"action news" reporter trish hartman is at the jersey shore with the place to be live from longport with how folks are spending the first week end of july, trish? >> reporter: well, walter as far as these days goes, it doesn't get much better than this at longport there is still plenty of people outside on the beach enjoying the nice breeze. after yesterday's storms people were really ready to even eye their fourth of july weekend and spend today soaking up the sun. stars and stripes were every where, on this perfect beach day in ventnor. lunchtime rolled around what could be more american... then firing up the grill. >> they are able to grill out on the beach this weekend for free without any permit. you can do gas or charcoal so now we will do it every year. >> reporter: in years past they had to buy a permit from the city but not this year.

beach tank holders can grill for free through fourth of july. family is getting ready for a feast and they came prepared with multiple tents and two grills. >> steaks, chicken, shrimp. >> i have been waiting for my brother to get started with that grill. >> i told him i'm not cook to go day. >> reporter: in margate plenty of people were enjoying the waves but had to watch out for a strong over toe. life guard had to make more rescues then usual and asking swimmers to stay close to the sand. >> it is going toward the rocks so they go back out by rock so people just go down this way. >> waves were really pulling me forward and then next thing they are pulling you back deeper. >> reporter: now, the life guard say they will be dealing with that under toe, for the rest of the weekend, so they are encouraging swimmers to pay attention to the life guard and to stay close to shore. live from longport trish hartman for channel six a "action news". walter. >> thanks, trish. speaking of the weather it is time for the a accu weather

forecast. meteorologist melissa magee is at the accu weather big board with what we can expect over the long holiday weekend, melissa. >> we certainly had a beautiful start to the holiday weekend. highs in the upper 70's and 80's here in philadelphia a right now on i-95 corridor numbers are in the 70's. seventy-seven in philadelphia. seventy-four in wilmington. outside to the north and west up in allentown lehigh valley 77. seventy-five in the poconos and cape may. coming in at a comfortable 76 degrees. dew point is really low right now. dew point numbers are in the 40's and 50's. we've got a comfortable air mass overhead. it stays that way for rest of tonight and for that matter for the day on sunday. as well. evening planner, swimming is nice when you want to dine outside, 7:00 p.m. that temperature at 78. will hold at 78 at 8:00 tonight. partly cloudy skies at 9:00 p.m., 75, 73 at 10:00 p.m. and down to 71, mostly clear skies. so humidity stays low through the rest of tonight, few more cloud will roll in into sunday

take time. because of the holiday weekend the real commuting issues won't begin until tuesday. the septa is scheduled to hold a press conference tomorrow, to let commuters know what contingency plans will be put into place. a 70 year-old man was killed, while trying to chase down a septa bus this afternoon in west philadelphia. investigators say the man was at belmont and girard streets right around 2:30 trying to catch the route 15 bus when somehow he ended up under the bus and crushed by a rear tire. no word on the victim's identity and was pronounced dead at the scene. in southwest philadelphia area today a man crashed his car after suffering a heart attack. it happened at 12:30 at intersection of the forty-sixth street and wood land avenue. witnesses tell "action news" it certainly appeared that 25 year-old man suffered some sort of a medical condition before he collided with another vehicle. they say in the end, they found him unconscious inside of his locked vehicle. >> we tried to open up the doors, and it was still in drive. i don't my radio and radioed

my department to call 911. now 911 responded and they broke the glass and got the guy out, laid him out, he was kind of blue in the face, you know, and they resuscitated him. >> medics say it was a heart attack. he is hospitalized tonight but no word on his condition at this hour. from our delaware news room new castle county police are investigating a homicide in claymont. officers were called to the 200 block of chestnut avenue at 9:00 this morning for a report of the women screaming. when they arrived they found a woman and a man both suffering from gunshot wounds. would the men was pronounced dead at the scene, man was taken to the hospital in grave condition. the owners of the popular hoagie shop in delaware county were killed, during an intense fire this morning. theodore and barbara fine own slack's hoagie house in springfield. the investigators say source of the fire appears to be a meat smoker outside their home. "action news" reporter jeff chirico is live at the home in morton with details, jeff? >> reporter: hi there walter.

you can see the burnout home behind me is boarded up at this point. the blaze was so intense we're told that fire fighters had to get out over fear hot that the home would collapse. meanwhile the community is in mourning as the couple who lived here is remembered for their generosity. fire fighters rushed to the scene of this raging house fire in the 600 block of jeter lane just after 5:00 a.m. police arrived first and tried to rescue two people inside. >> while doing so they found two victims just inside front door at bottom of the steps. >> reporter: morton fire chief dean camp says, it prevented police and initially fire fighters from reaching the husband and wife. they are identified as theo and barbara fine, both 58, owners of slack's hoagie shop in springfield. >> my belief is that they got down to the first floor, right inside of the front doorway and then got a lung breath full of super heated gas and smoke and at that point were rendered unconscious.

>> reporter: kemp say fire started in the rear of the house where meat smoker was operate go ahead of the planned weekend picnic. one tank ruptured and likely fueled the fire. neighbors and fellow business owners remember the fines as a kind hearted couple who supported their community, signs inside their sandwich shop from local groups thanked the couple for donate to go various causes. >> they were good to the high schools and they were very nice people, and in the community shop all the time. >> i go into her shop all the time and she does a lot she comes in, and she would bring food here. all the time. very nice people. >> reporter: couple has two adult sons. their impact on the community wasn't lost on those who tried desperately to save them. >> they were key cornerstone in this community. there wasn't a time you could not reach out to them at a time of need. >> reporter: investigators will look into what caused that cook tore malfunction. meanwhile chief put the out this warning which is especially relevant this
