"action news" is the severe weather that just moved through our area. lets get to meteorologist, cecily tynan, at the big board tracking double scan radar. >> cape may county was under a tornado warning less than an hour ago, that warning was canceled and double scan live showing that cluster of storms that spawned the tornado warning pushed offshore and we still have one left over cell in extreme northeastern ocean county, this is crossing north of normandy beach between that and point pleasant and it's beginning to die down. the lightning strike now down to 19 and 18 now and pushing to the east. this is the last of it, but it was a stormy afternoon down the shore, this is stormtracker 6 live double scan, we moved this back to 2:00, this is when the intense line of storms worked through delaware to cape may and 3:40 is when the tornado warning was posted and we have wind

reports of 80 miles per hour gusts in cape may county. that caused a lot of problems, these are some of the storm reports, they are still coming in and barnegat township reporting hail and wind gusts causing problems, a tree fell in a house in whitesboro and lots of power outages in lower township. this was sent to me from britney off the whale watching ship off the coast of cape may showing the shelf cloud moving in. i'll have more on the storm damage coming up in a few minutes. >> thanks cecily. philadelphia congressman, chaka fattah, is facing serious jail time after the verdict was handed down in his corruption case today. >> we are going to confer with my lawyers and pick out what the next steps are. >> those were congressman fattah's first words after he was convicted in the corruption case, he was found guilty on all

counts he was facing in federal court. the trouble began back in 2014 ben a complex money laundering scheme surfaced tied to an illegal million dollar loan for fattah's unsuccessful campaign for mayor of philadelphia back in 2007, and he four of his associated were indicted for racketeering and fraud for mishandling funds, an deliberation a jury found fattah guilty of all 23 counts. walter perez is live now in winfield tonight with more on the reaction of the verdict. >> reporter: hey guys, the reaction by and large is disappointment by colleagues and constituents, one person says this is a prime example of how a bad decision can overshadow a lifetime of work. >> i'll offer myself as a candidate. >> the conviction of chaka

fattah primarily resolves around his attempt to pay back an illegal $1 million campaign loan linked back to his run for mayor in 2007. he was found guilty on all counts including racketeering and money laundering and fraud and his lawyer argued he was unaware of the schemes, but the facts proved that congressman fattah was fully aware of what was going on. >> today's verdict making clear that the citizens of the eastern district of pennsylvania expect their public officials to act with honesty and integrity and not sell their office for personal gain. >> following the ruling congressman fattah released a statement, in part. today's decision notwithstanding it's my is it privilege to serve the constit whens for over 20 years, we passed legislation

into custody and one is from lehigh valley county. all three remain in custody as the investigation continues. u.s. attorney general, loretta lynch, say they are following leads on the gunman in last year's deadly nightclub shooting. lynch visited orlando today saying that the federal government is standing with the gay community and federal officials are going back over each moment see first degree there was anything they could have done better. meantime in washington, republican senator, susan collins of maine is looking for a bipartisan support on gun control. she expects her proposal to reach the senate floor. they voted down four separate amendments all aimed at keeping the guns out of hans of terrorists. >> new tonight, governor chris christie, is calling equal funding per student. he made the announcement in

shows a sign of improvement. the increase in the amount of whole grains and nuts and drop in sugar sweetened drinks like soda, lemonade and teas, and the percentage of people eating an overall bad diet decreased 10% over the past decades, but the amount of fruits and vegetables people are eating has not gone up and sodium has not gone down. it did not look at whether portion sizes decreased. one obstacle to a diet is making too many changes all at once. i suggest making a small change every week or so and give it time to become a habit. >> chester county recorded their first case of a resident contracting the zika virus duran overseas trip. her case was mild and did not require hospitalization. she has since recovered.

to date 23 cases of zika virus are confirmed in pennsylvania all acquiredover seas. a washington state teenager is celebrating his rebirth match a kidney transplant, 19-year-old nigel dalton was part of something new a kidney donation chain. he had kidney disease since birth, his mother wanted to donate her kidney but was not a match, she donated her kidney to a stranger and her son got a kidney from california. it involved 14 donors and 14 recipients across the country. >> it's an amazing break through that has been much more rapidly adopted in the adult transport plantation, and we are excited to be able to offer it to enroll our patients in the program. >> don't want to do dialysis

southern new jersey, this is the rainfall estimates, you can see that parts of cumberland county into cape may county, anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of rain in a short period of time. they intensified as they hit cape may county. we have trees and miles per hour lines down and jackie from wildwood posting this photo from the harbor inn. those deck chairs are down in the pool right now and i think a lot of pools in cape may county are dealing with that right now. this also is a great shot from dotty, this is a shelf cloud the border between the updraft and downdraft and this shows the storm as it approached bethany beach, delaware and that line did intensify as it pushed to the east. areas that got the rain, cool 66

at cape may point. millville 68 but philadelphia at 80 down from the high of 88 and allentown and reading steamy in the mid-80s. satellite 6 along with action radar showing we got two pockets of storms and 7:00 we had storms around atlantic city and they were spotty in nature and the second wave arriving with the heat of the day and that allowed them to intensify, and a bubble of high pressure moving in and that clears out the sky and brings a dry day tomorrow, before we have to do this all over again on thursday, and thursday could be more widespread. turning clear and comfortable and lower humidity. 69 for center city and tomorrow nine and breezy and warm but not as humid as today. 88 degrees in philadelphia and allentown 85 and cape may 81 and wilmington 87 degrees and thursday we have the risk of

several western states as well as the escalating battle between hillary clinton and donald trump. you can watch that following "action news" at 6:00. >> we are here at the big board with life saving training for police and first responders in delaware county. this is an active shooter training exercise, put on by the haverford township fire department today. this was scheduled before the massacre in orlando but the deadly siege weighed heavily on the officers and volunteered that participated today it includes john newman school and freely school in havertown, police were deployed to one school like they would be in an active shooting situation. they threw in a curveball as a second shooter situation unfolded at a second school. they had to use their training and knowledge for both incidents, teachers and staffs stood in for the fake emergency,

wound to the chest, the victim was rushed to the area torresdale hospital, but did not survive. police have not identified the victim or why he was targeted. meantime, detectives are looking for a pair of armed thieves who armed a west philadelphia market. the men walked into the walnut food market on the 5600 block of walnut street last week. one man pulled a gun and the other took 500 there's from the cash register. >> from our delaware newsroom, this is 33-year-old jose garcia of milford, he is now facing several charges of robbery, assault and kidnapping following an armed robbery yesterday. authorities say that garcia walked into the international store and threatened to kill the clerk unless she handed over money. garcia allegedly dragged her to the back of the store and threatened to sexually assault her and thankfully she was able
