father's day. seven years ago today we lost gary, his legacy lives on through the people who continue to join out, continuing to join in the battle against prostate cancer. thousands of runners and walkers stepped out in the sunshine celebrating father's day by spreading awareness about prostate cancer. >> my grandfather had prostate cancer, so our whole family has done it, this is the first year i'm doing it. >> reporter: the 14th annual gary pappa run raises money fore breast and pro state health. our sports director gary lost his battle in 2009, but advocated tireless for men's herlt -- health before he died. >> a gentleman came over and said he is a sure -- survivor, he said every year i get a photograph with you.

>> reporter: gary's son 18 years is hosting the award ceremony. >> just remember our priority is to stay focused and continue education and promote awareness. >> reporter: steve morris son of preston and steve is a prostate cancer survive. >> you beat your battle with cancer, i never had a battle because of early detection. $300,000 has been raised so far this year, if you would like to make a donation donate at gary pappa run.com. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. now to a developing story, dive teams are in the delaware river looking for the driver of a minivan that plunged into the water. witnesses reported seeing a silver 20067 buick speeding on oregon avenue around 2:50 a.m. >> i heard a crash, i think i

crashed into another car, i look over and i seen the gate missing and i heard a splash and i told my friend in the car, yo, somebody just went into the water. the minivan was recovered and no one was inside it. the window was kicked out, the witness said the car was going sofs they could not see -- so fast, they could not see how many people were inside the car. a man was injured overnight hitting a utility pole. it flipped over on browning road in pennsauken, camden county at 2:30 a.m. the driverle crawled out of the wreckage of his car. he was treated at the scene and refused to go to the hospital. no word on what caused him to lose control. police are trying to identify the victim of a hit-and-run who was hospitalized with life threatening injuries.

the man was riding a brac and red mountain bike in the southbound area of the walt whitman bridge ramble. the victim is 25 -- ramp, the victim is 25 to 30 years old. he was wearing geebs -- jeans and white sneakers and hat. the driver who hit him was charged. cadaver dogs were brought to a feasterville home where 12 girls were rescued last week. chopper 6 hd was over the property as the dogs went through the property. they have not found any remains. the girls living in the house with lee kaplan were 6 months and 18 years old. kaplan fathered two children with the oldest girl who was gifted to him by her parents when she was 14. neighbors say they have called police for years about strange things at the home.

trish hartman is live at eakens over. couldn't ask for a nicer day. >> reporter: today marks 7 years since we lost our sports director gp -- gary pappa. this event has been held in his memory to raise awareness about prostate cancer. more than 3,000 runners and walkers came out for the 10k or 5k or one mile walk. more than $300,000 has been raised so far for the foundation of breast and prostate here in philly and provides screening and educational programs for men. there are so many inspirational stories, we found a family that participated every year to support their father and grandfather who are currently battling prostate cancer. he said his daughter, a nurse urged him to be more pro active. >> my daughter said no, that's when they found with the biopsy,

see on the movement eferlg wraps wraps -- everything wraps around the high in the clockwise fashion. it's like a protective bubble, if you will, it's hard to get any precipitation into one of these domes. as long as it's situated there it will keep most of the united states fairly dry. the pattern overall has not been bad in terms of heat. here's philadelphia, the pattern looks like, we had a huge heat pump high across the heartland of the nation and high plains. every now have and then it shifts to the east and it snaps back like a rubber band and stays hot out west and cool and refreshing along the eastern seaboard especially the mid atlantic and the northeast. looking into the middle of july suggests that that high situated here will shift here, all of a sudden we'll get stained heat east of the mississippi.
