headquarters yesterday. bullets hit that building but did not injure any officers. this followed another scare for dallas police. amid wave of the nationwide protest begins and in favor of police, president obama is cutting short his overseas trip. >> abc's kenneth moton is in dallas with more on the president's comment and that new scare for dallas police, kenneth. >> good morning, nydia and gray. in dallas tense moments in the city already on edge. police gave all clear after responding to a potential threat here at the department. it all happened feet away from where so many are coming to pay their respects to the fallen officers. >> black lives. >> matter. >> reporter: this morning a nation in tur molly... demonstrationness minnesota against alleged police brutality turned violent as protesters clashed with police. officers in riot gear moved in with smoke bombs. some were injured by roxanne firecrackers.

police across the country worked to keep the peace after the recent police killings of philano castille anal ton sterling, were killed by police officers. >> too many african-american males, their lives are being taken away from them and this has to stop. >> reporter: in dallas police surrounded their own headquarters after a reports of the suspicious person in their garage. swat teams and sharp shooters were on the scene but a sweep turn up nothing. the scare, recently took away from the incredible scene outside the department. two barely visible patrol cars served as a grim reminder of the five dallas police officers killed when investigators say snipper micah johnson went on a rampage fueled by racism. >> he is no more representative of african americans then the shooter in charleston was representative of white americans. >> reporter: this morning we're learning investigators believed dallas gunman had a bigger plot to kill white officers, but the former army

reservists moved up his plan using black lives matter protest as an opportunity to attack. reporting from dallas, kenneth moton for channel six "action news". investigators are learning more about that killer, micah johnson, they say he practiced military style drills in his yard and trained at a private self-defense school about two years ago that teaches special tactics including shooting on the move. we have learned that johnson was a private first class in the army with a specialty in carpetry, and masonry. he did one tour in afghanistan from november 2013 through july 2014. here in philadelphia the recent police involved shootings across the u.s. have prompted some protesters to vocal ice criticism of local police. but there were demonstrators who voiced support for law enforcement. "action news" reporter janet reyes spoke to both side. >> reporter: the signs, the voice of anger and words for police officers. >> these kid in the 24th and

priorities usa action is responsible new this morning, a wild fire, in border county, colorado has forced hundreds of evacuations as flames and smoke punch their way through the woods yesterday afternoon. the resident quickly packed up what they could fit in their vehicles and fled to the high school. they hoped winds would change direction and spare their home. so far almost 300 acres have been scorched, two structures destroyed. one hundred fire fighters are battling the blaze. at least two people are dead and 17 others missing from flood waters from china caused by typhoon nepartak, although it has weakened to a strong tropical storm it has forced evacuation of the more than 420,000 residents.

while city and nation cope with the unspeakable loss of five police officers the investigation into the snipper who killed them is ongoing. >> we will turn to reporter scott mclean live for news dallas, texas. what is the mood like there in dallas and how has that community been reacting. >> reporter: nydia and gray, good morning. this area in front of the police headquarters here in dallas is absolutely packed with people. i will step out of the way and show you scene here. there are two police cars, one dallas police car one is a transit vehicle and those agencies both lost people. they have absolutely been buried in cars and flowers and momentoes and candles, as well. you know, you will get the sense that the shock of this has worn off and now just sadness, i spoke to one gentlemen who his father was a fire fighter was also killed in the line of duty some years ago. obviously he feels he saw a connection to this but others have no connection at all.

they just wanted to come and pay their respects. police, they are obviously appreciative. they have been getting thanks, hugs but they are also on high alert and for good reason. yesterday there was an incident a report of the suspicious person inside of a police parking garage here. police actually went through and checked that truck here. they check their own building as well. they went back through again with the k-9 unit. they did not find any suspicious person or any suspicious thing. thankfully in that case it was a hoax but you can imagine how these officers are feeling after what took place thursday night. >> sure. >> there are reports of the disturbing incident outside a home belong to go one of those murdered police officers, what have you learned about that. >> reporter: yes, this we found out not long ago. there was an incident involving a dallas police vehicle stationed outside of the home of one of those fallen officers, and what we know is that vehicle was hit

by another one. that is under investigation right now to figure out who that other vehicle belongs to and why they might have done this but obviously plenty of questions there. it comes as police are on high alert across the country. there was another incident in san antonio where someone actually fired shots at police headquarters there late last night. they investigated. they found a person running from the scene. they found a suspicious vehicle. they brought in the bomb squad to look at that vehicle. it belonged to one of the employees. the again they are investigate to go find out who that was and what their motivation might have been. >> scott mclean live for us on the ground in dallas, texas, thank you. in our area and beyond some people are unite to go show support for dallas police department. in new jersey pemberton police hosted a prayer vigil. community wanted to rally around pemberton police department while remembering five police officers killed by that snipper in dallas.

