he grew up in folcroft and more than a hundred people were on hand to welcome him home. escorted by police agencies across delaware county officer chris dorman arrived at the folcroft fire department to rousing applause. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: his injuries are raw yet the 25-year-old mustered the strength to thank the folcroft community. >> i'd like to say thank you to everybody for being there for me and my family and fellow brothers in blue through this and everybody supporting me throughout. i appreciate it. >> we love you, chris. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: dorman wouldn't discuss details of what happened friday morning but investigators say he responded to a report of drug activity in the 1500 block of elmwood. upon arrival, authorities say dorman was ambushed by dante brooks island shot in the face, chest, groin and leg. a total of seven gun shots. his parents and others are calling his survival a

miracle. >> i listened to the radio dispatch which i hadn't done and it was the most horrifying thing i'd ever heard in my life to hear my son calling for help like that and i just lost it. i've been so thankful. i'm thankful to god. i'm thankful to all the people that offer prayers. >> pretty extensive injuries that he has and i want to see him through. i know he'll come back stronger and through just this experience i am sure everybody that he will turn night a positive. >> reporter: and officer dorman didn't want to discuss details of his injuries but i'm told by his family that more surgeries lie ahead. i'm live in folcroft, chad pradelli channel6 "action news." >> good to see him out of the hospital, chad, thank you. there was another remarkable moment today as dorman left the hospital. just before he got into the car, watch this, he was greeted by a plan who knows exactly what he's going

through. philadelphia officer jessie hartnett who was shot in the line of duty back in january was right there to shake dorman's hand. "action news" has also learned that there was a problem with the 911 and dispatch systems in delaware county as police responded to the call of an officer down friday. and it's not the first time the issues have come up. "action news" reporter john rawlins will have details in a live report coming up at 4:30. in other news one man is dead after he was hit by two different vehicles at a car wash in the bustleton section of philadelphia. it happened here at the crews and clean car wash on krewstown road just before noon today. police say a 22-year-old plan who worked there was hit by a car while he was wiping the back window of another vehicle. he was then hit a second time by a different car leaving the business. he died at the scene. we are still working to learn his name. police said osha are investigating. now to the latest on a

very grisly story out of northeast philadelphia where a woman was shot and killed with a cross bow inside her own home. it happened around 9:30 last flight on the 3100 block of will let's road. investigators say 42-year-old pamela knightinglyer was taken to aria torresdale hospital where she died from her injuries about an hour later. police say that she and a witness all identified her husband 41-year-old paul k usa n as the suspect. he's in police custody right now. that's a picture of the newlywedding considers happier times. police say she was shot with a hunting cross bow, that arrow going through her torso and even through the couch she was sitting on before hitting a wall. she managed to run next door for help but again later died at the hospital. police say the suspect appeared to be incoherent. neighbors describe the scene. >> completely exposed. we thought it was his sister, his wife now we know his wife

came out with a robe and said he didn't take his medications put a robe around him. >> so far no charges have been filed against k usa n. his husband as we found out her husband for just nine days. at this point investigators do not believe that this was an accident. "action news" anchor and reporter sarah bloomquist working the story will have more for us as 5:00 and 6:00. >> alicia thank you. time for a check of the accuweather forecast this monday. >> meteorologist adam joseph has the story for us. how are things looking adam. >> looking pretty nice. there are clouds and showers entering from the western suburbs but after a beautiful weekend with low humidity, you can feel that that humidity is moving back in. right now in philadelphia a temperature at 85 degrees. the 70's for the north and western suburbs, lancaster and reading, 74 to 79 because of some showers and a sea breeze at the shore where temperatures there are only in the mid 70's. the dewpoint 63 so slightly humid but notice the 70's

