getting uncomfortable out there, and tomorrow through friday, we are looking at dangerous heat and humidity, the heat index. the combination of heat and humidity. yesterday's high was just 80, feels like 94 in millville and feels like 93 in cape may and 92 in wilmington. the dew points are just so my. the system, the warmt warm front that brought us the soaking rain -- dew points up to 69 in philadelphia and when you get the dew points in the 70s it's oppressive that is where they are in south jersey and delaware. the humidity is here and the heat is moving our way. the heat index is in the triple digits to the south, raleigh, charleston, savannah, and this is the heat that is heading our way as we have a strong ridge of high pressure and that means we have a heat wave that begins tomorrow. a heat advisory has been posted

along the i-95 corridor for the heat index in the upper 90s and it gets more intense later in the week and i'll talk more about that coming up in the full accuweather forecast. >> all right cecily thank you. from our new jersey newsroom, officials are hoping that the public will help find the person or persons who set 14 fires since saturday. they mostly happened in vacant homes within a one mile radius, the last one happened yesterday afternoon along mount ephraim avenue. seven fives are injured fighting the blazes and most from heat exhaustion and others from carbon monoxide poisoning. from our delaware newsroom tonight, police in newark say they have new evidence in the case of two attempted kidnappings, just hours apart over the holiday weekend. vernon odom is live in newark with the latest on the investigation.

vernon? >> reporter: good evening rick, tonight newark police are seeking the public's help in getting their hands on a man who recently in recent days terrorizing two women, one late sunday night and the other in the wee hours of the 4th of july. this is surveillance video from a distance the best police have so far of the newark, delaware of the attempted kidnapping suspect. police say he struck twice in the 300 block of main street. the first time 11:20 sunday night inside of this apartment building at the colonial garden come mex. the 26-year-old victim succeeded in fighting him off. despite the man using a chemical soaked rag to subdue her and then next door the same m.o. a chemmicly soaked rag.

investigators say that the american college student found dead in italy got into a fight with a homeless man the night he went missing. beau solomon was robbed by two people in rome and got into a fight. he was founded in the river and this happened just hours after he arrived in rome for an exchange program. he remains in custody.

investors were back on the trading floor today after the holiday weekend. and it was a rough start to the week over new concerns over britain's decision to leave the european union. three financial firms in the uk have stopped trading in british commercial real estate funds sending markets down worldwide. the dow jones fell 108 points and the nasdaq lost 39 and the s&p dropped 13. at the big board now with a big honor for philadelphia's own, honored for his tal ens on stage and screen. leslie oden jr. of hamilton fame was recognized by philadelphia city council. the action cam was in the room where it happened so to speak this afternoon. odom grew up in the east oak lane section and graduated from

time for the accuweather forecast. cecily tynan has the forecast looking nice at the shore but sure is getting hot. >> that is exactly right. fur are down the shore you may want to take breaks in the water over the next few days because it is going to be hot and humid and starting a heat wave tomorrow. sky 6 hd in atlantic city, you can see the boardwalk and beach, crowded with a lot of people and extending their weekends to a full vacation week. and this is a tough week for a lot of people. if you don't like the heat and humidity. right now it's already 89 degrees in philadelphia. kind of knocking on the door of

along the i-95 corridor mid to upper 90s and not much better across the lehigh valley and the shore. that is why an excessive heat advisory is posted for tomorrow and a heat watch for thursday because on thursday it builds even worse up towards $100s. you'll want to remember the heat tips. check on your elderly neighbors and make sure your pets have a cool place to stay and cool drinks. and look for air conditioning and shade and good idea to wear light colored and light clothing. so the five-day at 5:00, showing tomorrow hazy hot and humid and feeling close toward 99. and thursday and friday, 95 degrees, heat index near 100, and pop-up thunderstorms.

hello again monica is off and sharrie williams is joining us tonight. a man walking down the street is ambushed by three thieves looking for money. and here comes the heat. a spike in temperatures and the humidity will make it feel miserable outside. be ready for hot and sticky weather heading our way. meteorologist, cecily tynan, has the latest coming up in a moment. but first, breaking news on the westbound lanes of the walt whitman bridge tonight.

