ben simmons tweeted -- time 9:02. new this morning, police are looking for the person who shot a man in the back while sitting inside a car on a north philadelphia street. the action cam at the scene 10th and diamond streets where the road has littered with shell casings. the victim was shot at 3:30 a.m. he was able to drive and spotted police officers investigating an accident nearby. they took the injured man to temple university hospital. this morning no word on his condition. this morning, folcroft police officer christopher dorman continues to recover after being shot seven times on friday. his condition was upgraded to guarded which is good news. last night his hometown rallied to support him. jeff chirico was there. >> reporter: there were cheers where there could could have tears. >> we need to stop and acknowledge the fact that

something miraculous has happened. >> reporter: hundreds lit candles and wrote messages of support celebrating officer christopher dorman who took seven bullets protecting his community. >> i started crying. he is one of us. >> reporter: for many, dorman isn't just any cop he was born and raise understand folcroft and volunteered as a firefighter since he could drive. police say he was ambushed responding to a call of drug activity. he was flown to penn presbyterian where he underwent surgery for shots to his face, leg and groin. >> he is alive ascertain doing terrific. he is up and walking. >> reporter: george dorman said the bullet-proof vest saved his son's life. he is refusing all pain meld indication. >> i would be hitting that little red button every two

mistake -- we have calls in about the mistake. a ferocious wildfire has taken lives of two people. we know 150 homes have been reduced to ashes and another 500 are threatened. lighter winds are helping fire crews make gains, only a small percentage is contained. since thursday, the fire has burned 57 1/2 square miles. president obama has approved federal aid for flood-ravaged portions of west virginia. two people have died and several are missing and unknown number are homeless. federal emergency officials have begun the job assessing the homes and businesses.

montgomery county authorities are trying to identify the body of a man found in stoney creek last night. he was discovered in the creek under the airy street bridge close to where it enters the schuylkill river. there is no word from investigators who are trying to identify the body and find out how the man died. dozens of people hit the schuylkill river trail in center city, not for a run, they were part of a watch group aimed at cutting down the crime that occurred along the trail. "action news" reporter, trish hartman has the latest information. >> schuylkill trail watch starts now. >> reporter: after months of training volunteers started patrolling the schuylkill trail to keep the users safe. >> once we began to advertise we were creating a trail watch. people stepped up to the plate and said how can i get involved. >> reporter: 80 volunteers in plain cloths will patrol the trail. next week they will be in