increasing from the south with that southerly wind so we'll continue to see that humidity really jump up here tonight and tomorrow. on storm tracker6 live in addition to that we have a cold front working in from the northwest suburbs that is going to call throughout the night and throughout the day tomorrow. so right now we have no thunderstorms but downpours and showers stretching through parts of lancaster county berks county up into the lehigh valley slowly working in from the northwest to the south and east so some communities especially north and west of philadelphia are getting hit by some rain here this evening. we'll talk about this front stalling and what it means for some strong maybe a couple of severe storms at times tomorrow. i'll chat about it in the full accuweather forecast monica when i head back inside. >> a bridal boutique in delaware abruptly closed its doors leaving more than a dozen brides to be without their gowns and now as they try to make new plans for their big day the state attorney general's office is investigating there business. with the details. jeanette. >> reporter: well, monica, many newly engaged women stopped by anastasia's bridal in wilmington to say yes to the dress only to find out that the bridal shop is closed and the owner is nowhere to be found. ask any bride and most will tell you finding the tress is one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning. many like ashley experienced that unforgettable moment at anastasia's bridal with the owner. >> i wouldn't caller warm and fuzzy but she was professional enough. >> reporter: professional and new how to make a deal. >> offering a discount if you paid cash it was 10 percent if you paid cash and then 15 percent off if you paid in full in cash. >> reporter: she jumped at the better of the two. she paid $1,500 in full. four months out from the big day, she found out other brides who went to the same shop were not receiving their gowns. >> we called the store. left a message.

sent e-mails to the store's owner. at that point their web site had been disabled. my heart was quickly starting to sync. >> reporter:. >> reporter: we knocked on doors and made calls with no luck. mashing ton started this facebook page called anastasia's burned brides. the likes quickly grew. dozens of women with similar stories but the response was not what she expected. former brides weren't getting involved. >> a lot of brides have come forward girls who already got married offering their dresses. >> reporter: her fiancé adam cooper makes it clear that it's not the dress he cares about. >> her and i are getting married and that's all that marries. >> reporter: and even though she now has her dress after having to pay for it again, she can't help but wonder what this bridal shop owner was thinking. >> why would you wander to take money from excited brides and their families and hard working people? >> reporter: not too long ago we were able to get ahold of the bridal shop owner's husband.

he tells me he is not able to comment and neither is she because of pending litigation but in the meantime if you have been affected by this we understand a lot of brides are probably finding out with this report we're here to help. go to our web site 6abc.com for information on what your next steps should be. reporting live in wilmington, i'm jeanette reyes for channel6 "action news. back inside to you. >> jeanette, thank you. meantime new jersey is one step closer to passing a state budget. the senate passed a $35 billion budget this afternoon. the assembly is expected to vote on the plan later today. the state constitution requires a budget by midnight june 30th which is this thursday. lawmakers are us expected to vote on a separate bill that would raise the gas tax by 23 cents per gallon. governor chris christie says he is opposed to that legislation. meantime pennsylvania lawmakers are back in harrisburg today as they try to work out a new state budget before thursday's deadline. they broke from a meeting over the weekend without an

agreement on a spending level or a tax package. and this is the second year of budget talks since governor tom wolf took office. the first budget did not pass until about nine months after the deadline. he is one of the legends of philadelphia sports and developing right now he can add a new title to his legacy. eric lindros was just elected to the hockey hall of fame. the former flyers captain spent 13 years in the league including eight here in philadelphia. he led the orange and black to the stanley cup finals in 1997. and we'll have more coverage for you coming up in sports tonight at 5:00. the federal department transportation has chosen the vine street expressway to get a makeover. the u.s. secretary of transportation anthony fox joined philadelphia leaders today to announce a redesign of i676. they say the highway initially fulfilled its purpose of connecting i-95 to the schuylkill expressway but the city has since grown and the vine expressway now divides the surrounding neighborhoods including chinatown and the

callowhill district. officials are hoping to recan correct those communities by redesigning the road. they'll take public input before determining the exact changes. it is time now for the "action news" traffic report. >> all right, let's take it live to autumn marisa in for matt pelman to see how it's rolling on a monday. >> hey, autumn. >> hi, monica and sharrie. we'll get started right by the vine street expressway. here we are on the schuylkill making your way up towards the vine. you can see things not looking too bad right now if you're heading in those eastbound lanes down to the city taking you only about 24 minutes from the blue route if you're heading out in the westbound lanes a little slower. you'll tap the brakes around belmont up through the conshohocken curve. speeds across the region on the big picture dropping down into the teens and even single digits on the schuylkill as well as 95. not moving too badly on the blue route right now though. we'll expect to see a few delays as storms roll through and taking a look at the vine street expressway, those eastbound lanes heading up to 95, those are our bigger slowdowns right now because very slow going from girard avenue up through cottman on

rights advocates. justices voted five to three in favor of texas clinics that argued new regulations made it harder for women to get abortions. the new rules would have required doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and force clinics to meet hospital standards for outpatient surgery. the justices said the rules are not medically necessary and put an unconstitutional limit on a woman's right to an abortion. >> this is a tremendous victory. and we will go forward in making sure that all of the laws that are blocking women's access to the constitutional rights will be overturned. >> also today, the court upheld a law aimed at keeping guns out of the hands of people convicted of domestic violence. >> well, it is the second full day of trading on wall street following friday's brexit bombshell vote in the uk.

