respects and it was here in this church that members first got to hear the beautiful voice and talent that grimmie possessed. now hundreds have lined up to pay their respects to the family, some arriving hours before the doors opened. township officials say they expect thousands to come tonight for both the viewing service and the memorial service that begins at 8 o'clock tonight. now, as you know grimmie was shot last weekend after a concert in orlando by what police believe is an obsessed fan grimmie's brother tackled the gun plan who shot himself. here we've spoken to both fans and old friends of the family who pondered on what the world lost. what has the world lost. >> a dream. dream of an angel really and truly. she was -- she had her whole life ahead of her. >> there's no words. i can't -- peggy was just saying i can't imagine having to bury a child and i'm composed here. i just don't know what i'm going to be like once i get in

there in front of the family. >> i personally can't understand why anyone would do such a thing. she was extremely nice to every single fan, any person that would ever talk to her she would be nice. >> reporter: and back out here live we learned today that grimmie was buried in a private ceremony yesterday. tonight we expect mourners to come and pay their respects to the family for about five hours and that will be followed by a memorial service starting at 8:00 p.m. now, the mayor of evesham township republican brown just spoke a few moments ago and he says he has not stopped crying since he got the news. he calls this a tremendous loss for the township who has lost a shining star. we're live in medford, jeff chirico, channel6 "action news." >> jeff thank you. breaking news out of bucks county right now. the details of a case that can only be described as complex and disturbing emerging right now. here's what we know. a 51-year-old feasterville

manley kaplan is now in custody charged with statutory sexual assault indecent assault corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor after he was found in that home right there on the 400 block of old state road yesterday with about 11 female children inside the home. the children ranging in age from six months to 18 years old, kaplan in custody right now along with a man and woman from lancaster county believed to be the parents of several of those children. the relationship between kaplan and that couple not known right now but all three of them are being held at bucks county jail. again, the details of this disturbing case emerging as we speak. "action news" reporter dann cuellar en route to the scene. he'll give us the details as we learn them. six of the people shot inside an orlando nightclub last weekend are still in critical condition today. and more of the 49 killed are being laid to rest as we speak. all of this comes as the

city's mayor is setting up a fund to distribute more than $7 million in donation directly to the grieving families. a designated assistant center is providing other helpful resources. >> over 200 free airline tickets have been provided to grieving families to reunite them with their loved ones. so far 85 compensation claims have been filed for victims to receive help from medical or funeral expenses. >> abc news has learned that omar mateen textd his wife noor during the rampage early sunday morning but it remains unclear if she was aware of her husband's actions at the time. she and mateen's father have been added to the no-fly list as the fbi investigates. today marks the somber anniversary of another mass shooting in charleston south carolina. exactly one year ago a gunman killed nine people during a bible study at the emmanuel

ame church. there was a community wide memorial service. the government is seeking the death penalty against dylann roof who faces hate crimes and other charges. >> meanwhile today pennsylvania senator bob casey met with 30ame ministers from across our region to renew his call for action on gun control. casey once pro gun politician is taking a completely different stance he believes the u.s. needs to keep guns out of the hands of anyone looking to commit crimes like the one in charleston and the one this week in orlando and sandy hook. >> when you leave hate unchecked, it usually gets a lot worse. and we've got to make sure that we're dealing with this issue at a much lower level.

>> meanwhile on monday lawmakers in washington on both sides of the political aisle will take up the you shall issue of gun control. repleaders scheduled votes on four gun bills but not the one put forth by pennsylvania senator pat toomey. toomey says whether it's his bill or someone else's he's ready to support something that achieves what he feels are the most important goals. >> to prevent terrorists from being able to buy guns, someone who we don't deem to be fit to get on an airplane should not be able to walk into a gun store and leave with an ar-15. at the same time, it's essential that anyone who is put on a list wrongly have an opportunity to clear their name so that they are not deprived of their second amendment rights or constitutional rights of -- nor good reason. >> incidentally none of those four bills is expected to pass on monday. but toomey says there's still a lot of work to be done and certainly a big conversation both in washington and on the campaign trail.

