protesters take to the streets of philadelphia and beyond, calling for change, as vice-president joe biden makes a plea for peace. and plus it is a gray, glummy start to the weekend, in some areas we could see drenching downpours. sky 6hd giving you a live glimpse over the atlantic city, it is glummy and gray. lets get to the exclusive forecast with meteorologist chris sowers who is fresh off of his honeymoon, welcome back, chris. >> thanks very much. >> first time i have been up this earl any sometime. >> got to get used to it. back on the scene. >> it didn't look like a nice beach day in atlantic city. we have clouds, patchy drizzle and some fog in some locations. it is very, very humid. temperatures for the most part in the 70's. it is a very tropical morning. there is view of center city sky line. we cannot pick out sky scrapers here because of the low level clouds. 73 degrees in philadelphia. seventy-four millville. seventy-four wilmington, dover. seventy-seven allentown. what are the benefits with all this cloud cover we will limit the temperatures.

we're not expecting highs in the 90's because of the cloud cover. we will probably hang out in the mid to upper 80's. the nonetheless we will be a oppressively humid day. cold front pushing through western pennsylvania, that will trigger numerous showers and thunderstorms later this after afternoon. not everybody picks these storms up but those that do see storm could produce heavy downpours, lots of lightening, maybe even a good brief gust of wind here. cloud think morning with patchy drizzle. by afternoon peaks of sun and a couple of these thunderstorms start popping up. 1:00 o'clock 85. o'clock 86. by 5:00, 82. we have a forecast of 87. if we fall short of the 90 degrees officially heat wave would come to an end today. here's future tracker six where you can see late this afternoon very light the scattered stuff but then they will pick up intensity as day wears on. when i come back we will focus more on where these storms develop, who sees the heaviest and we will have that exclusive accu weather seven day forecast, gray. >> looking forward to it, thanks very much. it is 9:01.

now we will turn to the latest on the deadly ambush in dallas texas. dallas mayor mike rawlins says his city is safe and time for healing. overnight houston city hall, lit up in blue to pay tribute to the five murdered officers. reporter scott mclean has more from dallas on this investigation and also the continuing protests. >> reporter: protests and vigils spread across america, after a week marred by three tragedies in three cities, many say america is in mourning, hoping to heel the rift between black and blue. >> it starts in the street, willing to confront what is wrong and to make it right. >> reporter: thursday night in dallas, people marched in the peaceful protest of police shootings of two black men in louisiana and minute so the a then shots fired. two civilians and seven officers were wounded while five were killed. michael smith, michael krol, all had more than a decade of the policing experience.

frank thompson was recently married former marine and patrick zamarripa was a navy veteran and father of two. >> since day one he was a hero my little hero, and he will be hero with me, right now. >> reporter: snipper who pull the trigger 25 year-old micah johnson also a veteran, said he wanted to kill white police officers. in search of johnson's suburban home investigators found bomb making materials, rifles, ammunition and journal of combat tactics. president obama is in europe right now for meetings with world leaders. the white house says he will cut that trip short by one day to return to washington and then visit dallas early next week. reporting from dallas i'm scott mclean. >> later black lives matter movement condemned killings of the police officers and violence in general but others are taking an anti police approach. >> we don't get no justice. they don't get no peace.

>> members of the philadelphia coalition for real justice surrounded city hall last night to make their voices heard, they chanted disarm, disban, disempower police while both philadelphia and septa officers looked on. "action news" reporter chad pradelli spoke to organizers and has more. >> there is no such thing as a good cop, in a racist system. >> reporter: calling for revolution, calling police pigs, calling them men and women in blue, occupiers and soluting the dallas snipper. >> i solute that brother. i solute that brother. >> reporter: philadelphia coalition for real justice voiced anger at 22nd and lehigh. >> america did that last night. america did that last night. >> reporter: dozens of police officers stood by, many african americans, none was allowed to talk on camera but many told me they were disappointed by the rhetoric. >> they are not occupiers but men and women trying to keep peace in violent neighborhoods where black men are killing each other in record numbers.

