153 lightning strikes here and a bowing feature here as it approaches lebanon and lancaster as well as york. we'll track this as it comes closer into our area as we go deeper in the afternoon and evening hours. as we look at the dew points, this is why we expect heavy rain with the downpours, dew points in the 70s, that means it's tropical out there. 74 in wilmington and 71 in philadelphia and air temperatures in the 80s from philadelphia to the north and west and the sea breeze is cooler at the shore and only in the 70s. as we look at satellite and radar, sunshine is breaking out and this line continues to expand in intensity as it pushes to the south and east. and the culprit is intense lightning and downpours and a low risk this evening and overnight of hail or tornadoes. we'll chat more about stormtracker 6 live double scan and let you know about a big

admitting to rigging their vehicles to pass emissions tests. vw will also spend $10 billion as part of a buy back program for anybody that wants to get rid of their cars and pay the difference between the buy back and the balance of the owner's loans or leases. if you own one of these we'll have more for you coming up at 4:30 today. part of our area is now under a severe thunderstorm watch. lets get over to meteorologist, adam joseph. >> there are not a lot of storms out there but they are popping up west of lancaster, the severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10:00 tonight everywhere you see the yellow and pretty much of the entire viewing area and the exception is the shore and extreme southern parts of new jersey, the threat is wind and small hail and especially some vivid lightning and also some torrential rainfall, as we

look at stormtracker 6 live double scan pretty quiet at the present time, you can start to see the storms west of lancaster, north of pottsville, one area that is dealing with a severe thunderstorm right now is elizabeth town as this storm heads to the east at 25 miles per hour, there you see the times and the towns with this storm of 83 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes as it push as way from harrisburg, it produces winds in excess of 60 miles per hour heading towards manheim and lincoln. and again, this is not in the viewing area yet but about to bump into the viewing area and we'll watch that as it moves to the east slowly. right now 82 in philadelphia and 85 in allentown and 83 in reading and 70s in southern jersey and dover. we have the tropical air mass in place, factor in the humidity, it feels like 86 in philadelphia

and 87 in allentown and that is the fuel to get these storms going, and they turn severe at times this evening. we look at satellite and radar, the only watch boxes in our viewing area and extending down to washington and parts of baltimore, upper level energy spinning from toronto heavening to ignite the storms, we'll watch the storms especially during the early part of the overnight hours and it remains humid, 62 to 68 degrees for your overnight low, future tracker at 7:00, watch it approach the northwestern suburbs of philadelphia and not everyone is getting hit by the storms, if you do expect heavy rainfall at the minimum, 10:00 still hanging along i-95, and it falls apart as it heads to southern new jersey with lingering clouds in spots and 10:00 tomorrow big improvement here on wednesday as the sunshine starts to go back to work. for the forecast tomorrow, a humid start and we are also going to see a little bit of left over cloud cover with

clouds out there and adam says we are under a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of the area. >> with the sunshine breaking out and destabilizing the atmosphe atmosphere. the exception is southern new jersey and the shore not within the watch box. the main culprit is torrential rain and maybe some small hail. stormtracker 6 live double scan will show the broken line of storms to the north and west. moving to the east-southeast very slowly at 20 to 25 miles per hour. so that is a big concern because as they slowly moved through and it could lead to quick rising waters in spots. it mains in effect until 4:45,

radar out there. >> as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan we do have a severe thunderstorm watch for most of our area until 10:00. the watch means the potential of any of these storms to turn to the severe side, that doesn't mean they will. we are tracking a broken line west of lancaster north of pottsville at the present time. we have a severe thunderstorm warning until 5:45 for almost the next hour just to the west of lancaster, 60 miles per hour wind gusts expected with this storm. it's moving more in a southeasterly direction and that continues to push into southern lancaster county and extreme southern parts of chester county south of oxford. as we look at the storm it's moving at a speed of 20 to 25 miles per hour. extremely heavy rain being released around elizabeth town and 74 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes, aiming towards lancaster and mythville and coreyville and on the brink of our viewing area and this is the

only storm at the present time we are tracking. dew points, 71 in philadelphia and 71 in millville and 74 in dover. this is the fuel for the storms and tropical like downpours released. that is why you say when you step out the door, it's really humid out here because of that moisture. cooler at the shore with the sea breeze and the sea breeze will help to choke the storms as they push into southern new jersey and why we don't have the severe thunderstorm watch for the shore communities or the extreme southern parts of delaware. satellite and radar shows energy pivoting in and helping to unite the storms and roll through here during the overnight hours, at 6:00, it's mainly through pennsylvania, still wading through parts of delaware and new jersey waiting for storms and scattered in variety and not everyone will get hit by these

but if you do expect heavy rainfall and vivid lightning, still hanging on wilmington and philadelphia to the north and west and that starts to push into southern new jersey at 11:00, at that time you see the sea breeze go into effect breaking the line apart and it's all out of here wednesday morning. the biggest concern is the vivid lightning and the heavy downpours, strong winds a moderate threat with some of the storms and not all of them and a low chance of hail and tornadoes with these storms, high pressure comes in tomorrow and improvement dropping humidity especially in the afternoon. 85 degrees and sun and clouds and as we get into thursday, high pressure remains in control and 87 degrees, and the warm front swings from the south to the north on friday to introduce the humidity and a chance for storms one again. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, turning less humid especially at lunch time tomorrow in the afternoon of 85 degrees, a few clouds thursday