monica. >> the suspect who tried to steal from a bucks county man was officially charged way crime today but so was his intended victim. police say joshua dennis was trying to break into a car parked outside the woodland manor apartments in morrisville yesterday. the owner sean jones no'sd him and confronted him. jones got in his car and chased him. dennis crashed a mile away. jones pulled a gun and shot him in the arm. today dennis was charged with the attempted robbery but jones was also charged with aggravated assault and other offenses. police are urging folks not to chase down suspects in these kinds of situations. police are questioning the driver they say hit a pair of teens in the spring garden section of philadelphia and kept going. they think this may be a case of dui. "action news" reporter trish hartman live at the scene on broad street with more now. trish. >> reporter: monica, one of those teens is still in critical condition this afternoon, a suspect is in custody. we're still waiting to learn

his name from police to release his name and any possible charges after he was found not far from the crime scene. >> the bike was mangled. you know, like i said, the tire was -- seemed like a hundred yards or so from the bike. >> reporter: eric ore works near the scene of this crash in the spring garden section. he arrived at work while police were still investigating the hit and run that hurt two teens on a bike. >> it's scary. i mean, i dread summertime because of it. those bikes, motorcycles, people not paying attention. >> reporter: it was around 2:00 a.m. when police say a group of teens were riding their bikes in the 600 block of north broad street. they were riding southbound in the northbound lanes when two of the boys riding on the same bike were struck by a red lexus. witnesses say the car was speeding and fled after the crash. the boys, both 16 years old were taken to hahnemann for treatment. one suffered a broken leg but the other suffered severe head trauma. >> the impact was so severe it

caused the front tire of the bicycle to be torn from the bicycle and that front tire landed about 50 feet north. >> reporter: just minutes after the crash, the driver and the sports car were found around the corner near ridge and wallace. the car had significant front end today. police say the 34-year-old driver seemed to be intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. >> witnesses were transported to the car and they positively identified the car as the striking vehicle and they also identified the driver. >> reporter: now, 25-year-old passenger was taken in to be interviewed. the driver was taken for a breathalyzer test. police say they plan to release the name of the driver once he's been officially charged. we're live in spring garden, trish harder man channel6 "action news." brian. >> trish thanks very much. deliberations in the climb of chaka fattah had to start over today after a judge had to replace a member of the jury. fattah is charged with racketeering bribery and money laundering. the case against the pennsylvania congressman went to the jury on wednesday. but this morning a judge dismissed a member of that jury and with an alternate

coming on that means deliberations had to go back to the beginning. the court did not release the reason why the juror was dismissed. fattah lost his bid for reelection in the april primary. >> time for a check of the accuweather forecast. of course we have a father's day sunday coming up and the weekend for everybody. >> already off to a good start. meteorologist melissa magee in for adam joseph today live outside and that's the place to be melissa. >> that's right brian and monica, really comfortable conditions across much of the delaware and lehigh valleys and low humidity as well. we'll check out the numbers and we'll expand the view across the midatlantic region. it's 80 in philadelphia, 80 in washington, d.c. but you look off to the south in virginia temperatures there are only in the 70's. in fact, 71 in richmond, virginia. here's the reason why. satellite6 along with action radar showing you had a couple showers earlier today across south jersey and delaware. now all that of moisture is pushing southward into the virginias at this hour and because of that temperatures are a touch cooler but back here at home if you're out and about on the town, we've got you covered.