shear how the markets closed 69 the dow losing another 260 points on the day red arrows across-the-board this coming after those losses and friday. so, a rough couple of days for trading. the aftershocks not a shock to traders who have been bracing for the worst since britain voted to leave the european union. secretary of state john kerry is in london today meeting with british leaders to map out a game plan moving forward. he says it's the responsibility of both officials and people to make wise choices to counter all of this uncertainty. >> and that means choices that to every degree possible are not aimed at retribution, not aimed in anger but, rather, are thought through in a way that brings people together. >> now, british officials are slated to meet with eu leaders in brussels tomorrow but british prime minister david cameron says formal exit talks are not going to happen right away.

cameron has been against the exit but since it's the will of the people he says it must nap a clear and careful manner. but businesses in britain are already scrambling freezing investments and hiring today the british pound at its lowest in 31 years. meanwhile back here at home on wall street the big question, could others follow in britain's footsteps triggering a global recession? but one thing is for sure all eyes are on our markets and of course for those of us watching from home, those 401k's. monica. >> all right. hillary clinton meantime is drumming up support in the battleground state of ohio. today's rally in cincinnati marked the first time that massachusetts senator elizabeth warren has joined clinton for a presidential event. warren is considered a possible running mate for mrs. clinton. the pair teamed up today to go after donald trump. >> a small insecure money grubber who fights for no one but himself. >> and i must say i do just

love to see how she gets under donald trump's thin skin. >> trump's response came in the form of a tweet. crooked hillary is wheeling out one of the least productive senators in the u.s. senate, goofy elizabeth warren end quote. he went on to accuse warren of lying about her native american heritage. trump is due in westemoreland county western pennsylvania to deliver a policy speech tomorrow afternoon. pepsi says it will start using the sweetener aspartame again less than a year after pulling it from its drinks over safety concerns. aspartame has been linked to cancer in lab mice but pepsi says its customers do not like the new taste of its diet drinks so starting this fall pepsi will sell a new diet pepsi blend specifically for people who want aspartame. the company also plans to start selling pepsi max once again which contains the sweetener as well. >> time right now to get a check of that accuweather

forecast. >> let's check in with meteorologist adam joseph. >> unsettled at time overs the next 24 hours. improvement as we get into wednesday and beyond. storm tracker6 live double many double scan will show we have a couple showers and downpours in the northern western suburbs as a boundary is pushing in and this front is going to stall as we go into the overnight hours into tuesday, so a closer look right now at storm tracker6 live in the lehigh valley no, lightning strikes but some showers, a pocket or two of heavier downpours moving away from kutztown towards macungie allentown and as you head south on the northeast extension at times you will be getting wet. in fact, this extends into parts of berks county and northern lancaster county near reading adams town, heading towards plowville er elverson. not expecting much in the way of thunderstorms tonight but there could be some heavy downpours at times. temperature-wise it's only in the 70's where it has been raining but it's really humid, 75 in allentown, 74 in reading. middle to upper 80's from wilmington, philadelphia to

trenton and with the sea breeze, much cooler at the shore, temperatures there only in the 70's. there's the boundary that's bushing in from the west. it makes its way down through the virginias as well as tennessee and can kentucky. again, it's going to be putting on the brakes here tonight and it will also really pull that humidity up. 70 in philadelphia tonight, 67 allentown, 69 in millville. warm and humid and again an isolated downpour or the crack of thunder even as we go into the early morning hours. tomorrow it will feel more oppressive out there with dewpoints jumping to 70 degrees or higher. it's only one day but with those high dewpoints any downpours or thunderstorms that develop tomorrow will contain some very heavy rainfall, even a slight risk for some severe storms in those northwestern suburbs north of the pennsylvania turnpike. the biggest culprit again is going to be the heavy brief rain that could flood some roadways quickly but even the chance for some gusty winds or some small hail. as we look at future tracker

