"action news", delaware valley's leading news program. good afternoon, it is sunday july 10th i'm nydia han with gray hall. here's some of the stories we are following on "action news". tensions continue to escalate across the nation, as protesters take to the streets, after two deadly police involved shootings.

amid that decision signs of unity, local police officers and church members are coming together to pray for peace. we are live. plus, septa is set to release new schedule to help ease delays and overcrowding on the regional rails. but first the exclusive accu weather forecast with meteorologist chris sowers. outside we will go, beautiful out there is that right chris. >> good afternoon, guys. it feels like new england out here right now. humidity levels dropped off a bit. temperatures are still heading steady in the upper p-7 on's. we have a nice breeze. lets look the at numbers in the delaware and lehigh valley. we are at 79 in philadelphia. seven's north and west, allentown, reading both showing 77. lower 80's south and east. millville, wilmington atlantic the i showing 80 or 81. cape may 79. dover 79 degrees. cold front swept through last night, wind shifted out of the northwest, air dried out and with the breeze it feels comfortable. general wind are from ten to 15 miles an hour. they will continue throughout the afternoon, occasionally

seeing gusts as high as 20 miles an hour. with the cooler air mixing in aloft we are starting to see cloud cover, as anticipated. north and west of the city here. satellite six with action radar, new jersey shore, crystal clear, and interior sections of south jersey for the most part cleared but we are picking up a little bit of cloud cover in the lehigh valley and far western suburbs. so forecast for remaining of the afternoon looking good. less humid, breezy, look for a combination of sun and cloud and high temperatures somewhere between 84 and 85 degrees. so very nice, pleasant end to the weekend. and another heat wave is on the way as we look at that accu weather seven day forecast. we could see five or six days of 90 plus degree heat. i'll come back with the details in the accu weather forecast, guys. >> chris, thank you. now to growing protests taking place here, and all across the nation. in minnesota, dozens of people were arrested and several officers were hurt when protesters blocked a major interstate.

by those fatal shootings of black men by police in 24 hours. on tuesday night that close-up killing caught on camera, alton sterling losing his life, on a wednesday. >> philano castille shot in the driver's seat of his car in minnesota after two cops pulled him over. his fiance live streaming aftermath on facebook. >> the officer just shot him in his arm. >> reporter: this morning the attorney for the officer at the center of the minnesota shooting is saying this heart breaking incident had nothing to do with race but it had to do with the presence of the gun. >> he is licensed to carry. he was trying get out his id and wallet out of his pocket. >> that was abc's eva pilgrim reporting. protesters continue to make their voices heard here in philadelphia. overnight dozens on have people took to the streets, in hunting park and kensington calling for justice as police looked on. earlier yesterday the group philly coalition for real justice rallied and marched

philadelphia police officers responding to a disturbance this morning, and ended up in the middle of the gun battle will. action cam was at the scene in the 4800 block of rising sun avenue. that is where around 5:45 a.m. police came upon two men firing at each other. the suspects, bolted when they saw police. two officers got out of the patrol car and ran after the suspect. one man was arrested, the other got away. police say they have recover both guns. in delaware county gun violence claims the life of the man and left his sister injured. shots rang out in the 600 block of concord street in chester last night. police say siblings were shot several times. man died at the scene. his sister was rushed to crozer-chester medical center in critical condition. police have in the released the victim's names or ages. there is no quick way to fix a defects that forced 120 septa trains out of service but agency says that help is on the way, and septa is leasing trains from other transit authorities which will add 1700 seats, as early as

sea port museum has a new permanent exhibition that celebrates the cities great naval history. >> karen rodgers has more on this weeks six abc loves the arts. >> reporter: it is called patriots and pirates and it explores philadelphia's connections to the founding of the united states navy, and a little told story about america's conflict was pirates. exhibit is divided in three parts and has 50 objects that have rarely been seen by the public. >> the first sexist about our ships being pirated by the algerians. we have beautiful model of an algerian pirate ship. we have some pistols that they would have used. >> reporter: as well as original letter the kidnaped sailor's wrote to congress in 1793, imploring the government to intervene and help secure their release. at the time, there was no u.s. navy. >> the second sexist congress debating whether we should have a navy or not.

this midday hour in the poconos. philadelphia is 79. millville 81. atlantic city at the airport showing 80. we have the slightest touch of humidity down here across south jersey and delaware. dew points in the lower 60's. but when we get into the city and areas north and west. this is pretty nice and comfortable. dew points hanging out in the upper 50's, lower 60's. the that is dryer air, continuing to bleed in from the northwest on back side of this upper level low pushing through new england this afternoon. that is why we're seeing increase in cloud cover north and west of the city, it is expect, and it will thin out, as the day wears on. so for new jersey shore we're going mostly sunny skies for the rest of the afternoon, everybody else a combination of the sun and clouds. much better and breezy out there. there is yesterday's cold front, it is out to sea at this point. high pressure holds on for one more day, tomorrow another nice one but then this warm front will actually sneak through here at some point during the day on tuesday and then you'll immediately notice when this front comes through. it will be like opening up the

door to a completely different air mass, heat and humidity building again. should get in here at some point tuesday and from that point on it will feel like, well, like florida, with high dew points and temperatures, closing in on 90 degrees. ninety-four, 95. these will continue to drop off throughout the day. ever night tonight, nice and comfortable. tomorrow is another refreshing day. still warms. highs in the mid 80's with low dew point is it should feel nice. then we will get into monday and tuesday. here comes the warm front. these dew points back in the upper 60's, lower 70's. very tropical air mass again. those numbers will continue to increase as we progress along through the workweek. the comfortable now. very uncomfortable by week's even. sun and clouds today, breezy, less humid. 85 degrees is the forecasted high and then mainly clear overnight tonight. very pleasant. you will be able to open up those windows, turn off air conditioning. 58 degrees. outlying suburbs with no humidity. that will feel great. sixty-seven in center city.