it's mostly sunny and try, 7:00 p.m. 80 degrees, 75 at 8 o'clock tonight. it's mostly clear, 9 p.m. with a temperature of 71. and the upper 60's on the way at 10:00 and 11 o'clock this evening. we'll talk about what we can expect. we've got a stellar weekend on the way with low humidity and brief heat is on the way next week for the official start of summer. we've got all of the details in the full and exclusive accuweather forecast and a preview of father's day it's on the way guys. >> melissa, thanks very much. it is time for the "action news" traffic report because between shore traffic and people headed down to the firefly in delaware it could be a busy weekend out there. >> all fun stuff but a lot of folks trying to head there. let's go to autumn marisa. >> it is a busy one this afternoon. we'll start on 95. here we are right at do the man. these are our southbound lanes. we have an accident involving actually four vehicles. they're trying to get that out of the way but taking out the left-hand lane and the northbound lanes approaching at cottman we have an accident

taking out the left-hand lane as well so keep that in minds on 95. taking a look at the big picture speeds dropping down into the single digits on the schuylkill expressway. slow from the blue route to the vine street expressway. you can see 8 miles per hour. the blue route had been slow all afternoon from saint davids all the way to 95. you can expect about a 15-mile delay back up there on those roadways. taking a look into new jersey, the admiral wilson boulevard is really at a standstill. you can see here 130 approaching 130, because of that road closure on 38. really a crawl over the ben franklin bridge to this point and through this point as well. staying in new jersey, here we are at the route 42 freeway as you make your way up to the atlantic city expressway. slow going there but really not too bad at this point. as you make your way closer to atlantic city and getting on the garden state parkway that's where you'll see the bigger slowdowns as you make your way towards the shore. with the slowdowns on 95 and the slowdowns on the schuylkill you can expect that the vine street expressway looks like this right now, really slow going there as

>> ♪ >> investigators are have found the flight data recorder from that egyptair flight that crashed into the mediterranean last movement the discovery could reveal what happened to that flight that went down can killing all 66 on board. the data recorder has technical information if the plane's computers. investigators found the second box, the cockpit voice recorder yesterday. that has recordings of what the pilot and crew were saying.

france and the united states are sending investigators to cairo to help pull data out of those recorders. >> well, we told you before about the gun control debate in congress and it's also a very hot topic in the race for the white house. on the republican side last night marked the one year anniversary of donald trump's presidential campaign. at a private fundraiser in san antonio texas the presumptive republican nominee slammed president obama's call for action on guns. >> tough situation. but he's largely to a large extent he's blaming guns and -- and i'm going to save you seconds amendment folks. >> meanwhile recent polls show trump trailing democratic rival hillary clinton by as many as 12 points at the moment. and even though bernie sanders has yet to concede and yet to endorse clinton, he has told reporters that he will join her and democrats to what he calls feverishly defeat trump in the general election.

>> major political task that together we face in the next five months is to make certain that donald trump is defeated and defeated badly. and i personally intend to begin my role in that process in a very short period of time. >> answering the question as to whether sanders is overstaying his welcome in a race that's pretty much a done deal abc news analysts say the party now has to figure out exactly what it needs to do to take the race and focus on party unity. a little more than a month to go before the democratic national convention here in philadelphia. monica. >> meatloaf is expected to make a full recovery after collapsing on stage during a concert in can today. the 68-year-old singer was performing his encore in edmonton last night when he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. meatloaf released a statement saying he was severely dehydrated. he had canceled two other concerts this week because of his health. he suffers from asthma and a

cape may and if you look closely at the picture here we've got a red flag up and there's actually a moderate risk today for rip currents with an east to northeasterly wind and that will extend into portions of the day on saturday. nonetheless a lot of folks out and about enjoying the beach and sand as well. along the coast it is a little cooler with that east to northeasterly wind. 71 in beach haven, 74 degrees in cape may but as you head inland we're down to 80 in philadelphia after earlier today temperatures were about 84 in the city. 83 in lancaster and 80 degrees out to the north and west in reading. here is satellite6 along with action radar. you can see the showers we had across our region early this morning there across areas in south jersey and delaware. all of that moisture pushing southward as high pressure continues to work its way into our region so it's mostly sunny and clear for the rest of tonight. in fact, that's the call from accuweather over the next 12 hours. we've got a moonlit sky and comfortable conditions. we'll drop down to 60 in philadelphia, 55 in reading, 60 down in dover and 53 up in

