rest in peace, cuzzo. police are looking for a person who shot a man in the back sitting in the car on a north philadelphia street. the action cam was at 10th and diamond where the road was littered with shell casings. the victim was able to drive and spotted police officers who were investigating an accident nearby. officers took him to temple university hospital. there's no word ons condition. police are looking -- on his condition. police are looking at surveillance video to identify the shooter. the folcroft police officer is doing better, his hometown rallying around him and wishing him a speedy recovery.

>> reporter: there were cheers where there could have been tears. >> we need to acknowledge the fact that something miraclous has happened. hundreds of gathered to honor christopher dorman. >> i started crying, i know he is one of us. >> reporter: for many, christopher dorman isn't just any cop, he was born and raised in folcroft and volunteer as a firefighter since he could drive. police say he was ambushed responding to a call of drug activity. he was flown to penn presbyterian where he underwent surgery for a shot to his face, leg and groin. the bullet proof vest saved his life. his son is a fighter and

abc news london. house appropriations committee is planning a rare sunday night meeting, so far the republican controlled house and senate have not supported tax increases governor wolf proposed to pay for increases in school programs. both sides have talked about reinstating a tax on gas and cigarettes. a young man was rushed to temple university hospital after his car crashed into a utility pole, the action cam at north 11th and west susquehanna avenue. the man is being treated for head trauma and other serious injuries. the pole sports a septa trolley line. police are trying to determine what caused the accident. a woman was found dead after philadelphia firefighters put out a fire in germantown.

the woman's body was discovered in the basement. another person was taken to einstein, medical center. investigators think the home was abandoned. they are looking for the cause of the fire. new eyes are helping philadelphia police patrol the schuylkill river trail. trish hartman has the details. >> schuylkill trail watch starts now. >> reporter: after months of training volunteers started patrolling the schuylkill river trail an effort to keep its users safe. >> once we began to advertise we were creating a trail watch, people stepped up to the plate saying how can i get involved. >> people will be in pairs, bikers walkers and runners will be paired off together in two hour shifts throughout the day. >> reporter: badges were handed to people who completed the

out around 2:00 p.m. >> he was going to meet a friend at wayne and see more street. >> reporter: that friend never showed. >> james was walking down the street and someone was waiting for him at seymore and west moreland street. a guy pulled out a pistol and fired at james. chased james across the street and james fell, the shooter shot him 12 times. robin said the neighbor heard her son bleeding for his life -- pleading for his life. the neighbor said i didn't do it, man, i didn't do it, man. he was set up. >> reporter: the 28-year-old died a short time later at the hospital. he leaves behind two sons ages 8 and 9. >> you can see how much they