your time 7:34. police are searching for person who shot and killed a man saturday afternoon in pittsgrove, and kidnaped victim's young son. this all started 4:00 p.m. near broad and church street where police say a 24 year-old man was shot multiple times. they say the suspect then drove off in the victim's car with the victims one year-old son inside. that car was found abandoned a short time later at fifth and wood street and that child was inside, and report he was not hurt. we new know about the security plans for the democratic national convention in philadelphia. it is different from the plan that was in place during the visit by pope francis. sarah bloomquist explains what you need to know. >> reporter: the democrats are coming to the wells fargo center and the protesters will join them right across the street in fdr park. all of the traffic restrictions are centered in this area in south philadelphia unlike papal visit do you remember that traffic box? nothing like that for dnc but it is also a national special

security event. >> you cannot compare obviously the papal visit to the dnc. it is much more confined area. >> we're hoping everyone stays. the businesses stay open. we show a national audience how great philadelphia is. >> reporter: dnc runs from jewel 25th to the 28th, traffic restrictions start taking effect saturday before. it will be confine generally in the area between packer avenue and naval yard. those with proper prudentials will get in the wells fargo vicinity after going through security. protesters will be direct to fdr park. >> it is in close proximity to the delegates. buses will drive right by them. they will be seen and heard. that was very important as we select fdr. >> reporter: philadelphia police made it clear they have dealt with many protests before, take last night as an example, the commissioner said for the dnc the response will be fluid. >> we are going to respect the constitution and everyone's right to protest and i think the city and police department

as well as other entities have done a good job at demonstrating that. trying to convey that to everyone involved. that is what we will continue to do. >> reporter: unlike papal visit all major highways will remain opened to pass eveninger vehicles. there will be restrictions for commercial vehicles on i-95. the exit ramps from broad street, from i-95 to broad street will remain closed for the duration of the dnc. you can find all this information including a list of restricted items, get a better look at that traffic map by logging on to 6b avenue . some people who plan are prepared by going through training right here in philadelphia, arch street united methodist church. members of the clergy and civil rights activist teamed up for that training. goal to make sure they understand the rights of people, to help keep them safe. those who showed up took part in the role playing exercises.

and in light of the recent killings by police officers, protesters will designate certain people to act as show called, cop watchers. they are responsible for recording officers responding to protests, and many say they are confident that philadelphia police department is prepared. >> i think the police here are awesome, and they have improved with community relations, a lot over the past few years but that doesn't hurt to be prepared. >> organizers also discussed what to expect if you are arrested and have been posting bail. more sessions are scheduled in the coming weeks. later it is inside story. panel will look at whether philadelphia is prepared for protests, and one offers five reasons why philadelphia is not ready. inside story coming your way at 11:30 right before "action news" at noon. bernie sanders has in the yet endorsed hillary clinton as he continues to push for changes in the democratic party's platform.

during a policy meeting yesterday, sanders won concessions on climate change, but failed to get group to oppose the transpacific partnership trade deal. aids to clinton and sanders say newly amended platform draft is most progress any of party history. it includes many sanders priorities including a $15 federal minimum wage, steps to break up large wall street banks and call to end the death penalty. there are reports that sanders may endorse clinton on tuesday. there are reports that donald trump has added a life long democrat to his list of possible vice-presidential candidates. that person on trump's list is retired lieutenant general michael flynn. flynn once headed up defense intelligence agency, and advised trump on foreign policy during the primary. the 57 year-old did not deny he would go through that vetting process. trump has hinted before people with military backgrounds were under consideration as his running mate. is a comfortable, dry breeze. that will be working its way in here. all right. lets get you updated on where we stand with those 90-degree days. we have been showing this over last couple of weeks here on average, city of philadelphia picks up 24 days where we hit 90 degrees or higher. predictions this summer was for 32 of them, so far we're at 11 but after this next heat wave which begins tuesday once that one is over this number will be close to 20. so, we have quite a bit of heat heading this way here in the extended seven day forecast. reading 69. allentown 65. trenton 68. philadelphia 71. nice and comfortable low humidity. millville 69. still humid down the new jersey shore but that dry air is working its way in down there as well. the satellite six with action radar, we had two bands of showers and storms develop yesterday. this was with the actual cold front itself. then we had this 1lone cell developed over new castle county and skirted delaware bay over salem, cumberland, cape may county and that

produced damage. so did this one right here. this is at 10:00 o'clock yesterday evening. you can see this little what appears to be a little bow here that went right through trenton, princeton and east and west win or and produced wind damage. wind exceeded 65 miles an hour. this is what it did, to some locationness cumberland county this was sent from charlean in bridgeton this was a separate cell but we have had wind over 60 miles an hour. look at the size of this that went right in the tree here. some locations actually had violent weather for a brief period of time yesterday but now that dryer air, you can see it on the water vapor shot that dryer air there canada starting to work it way in here and it has cleared all that humidity out and feels like a breath of fresh air right now. it is short lived. heat wave number three actually begins tuesday. this could be potentially the longest so far this year. hottest weather will occur on thursday and friday. we will catch a break on saturday, and then sunday and monday the following monday are hot as well.
