with it come humidity that could trigger powerful storms later today. meteorologist chris sowers is with us and we're talking about later in the day. >> reporter: another storm dropped a tree on my front lawn. cut down the trees. >> reporter: i won't have any more left. let's get you outside, unfortunately this is going to be a situation where we see wind in the line of thunderstorm. it's going to be a quick-hitting line maybe lasts half-hour or 40 minutes tops. there could be wind at 60 to 70 miles per hour. another potent system is swinging through. as we look live down in cape may. we've enjoyed fall-like temperatures this week, very low humidity levels, highs in the 70s. today that changes. the numbers crank into the upper 80s and low 90s. it will feel comfortable early on and awful during the late afternoon hours. satellite and radar there is the

street before stopping in bushes. new this morning, a driver faces charges of dui and leaving the scene of the accident after a hit-and-run in center city overnight. police say the 48-year-old victim was hit on the 2200 block of south broad street at 2:30 a.m. the victim had just stepped from behind a wawa delivery truck when it happened. the driver took off, but was arrested a short time later. the victim is in serious condition at jefferson hospital. 6:04. if you're just waking up with us, the community has a difficult task of complaining the murder of two young children to their own children. according to police the victims were killed by their mother. last night people who knew them gathered at a vigil. dann cuellar was there. now i lay me down to sleep, i pray the lord my soul to keep. >> reporter: amidst the candle and balloons, parents pray pray

for the two. devastating to know that a parent can do that to their child children, both of them. they were sweet innocent children. 40-year-old sophie hines is accused of suffocating her children, 3-year-old aerial and saint leo. she confessed to suffocating the children with a bed sheet. the for chase center was where the children were cared for before it was determined that they could be placed back in the custody of their mother. for parents there difficult part was trying to explain the tragedy to their kids. my son has questions, he wants to know what happened, i don't know what to say. it's tragic.

storms could be strong to severe. it's going to be hotter and more humid than what we've been experiencing. 90 degrees is the forecasted high. with the humidity, the feels like temperature, the heat index could climb as high as 95, 96. 60 degrees is where we started out this morning. 55 in millville. look at trenton, 52 degrees, allentown, 51. reading, 54. wilmington, 60. dover, 63. the warm front is right here, just off the screen. once that pulls through, it should do so in the next couple of hours. that's when you start to notice the change in the humidity levels. the humidity goes through the roof this afternoon. satellite and radar, when the humidity increases, the atmosphere becomes more unstable. you swing a frontal system through that all of a sudden you get showers and thunderstorms. that's the process that will take place this afternoon. this is the system that will be pushing through the unstable air mass. huge explosion of showers and thunderstorms across the great lake states last night.

any time at our website 6abc.com/weather. and this morning we're following that breaking news, a rise are star from south jersey has been shot and killed in an attack that followed her concert in orlando, florida. here's what we know, 22-year-old christina grimmie a marlton native and cherokee hoifl -- high school graduate, she became a singing sensation on the voice. this is a shot of her in orlando, there was a merchandise sale and meet and greet after the show where she signed autographs for fans, a gunman walked in the venue with two guns. we know that the suspect walked up and shot christina. at that point we know that her brother tackled the suspect and that's when the suspect shot himself. >> reporter: that suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot

that happened during the struggle with christina's brother who is called a hero for his actions. he likely saved more people from being shot. investigators are working to figure out why the person targeted the singer. rip christina was the #on social media. an eagles player was under investigation wide receiver, nelson agholor is accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside a popular strip club. jeff chirico has the details. we're not confirming any particular player. >> reporter: philadelphia police are not naming names, but the eagles front office is confirming nelson agholor is the focus of a criminal investigation into allegations of sexual assault. the incident is said to have happened at the cheerleaders gentlemen's club thursday afternoon. 27-year-old female dancer

at the establishment alleges she was sexually assaulted. nelson agholor hired an attorney who said his client is 1,000 percent innocent of any criminal conduct and doesn't expect criminal charges to be filed. it's very early on, quite some way to go, before you can get to the part of talking about charges. >> reporter: nelson agholor reportedly visited the club after off-season mini camp ended nearby. the eagles said we are aware of the investigation involving nelson agholor. the organization has been in contact with nelson and the property authorities in philadelphia. nelson agholor who is on summer break until training camp in late july won't be doing much relaxing as the special victims unit investigates the allegations gains him. the first -- against him. the first step is to get the victim's story.