reception. this happened late last night at the hilton garden inn in mount laurel. police have not said what led up to the fight but medics showed up but they say no one was seriously hurt. police have not said if they plan to file any charges in this case. they say they are still investigating. >> folks in our area who advocate for children were recognized for their efforts today. the action cam at city hall this morning where the department of human services held its annual children crusader award. the ceremony highlighted dhs workers and communities members who embrace the safety and well beefing our children. this was the 17th year for the event. and needy kids who normally get free school breakfast and lunches are getting extra support tonight. bob casey was at the saint veronica school in north philadelphia today to discuss ways to combat childhood hunger. he joined members of coalition against hunger to discuss ways to better help poor families. casey also served up some of the free lunches today. a philadelphia playground

speechless. the story behind an incredible performance from this young lady in talkers. >> a broken lifeline for police when they need it most. "action news" is learning new details about the emergency communication failures plaguing delaware county. the system went down on friday just as folcroft officers were desperately trying to get help for officer christopher dorman and now county leaders are trying to make sure the issue doesn't happen again. "action news" reporter john rawlins is covering this story, live outside the communication hub with more about what happened. john. >> reporter: hi, sharrie. well, still more questions than answers at this point but sometime after a dispatcher sent the officers the folcroft officers to look for a possible drug activity, a new computer aided console here dispatch console just failed without warning. it's not known why at this point. what they've done is taken that units out of service until they can get in answers. >> that weary receiving back from our 911 personnel is that

the computer basically went down. >> reporter: according to a county time line at 9:12 friday morning dispatchers. sometime in the next two minutes, 32 seconds that console shut down without alerting its operator mario. >> there was no indication what so much he didn't realize that that console that was rebooting itself, it didn't indicate it, there was no light, there was no signal. >> reporter: at 9:58:44 when folcroft officers arrived their calls including this one. >> i'm slot in the face. i'm shot in the face. >> shots fired, shots fired. >> i'm shot, i' i'm shot i'm shot. >> reporter: were never heard at the 911 call center only when reports came in from an adjacent sector did the console operator understand his unit was malfunctioning. he then jumped to another console. >> if you're talking about a person that's got 20 years of service, okay, very high tech guy, very -- knows his job, i

mean, if on his feet and was very, very, very distraught. >> reporter: this new console replaced these older units only about six weeks ago. price tag about $800,000. an independent investigation has been ordered into friday's shutdown. >> we need to have answers. this cannot happen again. >> reporter: so, the computer glitch is ongoing. at this point in time, no time line as to when they think they'll have answers. another matter happened over the weekend however where officers in darby borough could not communicate using their hand helds. that we are told has to do with atmospheric conditions and a powerful signal sometimes jams those hand held. it's a known factor. it's happened up and down the east coast before to various departments. they are working on a work around here but it's not connected to what happened on friday morning. that is a different matter. that is under investigation as far as what went on at darby borough they're also investigating that and hoping

the 15 early this morning at the barrett run apartments. police say an armed man forced the victim into the car and ordered him to drive to various atm's. the owner was forced to get out on old baltimore pike and the suspect took off with the vehicle. anyone with information should contact new castle county police. meantime police in wilmington trying to figure out who shot a teenager overnight and why. gunfire erupted around 11:30 at 27th and moore streets. police say the bullet hit the 15-year-old in the arm. he is listed in stable condition at an area hospital and the investigation is ongoing. >> an early morning fire left behind a lot of damage at a junkyard in southwest philadelphia. firefighters were called to the 6600 block of essington avenue the 4:00 a.m. they found 20 cars on fire in the back of that facility. no word yet how the flames broke out. meteorologist adam joseph joining us now and it sounds as if we're getting in that pattern of looking out for

those pop-ups. >> yeah, those pop-up showers and thunderstorms. the humidity is coming back up from over the weekend when it was extremely low. for the next 24 hours kind of unsettled at times but not the entire time. as we take a live look on sky6 the ben franklin bridge the sun is out here in philadelphia, 85 degrees, the winds southerly at 13 miles an hour. the heat index one above the air temperature, that dewpoint slightly humid at 63 and we take a live look here from the pagoda cam in reading and you can see not very much. it's because of reduced visibility with some heavy rain passing through parts of berks county right now and we can confirm that on storm tracker6 live double scan. you can see this rain stretching from the lehigh valley right through berks county entering western montgomery county as well as chester county, eastern lancaster county. no lightning strikes. this is actually beneficial rain to areas that desperately need it especially north of philadelphia watering the gardens and the lawns. i will be tracking this round of rain and we'll talk about tomorrow 'cause a certain area -- certain areas could

