we're talking about severe weather that doesn't happen this morning, it happens in the afternoon and evening. the storm prediction center has us at a moderate risk for severe weather especially for the chance of damages winds. we'll have lightning downpours and strong winds and large hail and tornados not out of the question for our region. let's run it down for you in the morning hours we have an early passing shower. we have a few downpours and still have a chance for that. much of the morning is humid with clouds and chance of a shower. we get a break this afternoon. if you want to run out, it's not a bad early start to the day. it's late this afternoon and evening. i would say after 3:00 p.m., that's when we're watching for the chance for widespread thunderstorms and the threat of severe weather and that lasts through the evening hours. i'll show you that on future tracker 6. we'll see where it hits your town coming up in just a couple of minutes with with the excluse

no severe weather this morning. let's go outside and see what it looks like yes down the shore atlantic city you can see the rain drops we just showed you on storm tracker 6 live. we have a couple of rain drops they will be picking up as we saw the rain moving toward atlantic city currently. 69 degrees, the dewpoint 65. it's sticky out there. the pressure is falling. the winds are light. the ocean temperature that's up nicely. last week we were in the upper 50s and we're in the upper 60s. my son was at the shore in the ocean yesterday. we have clouds through the region. the first batch of showers not threatening. this is a warm front lifting through the area. the potent cold front that's out to the west will take a while to fire up and move through the region. future tracker showing what's happening. this is a look at 12:30 p.m., a shower and breaks of sunshine. not a big deal.

new this morning, investigators in southern california say a car crash caused this massive brushfire this started northwest of los angeles. hundreds were forced to evacuate their homes and they homes have been damaged. firefighters have been able to make a little bit progress saying the fire is 15% contained. one of the for fort hood soldiers killed in the training exercise was from jersey city. the flooding emergency near the gulf coast is worsening, they are warning residents to evacuate. east coast is bracing for severe weather. florida could see between 5 and

former president bill clinton will muhammad ali at a public funeral in louisville, kentucky. a five-year-old girl who was injured in a house fire in northeast philadelphia has died. sophia olsen died yesterday at st. christopher's hospital. she and her mother was critically injured when a fire started at the home thursday on the 3700 block of south hereford lane. sophia olsen was trapped in a back bedroom. her mother tried to rescue her before crews arrive. she is in stable condition. no words on the cause of the fire. a stabbing is in the strawberry mansion section of the city on west cecil b. moore avenue. two men got into an altercation

when one pulled out a knife and stabbed the other in the chest. the suspect ran away, the victim is in stable condition. turning to the race for 2015. hillary clinton is another step closer to clinching the democratic nomination. she won the virgin islands caucuses and picked up 7 delegates. voters in several states including california and new jersey will cast their ballots on tuesday. clinton could secure the nomination once the results in new jersey are announced. hillary clinton will face the questions on this week with george stephanopoulos on "action news" at 9:00 a.m. he may be down in the delegate count, bernie sanders is not calling it quits. he hopes to win big in california on tuesday. he said a win there could send him to the democratic convention with momentum. john rawlins checked out

atlantic city, and cape may. we have showers moving through the city right now. we're looking live with our temple university camera and you can see the dark clouds up above. right now we have showers moving through. 69 degrees, the current temperature, the dewpoint, 65. humid out there. the pressure is falling. winds are light. the ocean temperature has warmed up from last week. 68 degrees. satellite and radar showing we have light showers moving through. we're seeing one or two downpours with that, it's not threatening weather it's clouds and showers. the actual cold front is well out to the west. this warm front that's lifting through isn't give us too much headaches if you're out and about in it it will be moving through. you may see a shower in one or two spots, we'll have a lull in the afternoon. we look at 3:30 p.m. we see cells beginning to fire up.

this model shows breaks of sunshine. that could help to destabilize the atmosphere and enhance the risk for severe weather. we look at 6:00 p.m. we see a powerful line of storms. anytime you see areas of purple, usually an indication we're getting hail and damaging winds as the severe weather moves through at 6:00 p.m. it moves quickly through the area and beyond that we dry out and clear out. once the warm front lifts through it stays warm and sticky. when that powerful cold front comes through, that's the trouble we get. that's the reason we could get the chance of severe weather. 8:00 a.m., 69 degrees, maybe a shower. 10:00 a.m., 72 lots of clouds, a shower, noon, dry and humid, 75 passing shower and humid lots of clouds. 3:00 p.m. that's when we keep our eyes west of the city to start to see the storms form.

running thanks to a host of programs in school, the community and online. most runners will have an injury at some point. this week's kids health matters erin o'hern looks at a common injury and how to prevent it. soccer was the first sport for naroy and then she discovered running. i was a doing a hundred meter sprint and around 50 meters i felt something snap or pool. it was intense pain. >> reporter: the pain died down, but came back if she tried to run. dr. said those are classic signs of shin splints. the sharp pain is on the front of the shin or inside of

the shin. >> reporter: we see it with a change in training, if they increase mileage, or change the torrain or find out they have not changed their shoes. when she had pain walking around school the doctor was concerned about stress fracture. she is working on lower le. >> reporter: lots of stretching. staying on the sidelines is tough. the doctor said with rest this summer she should okay for soccer in fall. warm up properly and stop if you feel any pain. erin o'hern channel 6 "action news."

for 6abc loves the arts i'm david murphy. thousands of comic book and movie fans have converted on philadelphia for the wizard world comic-con. inside the pennsylvania convention center many folks are dressed as their favorite characters, if you're a marvel fan this is the place to be today. captain america will be there for autographs and pictures. comic-con continues today from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. our own gray hall had a chance to be with viewers, right, gray? it was so fun, i enjoyed all the individuals dressed in costume. the best fun was meeting all the viewers and the kids they were so articulate.