toms river for overnight lows. we've got your weekend call from accuweather where you're going to be at the shore, the city, the poconos tomorrow. it's 74 bright and sunny comfortable in the city tomorrow. it's gorgeous with a high temperature of 84 and 77 degrees up in the poconos it is bright and delightful. one issue with our forecast come tomorrow is that we do have a bit of an air quality alert an ozone action day. the air is unhealthy for sensitive groups so this includes kids seniors, anyone with heart or respiratory illness. you do wander to monitor your time outdoors come tomorrow. things are definitely heating up out to the southwest. if you look at future tracker6, sunday afternoon check out the numbers across areas in arizona. 115 degrees is the forecast high. 109 the high in tucson, arizona. in facts folks on the west coast could be dealing with all time highs. phoenix arizona your all time high 122 degrees set back in 1990.

>> ♪ >> investigators are still trying to figure out what caused a fire at an apartment building early this morning in chester county. the action cam was on west chestnut street in west chester where the flames broke out around 12:30. they say the fire started on the third floor but they have not said why. firefighters had to use ladders to get everyone out of that building safely. we can tell you no one was hurt here. it's an effort that's raised nearly a million dollars over the last nine years and today they're raising that total even higher. radio host john debella is holding his tenth annual veterans radio on that as we speak. wmgk radio institution has been broadcasting from outside the national constitution center since 6 o'clock this morning taking donations over the phone and in person. >> people are giving five dollars, $10 whatever they can

give to help out veterans who have done so much for us. >> debella has got 10 some high profile help in his efforts today in the form of mayor jim kenney colin powell pennsylvania governor wolf and comedian jim gaffigan. all proceeds benefit local veterans. >> more than 100 high school students took their next step on their journey through life today. mass community charter school. 85 percent are going on to college. they received a total of $6 million in scholarships. philadelphia mayor jim kenney was the speaker at today's ceremony. congratulations. an early father's day celebration for 27 local dads in center city today. councilman kenyatta johnson hosted his first luncheon for fathers here at city hall. the men have singled themselves out either with economic improvements or social contributions. their families are there to applaud them and happy father's day to all of these terrific role models. >> and still ahead here on a

>> ♪ >> we continue at 4:30 with details on the breaking story we first told you about at 4 o'clock today. you're learning more details about the child sexual abuse case at a nome feasterville bucks county. now police say 51-year-old lee kaplan was living with 12 female children in his home on the 400 block of old street road ranging from six months to 18 years old. police say kaplan is the father of the six month old child and a three-year-old at that house. the mother is the 18-year-old girl. now, police say the girl's parents gifted their daughter to kaplan when she was 14 years old because kaplan helped get them out of financial difficulty. >> according to the police affidavit they were aware kaplan was having sex with their young daughter and they did nothing to stop it. kaplan is facing statutory sexual assault aggravated indecent assault and other charges. he's being held on a million dollars bail.

the 18-year-old girl's parents are also in custody. stay with "action news" at 6abc.com for more on this breaking story. >> there are new calls for gun control in new jersey because of that mass shooting in orlando. many gathered to send a message to congress there twenty three want assault style rifles banned. nora muchanic live in our new jersey news room with the details on this effort. nora. >> reporter: hi, brian 33 want assault rifles banned and they also want to close a loophole in the federal law that allows people who are on the terror watch list to buy a gun. the shorthand they're using is no fly no, buy. standing in front of the victims of terrorism memorial in pennsauken gun control advocates are demanding congress take action to close loopholes in federal gun laws. >> the terror watch list, you can't get on the plane but you can go buy a gun. how is that making sense to anybody here. >> the message to congress is that we need to put people ahead of guns.