>> this is their neighborhood and we are... unaudible. >> reporter: even more troubling the protest began just a few steps, from where sergeant robert wilson was gun down inside a game stop in 2015. erika mines is one of the organizers of the protest. >> pretty strong words. can you tell me where those word are coming from. >> they are coming from a place of hurt, anger, pain, frustration, and also, i would probably saying spirited as well. >> reporter: protesters marched down north philadelphia to stop occasionally. police slowly followed them. during the stops, police kept a watchful eye above. it is a disturbing reality that commissioner richard ross acknowledged today. >> we respect peoples right to protest but obviously in addition to what we would normally do to protect them we have to take additional measures to protect our officers as well.

>> reporter: i should point out while there were controversial statements made by organizers of that protest last night, they were not the opinion of some, who took part in the march. outside of city hall, chad pradelli for channel six "action news". it the is 9:06. new at 9:00 vice-president joe biden's urging the country to come together in the the wake of the shootingness dallas and killings at the hands of police in missouri and louisiana. >> all of us to stand up, to speak out about the disparities in our criminal justice system just as it is on all of us to stand up for the police who protect our communities every single day. >> the vice-president delivered the weekly white house address. he said that the ambush in dallas touched the souls of the nation and he urged all americans to act with unity and not division. some legal experts say that the bomb carrying robot used to kill micah johnson has opened the door to an ethical debate. use of the robot similar to this one right here appears to be an unprecedented tactic.

couple thunderstorms may fire up later on. 73 degrees is the current temperature reading in philadelphia. trenton checking in at 69. allentown 7o reading 73. lancaster 73 degrees. you can see where numbers have been this week, it is has been oppressive. high temperatures struggled just to reach 80. then here comes the warm front 89 on tuesday. the 95 on wednesday. thursday 94. friday 94. everyone of these days feature feels like temperatures close to the century mark of 100. now we're stuck in the 70's, back door cold front coming in like this. that is why it is cooler up here. is there another cool front out here to the west that will ultimately kick this nasty humidity out to sea and it will feel so much better by tomorrow afternoon. then especially for monday. dew points the way we measure amount of moisture in the air 65 is when we really will start to notice it. seventy oppressive. we will get in the mid 70's, it is awful. dover when we think of the most humid, towns, and cities

across the country, some of the locations come to mind, houston, miami, new orleans. this number is higher then anyone of them. so it is very, very sticky out there. seventy-one in millville. cape may 73. this is rare territory. we don't see dew point that is high. living in dover right now and stepping outside it just feels, awful. disgusting right now. that is cold front that will ultimate liz kick everything out to sea. you can see clearing conditions across the ohio valley and great lakes and states. problem is that whole process will go from very oppressive humidity to dry conditions, tomorrow, and usually triggers showers and storms. like a sponge. that frontal system will ring everything out like that sponge and then the results will be heavy downpours here throughout the afternoon. so 1:30 a couple of showers and thunderstorms mainly west of philadelphia it is hard to say who exactly will see them or who isn't. everybody is fair game after lunch. throughout the afternoon we will see those showers and storms progress along from west to east, across the northern portions of our viewing area. this is 7:00 o'clock a couple

of hit or miss showers or storms. by 10:00 o'clock they are across the delaware river and south jersey then we will get into sunday. sunday everything should clear out nicely with a combination of sun and cloud. what you need to know, scattered thunderstorms, expect throughout the day. starting after lunchtime. some of these will produce very heavy rains. maybe one or 2 inches of rain in a short period of time which could cause flash flooding issues. lots of lightening is expect. some of these could produce gusty wind as high as 45 or 50 . so a gusty thunderstorm is likely at some point after lunch. otherwise, it is humid. mostly cloudy. high of 87 degrees. nice breeze outs of the west southwest at five to 15 miles an hour. hour by hour you can see cloud think morning. maybe some sun this afternoon. very limited. and then thunderstorms expect after lunchtime. for the poconos same drill, mainly cloudy, pop up shower or thunderstorm. some heavy. seventy-six. tomorrow is beautiful. refreshing. highs struggling just to get in the 70's. for the jersey shore today is not the beach day. tomorrow is.

