temple university hospital. this morning there's no word about his condition. we do know, however, that police are looking at surveillance video to try to identify the shooter. this morning we are happy to report that injured folcroft, delaware county police officer christopher dorman is doing much better. his condition has been upgraded to guarded two days after he was shot seven times. his hometown is rallying around him and wishing the officer a speedy recovery. jeff chirico was at a celebration led by christopher dorman's father. >> reporter: there were cheers where there could tears. >> we need to acknowledge the fact that something miraculous has happened. >> reporter: hundreds wrote messages of support to celebrate christopher dorman who took seven bullets to protect his tight knit community. >> i started crying. >> right away i started thinking which one was it.

>> reporter: for many, christopher dorman isn't just any cop. he was born and raised in folcroft and volunteered as a firefighter since he could drive. police say he was spongtd to a call -- responding to a call of drug activity he was flown to pen presbyterian where he underwent surgery for shots to his face, leg and groin. >> he is alive. >> reporter: george dorman said the bullet-proof vest saved his son's life. he is a fighter and refusing all pain medication. >> i would have been hitting that red button every few seconds. >> i would like to thank the police and paramedics and the doctors. >> reporter: doorman released the video thanking those who saved him. but the neighbors say they should be the ones doing the thanking. for the shooting police arrested

donte brooks island and charged him with two counts of murder and related charges. he is accused of shooting at two officers. island is being held on $1 million bail. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> we learned that officer dorman had tickets to attend the kenny chesney concert. he asked chesney to not forget him. chesney heard about him, and acknowledged him at the linc, but mistakenly told the crowds he had died. that was a huge mistake. chesney was called to correct the mistake, we've been checking all morning, so far no apology given. three counties in west virginia have been declared federal disaster areas. >> reporter: it took hours for
