this adorable 2-year-old is at the center after tragedy that has broken hearts across the country. he was the little boy who turned the seven seas lagoon at disney world into a watery grave. 16 hours after snatched by an alligator his body was found today. it is wednesday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the discovery of lane graves' body. the officials say he drown, his body was intact. and monica malpass with the full story. >> the tiny body recovered from the lagoon where he was attacked. and officials had to deliver the grim news to his devastated parents. it was the outcome that everyone feared and no one wanted. 2-year-old lane graves' body recovered not far from where he was attacked last night. the sheriff had the horrible task of telling the distraught parents. >> i delivered the message, along with a priest, a catholic priest. and, of course, the family was

distraught. >> less than 24 hours ago the graves family, including five children, were on the beach after movie night. they were walking in less than a foot of water when a 4- to 7-foot alligator grabbed little lane. and the father dashed into the water and wrestled the alligator but could not listen the grip. and the alligator swam away with the child and the father called 911. >> it is nighttime and that's when they love to hunt. they hear slashing in the water and a small object and easy targets. >> 50 rescuers and helicopters and dive teams immediately began the search, continuing to look through the night pulling five alligators today from the lagoon and killing them. they are comparing the teeth now to the bite wounds to make sure they got the right one. this is the first alligator death in the park's history. the odds of the attack are 1 in 2.5 million experts say and disney immediately offered

have not didn't disclosed. and we are learning that omar mateen applied to the police academy at river state college at one point and was denied, and he claims that was because of his muslim faith. and in west philadelphia, family and friends paid tribute to a local victim. christie? >> jim, there wasn't a dry an eye as people left the vigil. her peers, even alum who didn't know akyra shows up and it was very telling of how many lives she had touched. among the teary-eyed students and staff leaving west catholic prep were akyra murray's sobbing aunt, cousin and grandfather. >> and how does it make you feel that she showed up for your akyra. >> no doubt she put a mark on a lot of people's life. >> the 18-year-old just graduated from the school last week, all for loved ones to be

back tonight mourning her murder. at pulse nightclub with her cousin and friend during a family vacation, and now akyra the youngest victim of sunday's mass shooting. and saying that couldn't describe the pain. in a video of the private vigil posted on the school's facebook page, akyra's coach fought back tears as her peers remembered the honor student who graduated third in her class and was heading to mercyhurst college on a basketball scholarship. >> still in shock of all of this. >> she was a gifted young lady. refined, bright. >> she just started living. i mean she was getting ready to take off and just in the blink of an eye her wings were just clipped. >> so much promise only for her destinies to go unfulfilled. >> loving, caring. >> blessed to have been a part

fortunately, nobody was injured. there is no word yet on a cause. an explosion at the veolia energy plant in south philadelphia this afternoon rattled homes and rattled some nerves. the blast blew out some windows. the boom was heard blocks away. neighbors near 26th and christian were told to stay in their homes for a brief period of time while first responders investigated the facility. it turns out that a boiler erupted. and the plant officials say the system worked exactly as it intended, but for neighbors it was cause for alarm. >> i heard the big boom and the ground shook. >> an explosion and the whole house shook. it sounded like the roof was coming in, it was scary. and we all ran outside. >> there was no fire. the plant continued to operate and one person was slightly hurt by flying glass. an "action news" viewer captured a different kind of explosion in coatesville this
