several streets in

>> time for accuweather at the "action news" big board friday night. >> that's right. meteorologist cecily tynan with our forecast which is sort of so-so. >> not one of the best weekends but it's not going to be a washout. but we're starting out with a lot of clouds, it's humid out there. sky6 taking a look at philadelphia international airport. we have a pretty good cloud deck. no showers right now but with the clouds temperatures quite a bit cooler than yesterday. yesterday in the 80's. philadelphia 75 right now. allentown 73. wilmington 74. and cape may currently only 68 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar showing we did have a round of showers this morning. they have now pushed on. the actual cold front, a weak cold front i'm tracking is still across western pennsylvania.

so, this will be sliding through tonight. could kick off an isolated shower or two but mainly we're just looking at a a lot of of clouds, some fog developing as well with the wet ground. temperatures not really all that cool with the clouds, 66 degrees in philadelphia, allentown and cape may 63 and wilmington 65 degrees. future tracker showing tomorrow will be the better of the two days. that being said, we're not going to see a lot of sunshine. in the morning at 8 o'clock lots of clouds, some fog and then i think we will see some breaks of sunshine but then in the afternoon we will get some showers bubbling up. this is a little bit overdone but we'll have scattered light showers. so not completely dry tomorrow but a few peeks of sunshine. sunday we have real two features moving through. in the morning there's a warm front. so that could bring us a round of some light showers around 6 o'clock in the morning. then we get a break in the action but then late in the day and sunday evening, this is when a powerful cold front will be pulling through and this is what could cause some

very active weather. in fact, the severe storm prediction center has put areas southwest of philadelphia in an enhanced risk of severe weather. what this means is that any storm could have damaging winds, hail and even the threat of an isolated tornado. so, the key time really between about 4 o'clock in the afternoon until 9 o'clock in the evening. strong to severe thunderstorms. the winds are the main threat with wind gusts up to about 60 miles per hour. also, there's going to be a lot of moisture in the air. it's a really juicy air mass and we could have flooding downpours up to about 2-inches, localized flooding and of course dangerous lightning so if you do hear that rumble of thunder, get inside immediately. so, the five at any at 5:00 showing tomorrow clouds with some sunshine and again a few spotty showers. it will be warm and humid with a high of 84 degrees. sunday, though, highlighting this, because this is when you really have to keep your eye to the sky, download that storm tracker6 app with strong thunderstorms in the afternoon, 81 degrees. behind this system on monday

in chesterfield township. we are told a man got stuck in a grain silo here at the probasco road. firefighters are trying to free him but to do that we are told they have to drain the grain out of that huge silo behind him to prevent the man from being injured. we're told he may have grain i was the way up to his neck. we have an "action news" crew on the way to the scene and we'll bring you the very latest in a live report coming up tonight at 6:00. >> now to another developing story where relentless flooding continues across the state of texas tonight. as millions of residents flee to higher ground. also the search continues for four missing soldiers from fort hood. they were part of a 12-person crew whose truck overturned during a training exercise in flooded waters. five people did not survive. abc's lauren lyster is live in los angeles tonight with more on the story. lauren. >> reporter: rick, a major general at fort hood today

it's like noah's arc. >> authorities have also closed a number of world famous tourist attractions including the louvre museum. the museum's curators are scrambling to move about 250,000 art works to higher floors just in case the building floods. >> now to the latest in the 2016 presidential election. republican donald trump will hold a rally in 100-degree heat in northern california and that could prevent a repeat of what happened outside a rally in san jose last night. meanwhile the presumptive republican nominee is under fire for comments that he made about the federal judge who is presiding over the trump university lawsuit. trump says u.s. district judge gonzalo cure yale has an inherent conflict of interest because he is "of mexican heritage." trump claims the bias stems from his claim to build a wall along the u.s.-mexico board. house speaker paul ryan called the comments out of left field. all three presidential candidates are hitting california hard in the final