>> reporter: the group is also calling for the ban of assault rifles like these seized from the streets of camden. >> these are military grade weapons. these things were designed for mass casualty and to be used on the battlefield. >> reporter: chief thompson is holding a weapon similar to the one used to massacre 49 people at the pulse nightclub in orlando. this weapon and other rifles like it can sloot off 30 rounds in a magazine and are available for purchase in many states. that makes no sense to south jersey lgbt activist brian mcginnis. >> the problem is individuals with deep, deep hate and bigotry in their hearts and the fact that they can so easily get access to weapons of war. >> reporter: at the state level new jersey democrats are pushing to override governor christie's veto of a bill that would require domestic violence offenders to surrender their guns much the governor says democrats are trying to exploit the tragedy in florida. >> radicals terrorism is what

thirty eight man into the club, not the gun. his ideology. >> reporter: now, whether trenton and washington do take action to reform gun laws is still unclear. but gun control advocates say something has to be done before there's another massacre. live in our new jersey news room, i'm nora muchanic, channel6 "action news." >> all right. nora, thanks very much. family and friends are gathering right now to remember rising pop star and south jersey native christina grimmie. the visitation is under way at fellowship alliance chapel in medford and will be followed by a memorial service. a live look there now. the 22-year-old singer was shot to death last friday as she signed autographs after a performance in orlando. police believe her killer was an obsessed fan. he took his own life after that shooting. two police officers were injured after a crash in northeast philadelphia today at about 11:30 this morning. a police vehicle was involved in a crash nearly a len grove streegrove -- allengrove street.

you can see a heavy police presence near the pickup truck. details of the crash have not been released yet. we are told that the investigation is still under way. >> from our delaware news room now a milford man is under arrest for sexually abusing children for more than 10 years allegedly. police charge edgar bravo with at least seven counts of rape and sexual abuse. police say it started in 2005. one of the victims was just eight years old. police in abington are investigating several home break-ins that happened overnight. investigators say there were five burglaries or attempted break-ins within 2 miles. earlier this morning two people in the 300 block of thorpe road in the jenkintown section reported somebody tried to break into their home. and a few hours later three people reported burglaries in the 1000 block of huntington road. in all the cases, the suspects were able to get in through unlocked windows. police are now searching for those suspects. >> we officially say hello to summer i think on monday, right. >> yeah, that's right. >> this weekend going to feel

every bit like one of the best weekends of it. >> it will be because it's a big celebration especially come sunday and we'll get into the details with that, guys. we'll show you what's going on outside. it's a nice place to be. sky6 live in ac at penn's landing. we've got a bright blue sky, comfortable conditions, it's 80 in philadelphia at this hour, low humidity with a 56-degree dewpoint and east to northeasterly wind at 10 miles per hour. and down the shore we head next sky6 live in hd in cape may. you can see a temperature of 74 degrees, a dewpoint of 55. it's a bit of an northerly wind at 13 miles per hour. water temperatures aren't too bad from serve city down to cape may, they are in the upper 60's but if you're going to be in the bay this weekend, look at that, just to the south of delaware city, 75. and in fortescue, the water temperature coming in at 72 degrees so certainly not a bad weekend to be out and about. not bad to be out at the coast. certainly not bad to celebrate dad at the coast tomorrow as we get into sunday we've got all of the details. it's going to be a great weekend. that's coming up with the accuweather forecast.

>> all right. >> great timing. >> awesome. melissa thank you. and as just mentioned it will be a great weather weekend for the firefly music festival in dover delaware. the four day festival kicked off yesterday at the woodlands. this year's headliners include mumford and sons kings of leon. firefly runs through sunday. this is the festival's fifth year in dover. >> health officials are calling for new measures to fight the heroin epidemic in pennsylvania. addiction specialists and others gave testimony during this hearing in philadelphia city hall today. they say the city has more than 650 overdose deaths just in the last year. that is twice the homicide rate. and they called for a public health emergency to be declared in pennsylvania. they also want changes to the way doctors prescribe painkillers along with a statewide overdose prevention task force and a syringe exchange program to prevent needle sharing. the hero's welcome organization showed its appreciation for 25 local veterans today.