country and right here in philadelphia continue to call for change. abc's kenneth moton joins us live from dallas texas. kenneth, what is the mood like there in texas. >> reporter: well, this is definitely a sit any mourning, gray. i can tell you, that investigators released details on the gunman. he is a disturb man or was a disturb man who they say had a racial hatred for white police officers. now meanwhile protests are getting bigger against alleged police brutality. this morning, more scenes of protests, black lives, coming face-to-face with blue lives. day of demonstrations across the country moved into the night. thousands took to the streets to protest, the police killing of alton sterling in louisiana and philando castille in minute so the a they shut down major roadways. in phoenix police used pepper spray to control the crowd.

overseas trip a day early to visit this city next week, gray. reporting live, this morning kenneth moton for channel six "action news". >> thank you so much for the update. as chaos unfolded there in dallas, texas police department published a picture of the man they deemed a suspect. the trouble with that he was not. mark hughes says he has received thousands of death threat on facebook as a result of this. he was a protester and among those trying to escape the snipper. then he received calls that police posted his picture on twitter calling him a suspending. the hughes and his brother protests, organizers said he was held for an hour and a half. >> we could not understand how we went from protesting and trying to give a voice to people that don't have a voice to being suspects for domestic terrorism. >> not only that, hughes says he wants an apology and his lawyer says a he has not ruled out a lawsuit. here at home a second night of protest against police brutality spanned from north philadelphia, to city

hall. the demonstrators shared a range of messages, some say the dallas officer killings were justified. others condemned all violence, including police murders and killings of alton sterling in louisiana and philano castille in minnesota both at hand of police. more calls to the end of the violence against officers are coming from pennsylvania lawmakers. the legislature's black caucus talk about problem and solutions here in philadelphia "action news" reporter vernon odom was there. >> we are standing firmly against any violent actions occurring in our nation at this time. >> reporter: black cautious -- caucus members planned this news conference before the attack. they were planning to concentrate on the police killings of blank black men in louisiana and minnesota. >> to be clear the recent issues involving the unfortunate deaths of the mr. sterling and castille, are not a new phenomenon. >> it is interesting in the

context where peace is trying to occur, violence can erupt. >> reporter: all who spoke out said they want tougher gun laws in pennsylvania. also stepping forward to discuss those 72 hours of violence, a 27 year philadelphia police veteran who is also representing the local naacp. >> i'm sick and tired of talking. i'm sick and tired of going to meetings. there needs to be action. our justice system is just not working for people that look like me. >> reporter: attorney act wrist michael cord has been a long crusader against police brutality. >> white men kill cops more than black men kill cops. matter of fact, prior to yesterday, 17 police officers have been killed. seventeen. 71 percent of the murders for white men. >> reporter: lots of hard facts, feelings, reflections today, as america, is once again, in shock. in north philadelphia, i'm

we are lock in with the cloud, once warm front pushes through we will get in the warm sector. is there the cold front. cold front will push into that warm sector and will fire off those showers and then are storms. with the front approach downpours likely for some later this afternoon. then we will get into sunday. that frontal system kicks humidity out to sea. it will be warm but it will feel better, very refreshing as we get into sunday afternoon and monday with dew point dropping down into the 50's. right now we are in the low to mid 70's. huge change in the air mass. this future tracker six anytime after lunch just about everybody is fair game for a shower or storm and at one of those thunderstorms develop in your neighborhood expect brief but very heavy downpours, lots of cloud to ground lightening strikes. this activity will shut off once we lose heating from the sun. won sunsets this will dissipate and then we will get into sunday and it is just clouds and sun. we're not anticipating too much in the way of severe weather but storm prediction center suggests one or two storms north of philadelphia,