see strong thunderstorms popping tomorrow afternoon. we'll chat about that as well as look at the seven-day forecast including the attorney ofly. >> just a little bit. >> nice. >> all right, adam thank you. >> okay. >> meantime horsham township city council will holding a public meeting tonight to talk about concerns over chemicals in the water supply. the contamination is centered around two naval facilities and an air guard station in willow grove. the navy and national guard have agreed to pay $19 million for replacement water and filtration systems. tonight's public meeting gets under way at 7 o'clock at the horsham township community center. >> hundreds of philadelphia students are getting ready to spend their summer as interns. the action cam was there as they sat through an orientation at thomas jefferson university hospital all of the students are placed at businesses with help from work ready philadelphia. the initiative connects employers with schools to help teens develop a career path. >> new jersey is called the garden state of course for a good reason. right now farmers in south jersey say their crops are

>> ♪ >> meteorologist adam joseph joining us now and of course we're kicking offer the week -- the weekend was great. >> the weekend was perfect. beautiful. >> now that it's the weekday, things are more unsettled which is okay. we need the rain moving into some of these northwestern suburbs. as we look at storm tracker6 live double scan, very dry north of philadelphia. this late spring, early summer season so this is much welcome to see some of these showers coming through at times, some downpours but overall they're fairly light at this point. no thunderstorms within this line from the lehigh valley that stretches from easton, bethlehem down to allentown, macungie and as you head into southeastern parts of berks county another downpour passing through parts of downtown reading, at least the north side of it and also stretching now into parts of chester county, honey brook elverson heading toward downingtown exton malvern getting some of these showers working in from the north and west and really this is a boundary that will stall overnight tonight and throughout your tuesday to

erupt downpours and thunderstorms really at any given time. 88 right now in trenton, 85 dry in philadelphia, dry to the south in millville, 82. 70's with the sea breeze at the shore and rain cooled back into the low 70's from allentown right down to lancaster. there you see the front progressing in from the west. not only is it going to stall but it is going to be increasing the humidity overnight. in fact, turning oppressive here by tomorrow so those isolated downpours on even a thundershower overnight, warm and humid, 67 in the suburbs, 70's for center city. future tracker showing at the wee hours in the morning tuesday, 4:00 a.m. still we could see some spotty downpours and thunderstorms around, most of us are dry. then at 10 o'clock in the morning tomorrow again there will be scattered around the region but clouds will really dominate the sky here tomorrow with some extreme humidity and then in the afternoon when we try to warm the atmosphere a little bit, that's when we'll see some of those scattered downpours and thunderstorms and there is a slight chance

for some of them to be severe to the north and west of philadelphia and then as we get into the latter part of your tuesday evening, 11:30 at night we're waiting for the front to finally public down to the south and that's the best zone late tomorrow night southern new jersey and delaware for some of these popups to occur. then on wednesday high pressure comes in, wipes the front away, so it is a mixture of sun and clouds on wednesday. could can be a leftover isolated shower but dry overall with less humid air moving in from the north and west and your temperature at 85 degrees. so, for tomorrow a lot of clouds at the shore, not the best of beach days. warm and humid with those spotty downpours and thunderstorms especially late in the day with a moderate risk for rip currents your temperature 77 at the shore tomorrow. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, any of the downpours that develop tonight and especially tomorrow in the afternoon could contain some brief very heavy rainfall at 84 degrees. then the humidity drops here wednesday sun and clouds of 85 and then beautiful thursday and friday, low humidity, a

the couple had married less than two weeks ago. police were first called to the scene on the 3100 block of willlets road around 9:45 last night. sara bloom yesist is live with the details. monica and sharrie. 40-year-old paul kuzan is held in custody here at homicide. police tell "action news" he has given a full confession to murdering his wife with a cross bow. police tell us this is a weapon that might typically be used to hunt bears. the couple had been married for just nine days. >> i just heard banging on the door and my son screaming, you know, and someone saying help. >> reporter: margie maldonado described the horrific scene at her doorstep last night when 42-year-old pamela nightlinger came you stumbling through her front door bleeding heavily from a wound to her chest. >> she was in the floor, you know, gasping for air and she just -- it was terrible