>> a california plan is being called a hero today after he risked his life to save a stranger. as the car was burning at a shopping center people nearby started recording video on their cell phone. only one man actually stepped up to save the driver. cher rivers department wants to honor him for his efforts. as for the man in the car investigators think he was drunk and may have been referring his engine before that fire broke out.

a wind whipped wildfire continued to burn out of control near the coast of santa barbara california. it's burned more than 4,000 acres. the fire started wednesday and has continued to grow. an estimated 1200 firefighters are battling that blaze right now. they have been able to get it about 5 percent contained. fires are also burning in parts of new mexico and arizona. hundreds of people in all three states have been evacuated as a precaution. >> closing arguments will begin monday in the trial of a baltimore police officer charged in connection with the death of freddie gray. caesar goodson jr. was driving the van when gray suffered a fatal spinal injury last year. goodson faces the most serious charge, second degree murder. prosecutors say he failed to buckle gray into a seat belt. he faces 30 years in prison if convicted. russia's track and field team will most likely not compete in this summer's olympics because of alleged doping. the global governing body for track and field ruled today russia had not done enough to

restore global confidence in the integrity of its athletes. last year the world anti-doping agency issued a scathing report saying russian athletes took performance enhancing drugs. russia has denied that. the international olympic committee will discuss the ban next week. >> ♪ >> big talkers now and when it comes to our kids, you know we wish we could be there 24/7. but when one mom in indianapolis couldn't witness what was happening under her babysitter's watch social media stepped in to be her buys and ears. don't worry mom, facebook has got your back. someone captured this pretty shocking video at a splash park. you can see there at the bottom a seven month old baby getting dumped with gallons of water. the babysitting right underneath that big bucket that tips right over right onto its head and then the woman comes and scoops her up. the woman who captured the video posted it on facebook. she was concerned about the baby and drew thousands of chairs.

the online communities found the baby's mom brittany dixson. the woman in the purple was the babysitter who has been fired. the mom says she's so grateful for the woman who took the time to post the video and of course for the fact that her baby is okay. someone is always watching. now a powerful reunion that is tugging at the heart strings today. one of the survivors of the orlando massacre getting a chance to thank one of the police officers who saved his life. angel colon with a big hug for officer omar delgado who only had this to say, i'm so glad you are alive. angel had been shot in the hand and hip but played dead as the gunman kept firing. >> when i first saw him i was face down laying down on the floor. i could only move my arms and my head up so i just saw him, like somebody help me please. when he was dragging me up i could just tell him hurry,

going out there. taking a look at the big picture speeds dropping down into the low teens, even some single digits on some of our roadways. the blue route has been slow all afternoon long from saint davids all the way down to delaware, so keep that in mind. again, very slow going out there. heading into delaware, speaking of delaware, firefly music festival route one southbound nice and slow there as you're making way down to that fun weekends and over to the admiral wilson boulevard in new jersey you can see the standstill out there because we have there road closure on 38 so at a crawl coming across the ben franklin bridge making your way through this point and down to 130. taking a look at the 42 freeway, nice and slow out there as you're making your way southbound towards the atlantic city expressway. the atlantic city expressway isn't looking too badly right now but as you approach the garden state parkway you can expect to see that volume start to pick up as you're making your way down to the shore points. area bridges again nice and slow. we had construction earlier both lanes of the walt whitman bridge so really at a crawl out there and especially with those making their way into

really nice weekend as we head into both saturday and sunday. something to keep in mind, though, this weekend is that the u.v. index will be very high. we're calling for a number of nine's so if you're outside any time between 10:00 a.m. and 4 o'clock during the afternoon hours as we get into our weekend a good idea to use some sunscreen and add some extra layers as well as far as the sunscreen is concerned. saturday golfing, not a bad day. sunny and nice, light winds, 9:00 a.m. that temperature 69 degrees and 1 o'clock in the afternoon that number coming in at 81 degrees so that saturday but as we get into sunday it's all about the run, the gary papa run there at eakins oval. low humidity its warming quickly. 7 o'clock in the morning that temperature 64. and by 10:00 a.m. on sunday, a temperature of 74 degrees as we help top fight prostate cancer there at eakins oval. if you're traveling down the shore this weekend not going to be bad. saturday sunny and comfortable, high temperature of 74 degrees but there is a moderate risk for rip currents
