gifted one of their children at least one of their children to kaplan. there is a lot to report here and "action news" reporters dann cuellar and trish hartman are standing by. let's begin with dann at the bucks county prosecutor's office in doylestown. dann, what are the facts as you know them? >> reporter: well, jim, authorities say it is one of the most bizarre cases to ever come out of bucks county. an amish couple accused of essentially selling their daughter to a feasterville man, a man who then had sex with the girl and sired two children. the case came to light when lower southampton police went to the home of 51-year-old lee kaplan at 428 old street road in feasterville to check on the well-being of children. they found kaplan living with 12 females ranging in age from six months old to 18 years old. the 18-year-old told police that she was the mother of the six month old and the three-year-old and that kaplan was the father. kaplan admitted having sex with the girl when she was 14 and that he sired the two

children with her. he also said that he and the girl's parents daniel and savilla stoltzfus had come the an agreement that the girl would be gifted to him. police also talked with the amish couple from quarryville lancaster county who told them he had -- they had given their daughter to kaplan as a gift for helping them financially and not having to lose their farm. here's more from lower southampton police. >> right now we're coordinating with authorities in lancaster county to interview these children, in a safe environment and as of right now all three suspects are in custody. >> reporter: now, the amish couple are also the parents of the seven other children. no evidence that they were sexually assaulted. the children are now at a lancaster -- with children and youth services in lancaster county. 51-year-old kaplan has been charged with statutory sex assault indies sent assault corruption of minors unlawful contact with a minor and the amish couple have been charged

with conspiracy for statutory sexual assault endangering the welfare of children and related offenses. all are in jail after not being able to post $1 million bail each. so, this is a developing story, jim. we'll have more later on "action news." back to you. >> thank you, dann and let's switch live now to feasterville where "action news" reporter trish hartman has just talked to the person who apparently busted this situation wide open. trish, what have you heard? >> reporter: well, jim, this all started when police received a complaint about the health and safety of numerous children living in this home on old street road. you can see the home right behind me. police had also been told that kaplan was telling neighbors that no children lived there. well, we just spoke with the woman who says she contacted authorities this week after seeing multiple young girls living in the home. she would see them outside, all wearing blue dresses and she says they all looked unhappy and fearful. she said a neighbor saw the

man bring home a baby girl around six months ago and when she heard that no report had been made she made an official complaint. >> i just wasn't going to let go. i saw a couple girls last week standing in the drive way. they just looked unhappy and sad, you know. again, in there blue dresses and i had been telling my husband, you know, for years i'm like there's something isn't right, something isn't right. >> reporter: now that woman says she feels like a weight has been lifted and hopes the girls receive the help and therapy they need. she said today is like liberation today. now, there had been a lot of activity on this street after this afternoon since we got here. some neighbors have stopped us wondering what's going on, others seemed to know what happened but did not want to speak with us. many people, though, are anxious to find out more details about what happened in this home on old street road. we're live in feasterville, trish hartman, channel6 "action news." jim. >> trish, thank you for the report.

making her hometown proud. >> took one of the brightest stars our town has produced. >> reporter: security is very tight at the church. mourn pars have until 8:00 p.m. to pay their respects. that is followed by a memorial service we're told a video of grimmie performing one of her favorite songs will be played. that song in christ alone. in medford, jeff chirico channel6 "action news." >> a bucks county vigilante and his victim are now both facing charges. bay slop jones has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting a man after he says he spotted him trying to break into his car at an apartment complex in morrisville yesterday. surveillance video seems to show jones chasing the suspect joshua dennis and then shooting him. police say dennis was driving a stolen car. the bucks county district attorney's office says the incident is a good reminder to leave police work to police. the judge dismissed a juror in congressman chaka

fattah's corruption trial this morning. there has been no reason disclosed. an alternate replaced that juror bringing the jury to nine women and three men. so that the judge ordered the panel to restart deliberations because of all this, the 11 term congressman is charged with accepting bribes and ripping off charitable donations and federal grant money to pay off his personal and political debts. the massacre in orlando has spurred senate lawmakers to schedule votes on four gun control bills but none are expected to pass in their current form. pennsylvania republican pat toomey says he's working with senator susan collins of maine on a compromise proposal that could come to the floor next week. that measure would prevent some terrorism suspects from buying guns. pennsylvania's democratic senator bob casey put forth his own proposal this week aimed at keeping guns out of the hands of those who commit violent crimes based on hate. he made his comments

surrounded by ministers today to mark one year since nine people were killed inside an ame church in charleston, south carolina. new jersey democratic congressman donald norcross went a step further at a calling on congress to ban assault weapons. the hero's welcome organization showed its appreciation today for 25 local veterans. the honorees now live at the willow terrace nursing facility in olney in philadelphia. members of the hero's welcome showed up with american flags this afternoon to thank the vets for their service. 101 high school students took a step into their futures today. mass community charter school held its graduation in northeast philadelphia this afternoon. holy family university hosted the ceremony. 85 percent of the class of 2016 is headed off to college. graduates earned $6 million in scholarships for college. philadelphia mayor jim kenney spoke at the ceremony offering his congratulations and

to oxford but for the most part we are stay drying across most areas of delaware and lehigh valleys. we'll show you the picture outside. its action cam was outside earlier today looking up at the sky. we had clouds earlier today and clouds did break for plenty of sun to get our numbers close to where they should be for this time of year. in fact our high today in philadelphia 84 degrees. but with that east to northeasterly wind and that convergence of moisture just to the west of philadelphia we're town to 78 in the city, 76 in wilmington, 77 in allentown, the lehigh valley. reading holding onto 80. at the coast in cape may 70 and 70 degrees as well in beach haven. here is satellite6 along with action radar. you can see the disturbance we had across our region earlier this morning across south jersey and delaware, all that of moisture moving down to our south as high pressure to our north for the most part sets up shop across our region. so from new england all the way down across the midatlantic region we have this bubble of high pressure in control. it keeps the moisture away and suppresses the cloud cover away from our region as well.
