making news in america this morning, the president is hitting the campaign trail today with hillary clinton heading to a key battleground state. donald trump is asking some tough questions about their trip before it even starts. the mistake in massachusetts that caused a large boom to go bust. the barge on fire. new video overnight. and we have breaking news from italy after an american student was found dead in rome. police made an arrest that has plenty of people on both sides of the atlantic wondering what happened. late night joy for nasa now that it's juno spacecraft is orbiting jupiter after a trip that took five years to complete. how soon will we see what it sends back to earth?

a good tuesday morning to all. we begin with hillary clinton poised to hit the campaign trail for the first time with president obama at her side. >> clinton will fly to chasht with the president this afternoon on air force one. meanwhile, donald trump is questioning the trip defending his latest controversial tweet as well. let's get the latest from abc's adrienne bankert joining us here in studio. good morning, adrienne. >> good morning. the holiday weekend is over. the convention is looming and all seen the # iamwithher. >> once rivals now political partners. commander in chief and hillary clinton will be speaking this afternoon at their first joint rally in charlotte. >> it kind of sends the signal of party unity. >> reporter: political insiders say it's obvious president obama is the best person to help restore trust in clinton's ability. >> this early signal of him

getting out on the campaign trail is going to be indicative of how secretary clinton and her campaign is going to structure that strategy. >> reporter: and defeat donald trump. the president began lashing out against the gop nominee following the orlando nightclub shootings. >> we hear language that singles out immigrants. and suggests entire religious communities are complicit in violence. where does this stop. >> reporter: and last week he went off without calling trump by name but again referencing those controversial immigration policies. with word of today's trip donald trump tweeted who pays? which might add fuel to trump's fire as he lambasts clinton over accusations that a recent tweet featuring this six-pointed star graphic was anti-semitic. on the fourth of july trump saying hillary clinton's trying to link the star of david with a basic star often used by

sheriffs is ridiculous. she's just trying to divert attention from the dishonest behavior of herself and her husband. and, of course, that conversation on twitter has continued. the criticism over the trip to north carolina today by having both hillary clinton and the president on air force one according to the white house, though dnc or relevant committee would reimburse the government but taxpayers still end up footing part of that bill. >> the vice president will join her as well in pennsylvania friday. new hints from both parties as each side continues to search for a running mate. sources say the clinton camp is vetting julian castro as a vice presidential pick while donald trump met with joni ernst who is being vetted for the vp job along with christie'sty, newt gingrich and mike pence. extra security for the fourth of july seems to have paid off. other than wet weather in the east no major problems at the

parades and fireworks celebrations around the country though there were shots fired in miami and pittsburgh after the fireworks displays. >> a tense start to the day in the middle east. three terror attacks in saudi arabia yesterday all suicide bombings one happened outside one of islam's holiest sites, the prophet's mosque in medina. it follows attacks in bangladesh and still finding bodies. as baghdad residents mourn the victims iraq has executed five convicted terrorists. the move appears to be an attempt to restore faith in the government's ability to protect it citizens. nearly 5,000 iraqi civilians and security force members have been killed in militant attacks. now to breaking news in that death of an american college student whose body was found in a rome river. italian police say they arrested a homeless man in connection with his murder.

he had just arrived for an exchange program when he disappeared. investigators suspect he may have been the victim of a robbery since his wallet and cell phone were missing. last night solomon was remembered by friends and former classmates in wisconsin. >> everybody knew beau and testament to our community. it's a school district family and i know that everyone will come together and support each other through this tough time. >> his family describes him as a gifted athlete who underwent many operations in a battle with cancer. an explosive divorce in new york central's park that injured a student. a hobbyist or experimenter was behind that blast they believe. they're doing tests on the compound that blew up to learn a little bit more about it but they do not believe the device was intentionally designed to hurt people. today a new trial gets under way for an officer in connection with the death of freddie ray.