his trip to spain short to visit dallas in the wake of that tragedy. plus relief is in sight for septa riders, agency plans to add hundreds of extra rail seats starting tomorrow. more in a moment but first outside we will go to check the accu weather forecast and meteorologist chris sowers. how is it feeling, chris. >> feels nice. speaking of relief, right, the humidity has really dropped off behind the cold front that swept through here yesterday and producing severe weather in the area. this is the pays off. we have a combination of sun and cloud here on city avenue but with temperatures study in the 70es a and no humidity it feels fantastic. we are going live down in cape may, notice everybody is looking over the water because our dolphin friend have been putting on a show. there is one right there. they have been putting on quite a show here over the last say 15 minutes, look the at them all, just bobbing in and out of the the water, one actually jumped high where i saw the entire dolphin come out of the water just about a minor so ago.

it is neat to see. that we have been seeing this all morning long. the it is beautiful on the sand. temperatures are right now in the 70's with low humidity levels and a nice enjoyable land breeze. here we go 81 in avalon. eighty-two ocean city, margate 82. cape may 79 degrees. again, due points are down in the low to mid 60's. the it feels better. seventy-nine in philadelphia. seventy-seven for reading and allentown and poconos we're still stuck in the 60's. for the remainder of the afternoon 85 degrees in the city. look for a combination of the sun and clouds and nice gentle breeze out of the northwest. new jersey shore it is more sun then cloud, breeze which a high of 84. if you are down the shore here's what you can expect rest of the way, ocean temperatures in the lower 70's, waves two to 4 feet, nice land breeze out of the west ten to 20 miles an hour and a low risk for rip currents. keep in mind that doesn't mean rip currents just can't happen but it means right now risk is low. still pay close attention to the life guard but it has been a enjoyable finish to the weekend, thus far, and afternoon looks good, but the

week of police killings, or of one in st. paul and one in baton rouge where protesters faced off with an army of police officers. >> too many african-american males their lives are being taken away from them, and this has to stop. >> reporter: in dallas police surrounded their own headquarters after reports of the suspicious person in their garage. swat teams and sharp shooters were on the scene but a sweep turned up nothing. this scare briefly took away from the incredible scene outside the department, two barely visible patrol car serve as a grim reminder of the five dallas police officers killed when investigators say micah johnson went on a rampage fueled by racism. dallas police chief david brown told cnn that johnson was planning a much large's tack then the one carried out on thursday. >> we believe that the deaths in minnesota and louisiana just sparked his delusion, fast track his plan and saw protest in dallas as an

here this morning. church officials here wanted to do something to fight the fear, that they say, is causing racial tension, and violence across the country. the pastor says reaching out to the cheltenham police department after the deadly shootings and protests that followed seems like the natural thing to do. church members say they would like to see more positive interactions between officers and the community especially to show young people the human side of police officers. we also spoke with the retired police officer hopeful that continued efforts, will make a difference. >> this will take a church, it will take the community, it will take the police officers and greatest thing of all it will take love. love will conquer hate every time. >> sometimes it is really hard to serve people when you don't feel that you are appreciated by them. so as a nation we need to make sure that our police officers really know that we care about

them. >> reporter: churches around the area were praying for the victims of last week shootings and their families as well as philadelphia police captain attended a similar unity services in the overbrook section this morning. live from elkins park trish hartman for channel six "action news". >> trish, thank you. septa is expected to release a new interim schedule today trying to manage the commute after the removal of 120 regional railcars. the agency says that it expects to be able to add 1700 seats to relieve overcrowding, beginning tomorrow. at least these leased train from new jersey, maryland and amtrak. 120 silver liner five railcars were removed from services last week even after potentially dangerous defects were discovered. the pennsylvania house of representatives is set to return to session this afternoon in an effort to reach a deal on the state budget. the deadline to reach a compromise on how to pay for $31.5 billion spending plan is midnight tomorrow. governor tom wolf could sign parts of the proposal or veto it all together. budget negotiators are looking

for options for funding the budget. they include expanding casino style gambling and increasing taxes on cigarettes. we are about a week away from the republican national convention, the gathering in cleveland, ohio is expected to make donald trump the g.o.p. candidate for president. his running mate is still a mystery. there are reports that trump is vetting a possible vice-presidential candidate, who is both a life long democrat and a retired general, michael flynn, who is interviewed this morning on abc's this week, flynn wants headed up defense intelligence agency and advised trump on foreign policy during the primary. the 57 year-old did not deny he was going through the vetting process, trump has hinted before that people with military background were under consideration as his running mate. turning now to the democrats, yesterday bernie sanders had a mixed day in his effort to change some plans in the democratic party platform. he won concessions from hillary clinton supporters on climate change but he failed to get clinton group to oppose
