kidnapped and shot. it happened in southwest philadelphia, "action news" reporter, chad pradelli talked with the victim's family and is live now at pen presbyterian hospital. >> the victim has remained at the hospital since last night and family members say he underwent surgery to remove the bullet from his head and is expected to recover but the assailants are at large. >> he always working just to survive -- >> relatives are saddened by the cold blooded attempted excuse last night. investigators say that surah delivered a pizza to beaumont. >> he went to the driver's side to take the food and then got out and they took the gun and said get into the car.

check. chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. police in philadelphia are investigating two separate sexual assaults against women tonight. last night police say that felix ramos tried to rape a woman behind the shopping center. she called police after she was attacked in the woods helped the del air shopping center. she gave a good description of the man and they took him into custody and then positively identified ramos. a woman was stabbed in an attempted robbery and assault. police say around 11:00 last evening the woman attacked on the 800 block of west street road. a 33-year-old woman told police that she was ambushed getting into her vehicle and was able to escape into a nearby business where she called 911. the victim was treated for stab wounds at the hospital. philadelphia congressman, chaka fattah was back in a

federal courtroom today and his attorneys tried to prove he never broke the law. fattah is accused of nearly 30 counts of corruption, the prosecution rested last week after arguing that fattah miss used federal grants and loans after a failed run for mayor and to pay off his son's college tuition. i think if you went home early that paid off. we have a whole bunch of issues, including a disabled vehicle on i-95 southbound. but now the vehicle is being towed away. everything is reopen approaching allegheny and northbound slowing with typical afternoon volume and plenty slow on the pennsylvania turnpike heading eastbound speeds in the teens between valley forge and norristown. that is where there is a crash. east pikeland an accident along 23 schuylkill road by the french

creek inn. in east town township chester county, a tree and wires came down partially blocking sugar town road. and out near coatesville a crash helping you around 82 manor road 340 bypass. an accident at 495 in wilmington an hour ago, causing huge delays, 10 miles per hour now traveling through the city because right lanes are blocked. the much better bet is 95 northbound instead of 495 northbound. we have slow speeds near the delaware memorial bridge because of the construction delaware bound taking out the two left lanes throughout the evening until 8:00 tonight. they do this each tuesday for a number of weeks working on the suspense cables, it's wet in burlington county. and downed wires and closing skeet road in medford.

several hundred people in the lehigh valley will lose their jobs this summer. the craft haines company is closing their plant in upper macungie township. the employees will be let go in august. they are down sizing and closing six other plants. the success of the mastery school charter were celebrated. the entire class is moving on to new opportunities. today's signing day event was held on the campus of temple university. each senior is headed to college or going into the military or the workforce or attending job training. >> it's exciting to see every senior is going to college and having a future and the fact that mastery supports us is so

time for accuweather at the "action news" big board. cecily tynan is here with the word and things are about to switch around. >> that is right we have a big cool down on the way and unsettled weather and it all starts with storm as head a cold front. double scan live radar showing we have scattered activity across the northwest suburbs. the main line of storms has now reached the shore. not a lot of lightning with this, only two lightning strikes over the last 15 minutes, but

downpour as long the garden state parkway from oceansville to reed beach. and atlantic city you have the heaviest rain. on atlantic avenue you are getting poured on right now. this is pushing to the east quickly at 30 miles per hour. and that is the leading edge of cooler air that is moving in overnight. today temperatures made it into the 80s but you can see how we are cooling off dramatically, atlantic city airport a half hour ago was 88 degrees, it's now a rain cooled 67 and philadelphia 71 right now, we hit 83 today and allentown 73 degrees and temperatures will have a tough time tomorrow climbing out of the 60s. satellite 6 along with action radar showing this feature has two things with it. one cold front that is moving through and it hooks up to an upper level low, and that upper level low is moving through the day tomorrow and what that will do is bring us another round of storms and i want to show you

what is going on with some of these storms. jay lewis sent this to us, from pottstown today. these storms contained small hail, i would not be surprised if some storm his gusty winds and lightning and yes even small hail with cold air in the upper atmosphere. future tracker 6 showing as we head through tonight we clear things out by 11:00 and tomorrow morning the rush hour looks okay and then after 9:00 is when we'll see showers and thunderstorms developing across the northwest suburbs, this shows most of the activity across the lehigh valley and allentown and off the coast by 1:30. the middle of the day is when you need the umbrellas. the high is only 70 degrees, feeling cooler with the gusty winds and showers and thunderstorms in the middle of the day, on thursday we dry things out and still on the breezy side. 75 degrees and heading into the weekend it's looking nice on

and there was more he could have and should have done. >> and robin roberts speaks to "action news" about her interview with bobby brown. what will surprise the public about whitney houston's ex-husband. a stray bullet nearly took the life of a young boy being shielded by his parents. it happened while they were making a meal in their home. tonight the search continues for the person that fired the shot, sara bloomquist is live in chester with more. >> reporter: that is right police here are trying to identify the shooter, meantime the 5-year-old boy remains at crozier chester hospital this evening with the bullet still lodged beneath his armpit. we spoke with his mother about the moment that the bullets came through her home here in chester. >> my son is strong -- >> latasha hayes spent the day with her son, 5-year-old mark andrews jr.

identified but was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. the murder trial of a man charged with killing a co-worker at a meat processing plant. peter ancome is accusedle killing him. they say the motive as revenge for a prank. they will not seek the death penalty. fire investigators are trying to pinpoint the cause of a fast moving blaze that damaged three homes in frankford. it happened on the 1600 block. the initial fire started in one row home and spread to the neighboring structures, luckily all the residents got out safely. a firefighter was injured while tackling a three alarmer at a family dollar store in fu

fullcroft. more than a dozen firefighters responded, it was so bad they could not find the location of the fire. it took three hours to get a handle on it. philadelphia police are looking for three men captured on this surveillance video stealing items from a point breeze construction site. it happened may 29th here in the 2200 block of east norris street. the suspects grabbed planks and tools and plumbing tools and a water heater. they estimate the haul was worth more than $18,000. a judge decided that former champion swimmer, brock turner would only spend 6 months in jail for a drunken assault during a frat party. he and his father are getting a lot of attention but for

different reasons. stephanie ramos is live with more. >> reporter: rick, well the sentence for stanford student brock turner is angering more and more people and his dad is adding insult to injury. >> brock turner found guilty of sexual assault, his father is now composing a bold and defensive letter in his defense. >> you talked about how this had serious implications for his son because he could not eat his favorite food. >> he wrote that the guilty verdict and many consequences is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action. >> he read that out loud in court 15 feet from the young woman. >> the judge sentenced the champion swimmer to 6 months in jail. the district attorney asked for a more severe 6 year prison

term. but he ruled that the prison term would have a severe impact on brock. and now there is a petition to remove him from the bench. >> he ignored a jury and in my mind ignored her. >> clicking on the letter she wrote. she read her emotional statement at sentencing directing it at the man that assaulted her. hours after the assault, i wanted to take off my body like a jacket and leave it at the hospital with everything else. >> brock turner withdrew from stanford university and must register as a sex offender for life. she feels she is speaking for every woman but is staying anonymous for now. more than a week after an endangered gorilla was killed at the cincinnati zoo, the world exhibit opened to the public today. there is a memorial for harambe
