flying debris can cause a lot of problems. stormtracker 6 live double scan right now showing the direction of the winds. when we have the green that shows the winds towards the radar site, the red is away. when you see the red and green close together, that is gate to gate shear and that indicates rotation. we have a radar indicating rotation with the storm, just to the northwest of wildwood. the good thing is this is beginning to push offshore, but we have the red, that means it's a low level lock. the rotating winds are not just higher in the atmosphere, they are reaching the surface so it's a busy week down the shore and kids are out of school and a lot of folks are out and about. if you know anybody down here, give them a call and tell them to seek shelter immediately. actually we just lost the rotating winds, but we can see
4:01 pm
120 lightning strikes. these continue to push to the east quickly at 45 miles per hour. looks like the most severe part of this now is moving off the coast, that is good. a little bit wider, lets show a wider view paul of the entire area, i want to show you what is go on. delaware is getting hit very hard. the past 15 minutes, this view alone we have 558 lightning strikes, lightning can be deadly. especially a week when a lot of people are on the beaches. this is what i'm watching now pressing across the delaware bay, we see the bowing out and that mean a rush of winds behind the system not look agent rotation but when we get the bowing that indicates there are damaging winds and this is all beginning to push into cape may county. so cape may you are not out of the gun yet. right now the most severe part of the storm is north between sea isle city and stone harbor that continues to push off and this shows the rainfall rates,
4:02 pm
why don't we show how much rain we are talking about. i don't want the focus to be on the tornado, we are looking at heavy rain in a short period of time. close to 4 inches of rain an hour, so what this means when we are looking at the low level areas, that we are experiencing flooding, we'll have more details on this coming up in a few moments. >> thanks cecily. >> we are getting a live picture now via facebook from one of you viewers traveling in wildwood, new jersey, right now. the live picture shows the intensity of the rain. the rain bouncing off rooftops there, the rain is coming down intensely and we are getting word of scattered power outages throughout the area. we want to invite the viewers that can safely send us pictures and videos to do that, and be a part of "action news" to tell the story of this severe weather
4:03 pm
happening in our area. we are looking at that as an example of that now on the facebook livevy coming in from wildwood. we'll continue to watch this and keep an eye out for what is happening out there. meantime lets get back to adam joseph. >> a live look at cape may county, this is cape may a live shot from sky 6, a report of an 80 miles per hour wind gust came through cape may as the storm passed by, just destructive winds into cape may county and the tornado warning remains in effect until 4:15 p.m. you will want to remain sheltered. down the shore people are taking shelter in interior rooms and underneath staircases and in and around stone harbor, as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan the storm that initiated the tornado warning is now
4:04 pm
mainly off the coast from stone harbor at least the worst part of it, the initial storm off the coast, but there is a second round of severe weather pushing in from the bay, it is now moving away from delaware and you can see the hook right here, this is a bow echo. it looks like a bow and arrow being stretched out and like a bow and arrow, that arrow accelerates at high velocities than is what is happening with this kind of structure. it is sending out extremely strong winds heading towards cape may with 500 like strikes from this vantage point. >> the tornado warning is canceled now for cape may county, that was in effect until 4:15. it has been canceled 11 minutes early with this initial storm pull ago way. the tornado warning is canceled and we see severe storms passing through with this line here. sunset beach 4:0, watch for this
4:05 pm
particular storm and highlands beach 4:08 and west cape may 4:08 and in addition to the rush of wind with this severe weather that is passing through we see a cylinder pop up within that bow echo here. it's not a red cylinder, this super level locks that means turning winds in the atmosphere, the upper part of the atmosphere, if this turns red that means the winds are starting to descend from the thunderstorm. at this point there is no tornado warning in effect for any parts of our area. but we are not out of the woods we are starting to see two cylinders popping up here with again, dangerous continuous ground -- cloud to ground lightning. rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour, blinding rain. cape may recorded a wind gust in the last 15 minutes, of 80 miles per hour. that is more than likely straight line winds for cape may
4:06 pm
which can be just as destructive as a weak tornado here. but over the open waters of the delaware bay we have some rotation showing up again on double scan live radar. there are no tornado warnings in effect at the present time. we are taking a live look now from cape may sky 6 here. decent visibility at this point and as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan, there is a bit of a break in southern parts of cape may county but again a second round that is about to push in we'll be watching that on double scan live radar because this means business as the second round is moving in and sea isle city you are getting hammered now. remain indoors until all of this passes by in the next hour or two. >> meaning we are not in the clear just yet. >> you'll keep an eye on that. remember when storms hit our area, be sure to share our pictures and videos with us on
