the president arrived in orlando with vice president joe biden and florida center marco rubio, they met with survivors and families of the dead and police responders and doctors. the meeting was private but later we saw president obama and vice president biden deliver white roses, a total of 49 roses. obama took the opportunity to once again call on congress to approve gun control measures. he says the people he spoke to don't care about the politics of it all they just want to keep weaponed out of the hands of people bent on war. >> if we don't act we'll keep seeing more massacres like this. because we'll be choosing to allow them to have it. we'll have said we don't care

enough to do something about it. >> on capitol hill the 15 hour filibuster demanded congress allow a vote on two gun control measures, but senate leader, mitch mcconnell said it was a campaign talkathon, but there is word on tuesday there will be a vote on a republican bill that would delay a gun sale to a suspected terrorist for hours. philadelphia city council today approved a new beverage tax that raises $90 million next year. personal and campaign debts. in morrisville, bucks county, a car break-in turned into a chase with a victim an ledged thief and then gun fire. nora muchanic is live at bridge street where bullets brought the episode to a close. nora what exactly happened? >> jim it was a wild scene here. one neighbor describes hearing the gunshots and his wife dove for cover to protect their 10-month-old son and another neighbor describes the car crash that brought this chase to a halt. >> it rocked the whole building. >> joe was rocked out of bed when the car chase ended with the car crashing into the building where he lives in morrisville. it started at the woodland manor apartment complex. the man grabbed a han gunned and

gave chase. the suspect lost control of his car turning from pennsylvania avenue on to bridge street. hitting a garbage can and into a beauty salon. >> the chaser fired twice and hit him once in the arm. >> it shattered his elbow. >> you saw him plow in here. surveillance cameras athe jags barbershop caught it on tape. >> it was a forceful crash and then to see them jumping out of the car is shaking. >> this woman's beauty salon took a brunt of the crash, this is something that doesn't normally happen here at all. it's quiet and peaceful, i'm very, very surprised. >> while detectives processed the scene the gun used at the scene laid on the hood of the car. and they were surprised that it escalated to a crash and gun fire.

to keep those cats. big news today for a big chunk of philadelphia real estate. a full 40 acres that could look different in the years to come and the work could spark tens of thousands of new jobs. gray hall has the story. >> reporter: big changes are on the way to the area surrounding the 30th street station. amtrak, septa and brandywine trust and drexel university announced plans for a massive $6.5 million transformation. >> transforming this station to the needs of the future. >> leaders are planning the construction and they have a lot to work with. 40 acres of open space are all part of this gigantic facelift it includes houses of 8,000 to 10,000 new residents. transportation complex and new bus terminals and an updated

plaza that stretches to the other side of the station, it creates a transportation hub and an economic boost to the area with the potential to generate 3 parking lot anywhere from 1,000 to 15,000 employees. 8,000 to 10,000 residents, creating 22,000 construction jobs through the term of it. the enormous undertaking create a concourse from the 30th street station and possibly relocating the on and off ramps to 30th street. and that could create a transportation center ain thriving place to live and work. >> how that comes to fruition is a process that will unfold overtime. we know it's feesable. >> we don't know when it will start on this massive project but everything should be

complete by year 2050. gray hall, channel 6 "action news." and we have got a first glimpse today at the museum of the american revolution. the building on third street and chestnut in old city is still under construction, the officials announced today that the museum will open on april 19th, 2017. that will be 242 years to the day since the first shot was fired in the revolutionary war. the museum explores the revolution with a distinguished collection of artifacts and manuscripts. and chairman donated another $50 million to the project today. a delaware county hero is taking the next step if law enforcement. and the wet morning gave way to a cloudy evening and i am tracking brighter days ahead as

what grim day. when does this move out? >> tomorrow. >> tomorrow? >> it's improving now. it's not raining it's getting better already. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing we got rid of the rain we had this morning and still a lot of clouds upstairs and on the cool side. philadelphia currently 69 degrees and down from the high of 70. that is 13 degrees below normal. allentown saw more sunshine and 71 degrees and ocean temperature 65 and 66 on the beach and wilmington 68 degrees. with this cool air in place, we have missing an outbreak of severe weather that really isn't that far away from us. double scan live radar showing we have a massive squall line moving through west virginia now and low pressure near cleveland is pushing this along and we see super cells developing ahead of

it. one confirmed tornado in martinsville, west virginia, i post aid photo on my facebook page. another rotation now in the red, this is a low level lock, the rotation is not just high in the atmosphere but at the surface. so tornado warnings there. we'll miss out on the severe weather although we could get severe thunderstorms in southern delaware and extreme southern new jersey overnight. the next 12 hours, mostly cloudy skies and isolate the shower is possible. 58 is the low in the suburbs and 64 for center city. the temperatures don't drop down much and heading into the weekend, this is what we want to see a broad area of high pressure, you have the sinking air, and that means loads of sunshine and seasonably warm. temperatures in the 80s and low 80s tomorrow and mid-80s on

it's looking nice, tomorrow mostly sunny skies and afternoon high of 73 degrees, saturday we bump it up to 75 and father's day sunny and weather with a high of 79. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, kind of damp tomorrow in the morning, showers south of philadelphia and sunshine is back in full force in the afternoon. a high of 80 degrees and tomorrow 83 degrees and plenty of sunshine, sunday 85 degrees and loads of sunshine and looking great for the gary papa run. 7:00, 64 and 10:00, 63. and heading into next week summer begins on monday evening and it comes in on the warm side with a high of 88 degrees, the temperatures spike up to 92 degrees on tuesday, noticeably more humid with thunderstorms and a cold front. behind that front temperatures drop down to the mid to low 80s on wednesday and thursday looking good and father's day weekend i would call it a 10 and a scale of 1 to 10.