firefighters are on the scene of a car fire here. chopper 6 hd is live over the scene and traffic is backed up on both sides of the bridge. you should expect delays in this area. matt pellman will have more on that in a few moments. right now a car fire is stymieing the rush hour on the walt whitman bridge. and an attack that left a young man in north philadelphia injured and when it was all over the victim was in the hospital. it happened on the 1600 block of cecil b. moore afternoon on june 28 and. chad pradelli is live at the scene of the attack and more on the investigation. >> reporter: it was a brutal attack, the victim was knocked out and he had his jaw broken and the 23-year-old had to had his jaw wired shut and the police are asking for the public's help. the victim was knocked

unconscious by a sucker purge to the victim's face as the attacker rummages through his pockets for money. >> a life altering change for the victim. and kids involved in this and mentally they don't understand the consequences behind it or they are disturbed that they are committing acts like this. and the victim remembers little about the attack last tuesday, the suspects followed him for a couple of blocks, police say that the victim was walking from a friends home at 3:00 a.m. >> this guy was just walking down the street. >> surveillance video captured the faces of the attackers that police believe are between the ages of 16 and 19. this suspect is wearing a distinctive light blue san diego chargers jersey. it's unclear if they are responsible for any other violent robberies.

>> they will compare it with robberies in that area to see if there is a connection and link them together. >> central detectives are handling the case and they hope to learn more when they interview the victim later on this week. i'm chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." >> chad thank you. from our delaware newsroom, a 16-year-old boy remains in critical condition this afternoon after he was shot in wilmington late last night. this was the scene along the 1,000 block of clifford brown walk, it's not clear who shot the teen or why. the victim was rushed to dupont hospital for treatment. anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call police. and philadelphia police released new video of two suspects wanted in connection with a home burglary last month. detectives say that the burglars got into a home of north 10th street. investigators say they ransacked a bedroom for anything valuable.

they got away with $200 and a louis vuitton wallet and a belt. a crash happened at 1:00 on west cheltenham avenue. the two car crash was the result of a chase between a boyfriend and girlfriend. both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment. and philadelphia firefighters rescue aid boy from a burning home overnight. it broke out along the 2700 block of north 27th street in winfield. they used a ladder to rescue him and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. an arrest warrant is issued for a 28-year-old woman in newcastle county for her allege said involvement in graffiti. police say that kimberly davis is want ford four counts of misdemeanor graffiti in the

chestnut hill community. others involved in the crime were arrested thanks to tips from the public. two were charged and released on bail. if you know the whereabouts of davis you are asked to call newcastle police. >> now to new developments involving the crash of egypt air flight 804. investigators analyzing the cockpit voice recorder say that they tried to extinguish a fire on board. this is consistent with data that showed heat fire and smoke around a bathroom area. the crash killed all 66 people on board, the pilots made no distress call and no group has claimed to have brought the aircraft down but no theorys including terrorism are being ruled out. lawmakers in washington are back from the 4th of july break and house speaker, paul ryan has a strong message on gun control.

he told house democrated not to expect a vote on their gun measures any time soons. he says it would violate the constitution's right to bear arms and not reward the more than 24 hour sit-in from two weeks ago. the house is expected to debate gop gun proposals next week. and background checks have surged. the fbi conducted 2.1 million background checks in june. compared to 1.5 million in june of last year. the jump is not uncommon in the wake of a mass shooting. they conduct a background check every time someone buys a gun from a licensed dealer. the money continues in florida after toxic green algae closed beaches and marinas there. many residents are wearing masks to avoid the smell. the problem started two weeks

a lot of people are do that by heading to the westbound ben franklin bridge, and now the ben is packed from 8 and and vine. one of the other big issues today of course is the septa regional rails, we have a lot of issues, but one is the septa rails running on an enhanced saturday schedule. we see big delays and overcrowding throughout the day but septa souped up other services like the norristown high speed line and subways and trolleys, if you can use them please do. and big delays in delaware because of a crash on 95 southbound, earlier debris spill on 295 southbound. and a crash on and route 13th rogers road. still to come, nasa says they could hold a major clue into how the universe began.

a lot of heat and humidity, and we are not alone. the jet stream is well up across the northern tier of the country and most of the nation is sweltering the next three days and this air mass moves up the i-95 corridor, especially on thursday and friday. i really think that will be the peak of the heat wave. a heat advisory is posted tomorrow and this means the heat index will be in the upper 90s that is dangerous but it gets worse on thursday and friday, an excessive heat watch for that period of time with a heat index up around 100 degrees, if you are lucky enough to be on the beaches this week, you may want to get in the water, the ocean temperature is 63 degrees, lots of sunshine and the uv index is high and you get a sea breeze. it's going be warm but not as oppressive as inland. the jersey beaches 86 degrees and the delaware beaches 88.
