and we do say good wednesday morning. it's been a rough week for people in orlando. for the third time in less than a week the area hit by tragedy. >> this time the scene is in the grand floridian resort and spa where a 2-year-old was dragged into a lagoon by an alligator. they were on vacation visiting from their home in nebraska when they decided to attend movie night on the shore of that resort. tragedy overnight at disney world. a 2-year-old boy snatched by an alligator and dragged underwater at the upscale grand floridian resort and spa. >> the family was out relaxing. the father was there nearby and the child was playing in the water, just a foot or so into the water and the alligator came up and attacked.

>> he saw this happen? >> yes. >> reporter: a team of 50 officers are searching into the morning hours for the toddler who was on vacation with his family from nebraska. >> we're not leaving until we recover the child. >> reporter: authorities say the boy's parents jumped into the lake and tried to wrestle him away from the gator. >> the father entered the water and tried to grab the child, was not successful in doing so, at some point i'm told that the mother also may have entered the water so the parents diligently tried to get the child. >> reporter: witnesses say they saw an alligator in the water before the attack and describe it as being between four and seven feet long. authorities say there have been no other recent reports of similar alligator attacks at the lake. there are also no signs warning people of gators in the area but signs posting against swimming in that lake. now to the investigation in the orlando massacre at the nightclub there. the fbi is now asking questions

of the gunman's family on both coasts. >> yeah, that's because in video obtained exclusively by dailymail.com we see agents leaving the california home of the gunman's in-laws. it is believed the shooter's mother-in-law and one of her daughters lives at this home and the attacker's wife is coming under scrutiny. >> lana zak is in orlando where survivors have been telling their stories, as well. lana, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, diane and kendis. yes, from these survivors many still in the hospital we are learning grim new details including how the shooter may have been laughing as he killed. >> i guess he must have thought i died with my eyes open and i just kind of kept staring at him. >> reporter: 20-year-old tiara parker stared at the gunman while her cousin lay dying. the two girls were on their way out when the first shots were irfooed. >> people are getting hit by bullets like blood is everywhere. >> reporter: they tried to hide in the bathroom as police s.w.a.t. teams swarmed in. >> the shooter came into the

stall. they killed him. i watched him die. >> reporter: the s.w.a.t. team pulled them out but kyra didn't make it. >> my cousin had the brightest future in front of her. >> reporter: so many survivors of the orlando massacre watched friends die that night. investigators are now focusing on the shooter's wife, noor salman trying to determine if she had information that could have prevented the tragedy. law enforcement sources say that salman allegedly went with her husband to buy ammunition prior to the attack. abc news has also learned that salman allegedly suggested to the fbi she tried to talk her husband out of harming anyone. if true, she could face criminal charges. investigators are also pouring over the shooter's phone looking for connections to the gay community. a decade ago the shooter met this man who didn't want his face shown. >> he asked if i was gay and because i wasn't out at the time, i told him no, i'm not and he said if you were gay you

would definitely be my type of guy. >> reporter: we're also learning that the shooter's wife may have actually accompanied him here to the nightclub previously. investigators are trying to determine if that was as a patron or to scope the site. kendis, diane >> that's lana zak live in orlando for us. lana, thank you. now to politics and donald trump is firing back after getting slammed with a one-two punch from president obama as well as hillary clinton. they hammered trump as he responded to the orlando shooting by once again calling for a ban on muslims entering this country. this morning a joint attack aimed at donald trump. >> are we going to start treating all muslim-americans differently. >> trump's words will be, in fact, they already are a recruiting tool for isis. >> reporter: hillary clinton and president obama saying trump is out to destroy american values. >> that's not the america we want. it doesn't reflect our democratic ideals.

it won't make us more safe. it will make us less safe. >> reporter: in his most forceful comments yet of the campaign season the president blasting trump's call for a ban on muslim immigration. >> this is a country found often basic freedoms including freedom of religion. we don't have religious tests here. >> reporter: trump has said the president and clinton must call the orlando shooting radical islamic terrorism or else resign. >> there's no magic to the phrase radical islam. it's a political talking point. it's not a strategy. >> in the end it didn't matter what we called bin laden, it mattered that we got bin laden. >> last night at a campaign rally in north carolina, trump firing back. >> we want to live in a country where gay and lesbian americans and all americans are safe from radical islam. >> and once again both president obama and clinton called for action on gun control.

>> enough talking about being tough on terrorism. actually be tough on terrorism and stop making it easy as possible for terrorists to buy assault weapons. >> and this latest exchange escalating as one new poll shows hillary clinton with a 12-point lead over donald trump in a general election matchup leading him 49% to 37% and we should note some of this polling was conducted after the labrorlando attack. hillary clinton and bernie sanders met face-to-face as clinton wrapped up primary season, rather, with a victory in washington, d.c. the 90-minute private meeting blocks from the white house was expected to focus on unifying the party and stopping donald trump, but sanders still has not endorsed clinton. he says he's looking to advance his progressive agenda and transform the democratic party. >> well, now to severe weather that's on the move. flash floods swamped parts of southern minnesota yesterday. some places got up to 6 inches of rain in just a few hours and

attack in france. in it the attacker confesses to killing a police officer and his female companion then lists other prominent people he planned to target. it was recorded in the dead couple's home. the suspect who was killed by police had served time in prison for recruiting for isis. a major deal could soon be announced between iran and boeing. tehran says it has finalized an agreement to buy more than 100 new planes with a price tag of about $25 billion. if the deal goes through it would be the largest commercial agreement with a u.s. company since the sanctions were lifted. and facebook's new ads will track which stores you visit. those new ads can include an interactive map showing the store location and facebook will then use your phone's location services to see if you visit the store after you saw that ad. google also tracks in-store visits. first lady michelle obama sat down with oprah winfrey for a first of its kind summit called the unites state of women.

sending terrified shoppers running for cover. then he went into a back office where he held two hostages until the s.w.a.t. team came in. now, police say the man was angry after being passed over for a promotion there. this is newly released surveillance video showing the heroic efforts of this student, john mace and successfully disarmed a gunman who killed one opportunity and wounded two others in june of 2014. now, the student pepper sprayed the shooter and then took the gun away from the scene. now, mace returns and holds the man until help arrived. now to an important update for anyone heading to the olympics or worried about the zika virus. the world health organization says there is a very low risk of further international spread of the virus as a result of those games in brazil. the w.h.o. reaffirmed its previous advice that no restrictions should be placed on travel to countries with the virus including brazil. 51 days ahead and getting