weekend before tuesday's primary. hillary clinton was joined by hollywood a-list actresses sally field, elizabeth banks and debra messing for a rally here in culver city. clinton told supporter she hopes to lock up the nomination next tuesday. she also continued to blast donald trump calling him a candidate with no ideas to "rant and lie." latest california prayer polls still shows hillary clinton and bernie sanders neck and neck. less than 2 percent separates the democratic candidates well within the margin of error. there are 547 delegates up for grabs in the golden state. it will be divided according to final vote totals so it is still very much anybody's game. world news tonight with david muir will have much more on the presidential race as well as the devastating flooding in paris and texas. you can watch that following "action news at 6:00. >> from our delaware news room tonight seven people including six high school students were injured in a school bus crash this afternoon. this was the scene at about 3:30 at the intersection of

thorn lane and thorn court in minquedale. still not clear how it unfolded butter a school bus and a car were involved. we're told the students are from william penn high school. they along with the driver of the car were taken to the hospital to be checked out. the parents of a two-year-old ocean county girl who drowned in a neighbor's pool were officially indicted today. robert trella and brigitte mccarthy of berkeley township face 11 counts including endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled substance. it was last calling when their two-year-old daughter was found unresponsive in a neighbor's pool. police say when they went to their home they found marijuana and heroin. authorities add the couple's nine-year-old daughter often took care of the other children in the home. wet roads may have that contributed to this crash along lincoln drive in east falls this morning. happened near gypsy lane just after 6:00 a.m. officials say the suv went through a guardrail and landed on its side in a wooded area. the driver's injuries were minor.

no one else was hurt. >> a patient targeted a popular bar in manayunk. authorities released video so the public can maybe identify him. the suspect broke into kildare's irish pub about 4:00 a.m. he cased the restaurant for 45 minutes and then took some cash before leaving. if you know who this is, the philadelphia detectives want to hear from you. from our new jersey news room now, detectives in woodbury heights gloucester county looking for a suspected bank robber who forgot to put on shoes before targeting an m and t bank. surveillance pictures show the suspect driving away in a tan four-door car. >> it has been almost two years since the showboat casino hotel in atlantic city was shut down. but when it reopens next month, it will look a bit different. the hotel will still be called showboat but it won't have a casino. that's according to philadelphia developer bart blatstein. he wants slow boat to be a

nongambling luxury resort when it reopens to the public in july. showboat's former owners caesar's, closed the hotel back in august of 2014. the second of four atlantic city casinos to go out of business that year. >> all right. time to check on the business of traffic on a friday night. >> it's always a roll of a dice on friday night. matt pelman snake eyes i bet. >> if you wanted to get out before the big delays hit you missed the boat this evening. we have massive jams on the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound rick and monica, the whole way from fort washington out to bensalem where a truck flipped over on the eastbound off ramp earlier this afternoon. at this point that truck is off to the side. but huge delays remain. and around 7:30 tonight, we are expecting that they're going to close down the eastbound lanes of the turnpike the whole way back at fort washington. so, if you normally head for the eastbound turnpike headed toward new jersey over the next several hours i would use bristol road, street road, county line, route 63, stay local instead of in the eastbound lanes of 276.

>> cameras captured a bizarre incident here in a texas police station. a 28-year-old woman walked into the arlington police station and just started waving two knives in the air. the officer behind the desk demanded that she drop the weapons but she didn't. in fact she moved closer to the officer. other officers quickly rushed in right there to help. they used a taser to subdue her. the woman is okay and of course she was charged. pennsylvania legislature introduced four bills today to introduce gun safety. leslie acosta who serves philadelphia and madden line dean from montgomery county both democrats talked about the legislative package. it includes plesh viewers to ensure firearms are secured in a secure locker with a secure trigger when the owner is living with a minor. >> we thought the gravity of those numbers, thousands of children a year, i think we would have no other options than to do something about it and the legislation we're

warriors pulled away in the fourth going up by as many as 20. can curry amazingly only had 11 points. the bench led the way. golden state takes game one, 104-89. now the cavs with even more reason for revenge. they'll have to sit with this loss a few days. game two sunday night 8 p.m. on 6abc. who did you say it was the cavs bench that was going to lead the way. >> you know what, i know sports. let me sit there and you sit here. just kidding. it was good game, though. >> i'll take your job. >> i bet you would. no thank you. thanks, jamie. a television news crew jumped into action when they saw a baby deer trapped in flood waters in pennsylvania. a photo journalist kerry teraso and ashley hard way from pittsburgh's "action news" core were in westemoreland county when they spotted the animal struggling. kerry went into the water grabbed the off and on and brought the animal to a state trooper who also had stopped to help.

