chaka fattah's corruption trial. and police identify the woman found yesterday in fairmount park. but the big story on "action news" is developing this hour. a frantic search continues for a 2-year-old boy snatched by an alligator at a disney resort. there is no sign of the toddler after being drag nood a lagoon last night. we are joined live now in orlando. >> reporter: hi sara, so many mothers myself included have allowed their children to play near the beaches at disney without any idea there are alligators. >> more than 150 officials are combing the waterways at disney. they are hopeful that the toddler would be found alive. >> we are hopeful and hoping for the best. but with each passing our it becomes grim. four gators were pulled from the water and those animals will be

euthanized. the alaskan family was on the shores for movie night and the 2-year-old was playing in a few inches of water when the gator snatched him up. the father tried to save him but failed. >> there is no way you'll open the jaws of that gator. >> children like this one visiting in march regularly play on the shores. this mother says she will never do that again. disney is deploying all of their resources in the search. >> we are helping the family and doing everything we can to assist law enforcement. >> and disney has just now closed all of their beaches here. we have also learn that much of the land is set aside as a nature preserve and in the past that hampers their ability to do anything about the gators in the water. channel 6 "action news" back to you. >> thank you. we want to take a live look from orlando florida where a news

conference is about to begin where they will begin the update for the search for the 2-year-old child, we are monitoring, and if you would like to watch it it will be streaming at 6abc.com. we'll continue to follow the developments throughout the day on this story. disney is the parent company of 6 abc. >> in other news authorities are piecing together the orlando gunman's final hours before he attacked a gay nightclub. today orlando's mayor confirm that omar mateen drove around the city and visited several locations the night before the shooting, investigators are focusing on mateen's wife and how much she knew about the plot and analyzing mateen's cell phone for more information. a local tribute to the orlando tragedy will light up the sky over the delaware river, the ben franklin bridge will be illuminated in rainbow colors in memory of the victims.

the bridge will light up every evening through sunday. >> from our delaware newsroom, a young girl and three young boys are recovering from gunshot wounds. they were shot last night in wilmington, delaware. annie mccormick smoke with the 13-year-old victim just released from the hospital. >> reporter: it unfold sd late last night and a police officer heard the shots and the officers found the victims scattered around the neighborhood. and at this hour police say what sparked the shooting and who is responsible is part of an ongoing investigation. >> medics rushed victims of last night's shooting after young people were hit by gun fire. essex is out of the hospital a bullet lodged in her thigh. >> we were running and i looked back and he was on the ground. >> essex and her friends were innocent victims, they were playing a game of tag in front of this shattered door at south

van buren. when a gunman peppered fire and some bullets found both kids and essex hit in the thigh and christian shot in the right thigh and feet. >> i was trying to get home, i was going to go back and get chris but he said go on. >> i saw blood and he was in shock and trembling. >> christian's grandmother knew he was outside and ran when she heard shots. the gun fire started at 9:00 p.m. and found a 16-year-old male shot in the legs and arm and was transported in stable condition. more 911 calls brought police up the block to south harrison and they found a 15-year-old with gunshots to his hands and leg. and he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. at this hour there is no word on a shooter but police say this is on ongoing investigation. on monday there was another shooting around the same

neighborhood where a 24-year-old was wounded. young christian remains in the hospital with the bullet lodged in the side. it's unclear whether or not doctors will remove the bullet today or remain in the hospital for several more days. back to you. >> thank you. the woman found murdered in fairmount park is side if ied. 26-year-old toy bryant from chester was stabbed and shot and handcuffed. a young couple on the way to work spotted her body yesterday near the mann music center. detectives believe she was killed at a different location. they have not said where or why. jury deliberations are set to begin today in the philadelphia corruption trial of congressman chaka fattah. he is charged with paying back a grant loan with federal money. prosecutors argue he ran a white

collar crime spree that stretched from philadelphia to the nation's capital. >> but his attorneys said that the money spent was not part of a bribery scheme. we start with sunshine and more clouds are moving on in. we are looking at the jersey shore here in cape may. we see more rain coming late tonight and david murphy is joining us with the latest from the "action news" big board. >> down to the south and west of philadelphia we are looking at showers, they are creeping down through areas of north of baltimore and areas north of dover, delaware just clipping the southern edge of newcastle county and lewes and rehoboth and cape may county. this will train over these areas this afternoon. it's light rain for you, but this could slide farther east, if are you in cumberland county or cape may county, and you don't see rain, you may see it later on this afternoon. but that say slow creeper coming

in from the west. cloud cover is getting thicker, and you can see in an on satellite. we saw high, thin stuff this morning and now a little bit thicker coming up from the southwest than will be the pattern where you get cloudier and cloudier as the day goes on. 78 warm degrees right now in philadelphia. 80 in allentown and 75 in millville. dew points not all that bad in most of the region, only 52 in philadelphia. but all the way up to 69 in dover where the rain is falling. it's humid to the south and west. 76 is not the day's high and it's going to be close to that average high but again the big issue for areas south and west are the passing showers. we have another round of rain coming guys for tomorrow morning, it could be in the wee hours of the morning and perhaps extends into the morning rush hour and could be rumbles of