>> time for the weekend forecast. meteorologist adam joseph, first weekend in june, could be better. >> not the best of weekends, not a washout but we have to watch for the possibility of some strong to severe storms on sunday as we take a look at double scan live radar it was a wet start to our friday this morning in many locations, some areas picking up close to a half inch to three-quarters

of an inch in chester county but as of right now the clouds really dominating the area but not tracking any rain presently. the humidity has come up despite that temperatures are much cooler than the last couple days. 75 philadelphia, 74 in wilmington. poconos with nascar in town 66 degrees and right along the shore temperatures there also only in the 60's. as we look at satellite and radar we have again a little bit of that cloud cover a couple scattered showers to the north and south of philadelphia. but as we look to the west, we have moisture coming in out of the gulf of mexico, low pressure near dallas. this one will overall fall apart. pieces of this will merge with the low pressure in the northern plains. this all slides to the east and that's what will bring the unsettled weather especially as we go into sunday. but for tonight, cloudy, muggy, areas of fog developing with that damp ground and also the higher humidity. 63 he in the suburbs, 66 degrees for center city. and as we look at the day planner for your saturday, again, tomorrow it is not a washout.

there will be some sun breaking through that cloud cover. responding those temperatures back into the low 80's. it is very muggy as well but there's also a chance of an isolated shower in many locations in afternoon but if you get hit by them they'll be relatively light and move on pretty quickly. then on sunday, we'll have a warm front drifting through so there will be one round of rain early in the morning on sunday. then the clouds take over through much of the day on sunday. there could be a few peeks of sun but that will tend to pop up some of these strong storms in the afternoon on sunday. they will be hit or miss and then with a cold front in the afternoon and evening, we could see a squall line developing with strong to severe storms late sunday afternoon into sunday evening around 7 o'clock in philadelphia. but if you're going to be at the shore these strong storms should hold off until the latter part of the evening and overnight hours of sunday. so, the risk with these storms, the highest potential will be the dangerous cloud to ground lightning, torrential downpours and really strong

winds and even a moderate chance for a some large hail or even an isolated tornado. so, if you're heading to the shore this weekend, again, most of the time it is dry. some peeks of sun tomorrow. 74. but clouds will dominate both days and then watch for some of those gusty storms late in the day on sunday of 76 degrees. the poconos dry tomorrow. it's probably one of the best locations to be to see some sun tomorrow at 76. and then we'll watch for those downpours through much of the day on sunday of 68. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, we're back into the 80's over the weekend. tomorrow an isolated shower with some peeks of sun. very humid on sunday with those strong to severe storms especially in the afternoon at 81 and then will bring a refreshing breeze as that front clears the coast on sunday night. so, monday it's 82, dropping humidity and then another strong front late tuesday with more possible strong to severe storms at 83 and then a big change behind that wednesday,

working to free a 71-year-old man who fell into the grain around 2:00 p.m. we believe they may have just rescued him seconds before we came on air here at 6:00. now at one point he was up to his chest in grain. chopper6 was over the huge rescue operation using multiple ladder trucks from the chesterfield and surrounding areas. i spoke with a woman who identified herself as the man's wife and she tells me that he is conscious and that crews stabilized him in a cage to prevent him from slipping any further. but because of the extreme pressure against him, the grain needed to be drained before they could pull him out. now, his wife says the man's name is chris probasco. he's a 71-year-old who has been farming all his life. now rescue crews right now, if you come back live, you may be able to see the gentleman being wheeled into the ambulance behind him. it appears he might be right behind the truck here. the ambulance it looks like from a diffe