we want to update you on that developing story out of florida that we mentioned out of florida, authorities have given up hope in finding the 2-year-old boy alive. as we mentioned he was snatched by a gator while near a lagoon at the disney report. he was on vacation with his family from nebraska. dive teams are looking for the child's body but have given up hope of finding him alive. we'll update the story on air and online at 6abc.com. the midwest is preparing for another outbreak today for potentially severe storms. several tornadoes touched down yesterday in south dakota, minnesota and iowa. this is video of one of the south dakota tornadoes. no one was seriously injured. former track star, oscar pistorius, is about to learn his

new sentence for the death of his girlfriend. he broke down in tears as he broke down his prosthetic legs and went through the courtroom. pistorius claims he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder when he shot and killed her in 2013. he is being resentenced after the court overturned a lesser conviction of manslaughter. democratic parties say that russian hackers gave access to emails sent over the system. they were able to access research on republican nominee, donald trump, the dnc says they secured the network with new software. donald trump appears to be breaking with it's nra and many republicans on no fly no buy legislation.

he will be talking to the group about not allowing people on the terrorist watch list or no fly list to buy guns, the nra has blocked efforts to deny guns to people on those lists. saying it encroaches on third amendment rights. hillary clinton will be talking about homeland security today. after a meeting with bernie sanders to talk about unifying the party and stopping donald trump. her campaign says the 90 minute meeting resulted in a positive discussion. a north jersey man is credited with saving a woman's life after her suv plunged into the passaic river. jay moss was driving over the river and spotted the suv in the water in nuttley. the driver was unconscious, without hesitation moss ran into the water to help. >> i couldn't get it open at first. i popped my leg up and popped it

plans for atlantic city's revel casino. the property did not open today as originally planned. 900 hotel rooms were suppose to be available. but they do not have all of theirts and inspections. whole foods has received a warning over serious violations found by the fda at a massachusetts plant. the facility prepares ready to eat products for stores throughout the whole northeast. and they found some foods were found being prepared in areas where condensation was dripping. whole foods say they have corrected the problem. health check this noon, a new weight loss device is hitting the market and requires some work to use. they have approved the aspire assist. a tube implanted into the stomach, 30 minutes after

meteorologist, david murphy is here with the forecast and a little bit of precip in our region. >> reporter: stormtracker 6 live double scan shows you there is some rain. look at that. the green stuff as sara likes to say. south and west of philadelphia. and if we go a little bit closer it's light to moderate rain. you are in and out of this stuff in rehoboth and milford and dover and some is stretching into cape may county and dumb ber land county. this is likely to maintain the track in here through a good portion of the afternoon and it may slide to the east and if are you in places like sea isle city, where you are not seeing rain you may catch that later on. it's not raining anywhere else,

and most of this stays south and west of the philadelphia today. as we look outside we have a little bit ago. some sunshine still digging through the clouds on chopper 6 hd and those clouds starting to get thicker out there especially to the south and wst. and they will have a tendency to thicken up as the day goes on. 81 in philadelphia, winds are light out of the west-southwest at 9 miles per hour. not a lot of wind in play today. 78 in philadelphia and 73 in wilmington. the cooler under the thicker clouds and where the rain is falling, 80 in allentown where you don't have as much cloud cover and warm 79 in trenton and the shore low to mid-70s. cloud cover getting thicker as the day goes on. showers south and west of philadelphia and can't rule out some of that coming to the city but it's not likely.

probably not a lot of rain up in the lehigh valley. cool drinks weather, and at the shore 76 is your high, a little bit warmer than the last couple of days and the clouds are increasing and the farther down the coast the better chance of catching showers, ocean temperature 65 and better today. 82 is the high in philadelphia increasing clouds and warm and can't rule out a sprinkle or brief shower in the city and most of it again south of the city. for tonight the phillies mostly cloudy and 70 in the ninth inning and toronto starting the half home and home series. the union of course starting the u.s. cup tournament tonight. as they take on harrisburg, 77 for the start and 71 for the finish, overnight tonight 64 degrees and mostly cloudy and overnight into tomorrow morning you'll start to see rain development and even a rumble of

thunder while you are sleeping, you see at 11:30 we see that gather to the north and west. in the overnight hours, 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. a shower or thunderstorm possible and by tomorrow morning's rush hour, 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 we are on the air tracking the stuff we may see more of those showers and thunderstorms come through and after that a light sprinkle and late in the day we may see a return of sun. today's high a warm 82 and clouds increasing and a spotty shower can't be ruled out and more than that out south and west. and perhaps a rumble of thunder and drying in the afternoon tomorrow and friday a shower possible in the morning and drying in the afternoon with a high of 82. the weekend just continues to look better and better, beautiful 83 degrees on saturday and low humidity. and it looks like sunday is another beautiful day. the coastal storm not bothering us nut picture.
