valley's leading news program with jim gardner. wednesday night, the big story is the following request -- please be careful over the next two days. the area is going to be under an excessive heat warning. for certain segments of the population, it could be a dangerous time. meteorologist cecily tynan is live at the big board with some daunting facts and figures from accuweather. cecily? >> fotomorrow is going to be a tough day for a lot of people, especially if you are sensitive to heat and humidity. an excessive heat warning goes into effect at noon tomorrow for really all areas within 25 miles of i95. this is where the heat index will be climbing above 100. and outlying suburbs it is not going to feel much better. that's where a heat advisory has been posted for tomorrow and actually needs to continue through friday. the rain that moves through today just added moisture to the air. so the dewpoint, it is like a rain forest out there. we have dewpoints in the lower to mid 70s. so that's oppressive humidity levels. temperatures in the 70s right

now of the problem with tomorrow is that we keep these dewpoints, and then we add the heat. so the expected heat index, the way it feels for much of our viewing area, in the danger zone. 100 to 105. even along the coast and the lehigh valley and the poconos it will feel like 95 to 100. and we don't just have one day of this, we really have two days of it. the air temperature thursday and friday, mid 90s. the heat indices above 100. i'll let you know when we do get some relief from the heat in the full accuweather forecast, jim. >> thank you, cecily. a driver bailed out of his car on foot tonight during a traffic stop on the schuylkill expressway. and the chase was on. troopers tracked him from the westbound lanes of the highway near spring garden through the grounds around 30th street station where he was caught after 8:00. the state police say they don't know why he ran. they were only pulling him over

for an expired vehicle registration. now the suspect will face criminal trespassing charges at a minimum. an active crime scene on the street where two men were shot two hours ago. the new castle county police are searching for evidence at green tree road and the victims they say drove themselves to the hospital. we have new details on the head-on crash that shutdown martin luther king drive during rush hour. a 33-year-old woman in critical condition. and two other adults and children injured are improving now in stable condition. accident investigators have not determined yet who or what is to blame for the cars colliding near the strawberry mansion bridge near 5:00. taxes going up in pennsylvania to balance this year's budget. governor tom wolf signed the deal tonight that is expected to bring in $1.3 billion.

cigarette taxes rising by $1 to $2.60 a back. and smokeless tobacco starting to be taxed and taxes going up on ecigarettes as well. and ebooks and apps now charged the sales tax. and the natural gas production will not be taxed contrary to what governor wolf wanted. the budget plan expects $100 million from a gambling expansion for airports and internet betting, although it has stalled in harrisburg. [bagpipes playing] >> there were tributes and tears today at the funerals for three police officers who were among the five gunned down in dallas last week. 43-year-old brett thompson leaves behind two sons and daughter, one say good-bye.

[horns honking] >> many here believe the country is being torn apart by factions of groups with opposing and even bitter sentiments. >>the only way is if we unite matter. it is not blue lives matter, black lives matter, all lives matter and we need to unite and come together. >> and division deep between those who make the argument. >> they argue if we say blue lives matter we are being divisive.

the bridge united in support for the explain police officers in dallas. and looking at sky 6 hd now with attribute to the fallen will continue through sunday, the bridge will then switch to red, white and blue to welcome the democratic national convention. donald trump said tonight he will announce who his runningmate will be at 11:00 a.m. friday. but he made it seem like he is still making up his mind today. trump and adult children joined mike pence for breakfast at the governor's residence in indianapolis. and hours after that newt gingrich seen at trump's downtown hotel in indianapolis. it seems the choice between pence, gingrich and chris christie. the buzz is that trump's family and advisors are leaning towards pence, but trump may want more teeth in the attack dog. but we'll see friday, maybe it will be someone else.

left the region. so the action cam looking at penn's landing where the river rink is busy for roller skaters tonight. a warm and muggy night. part of the reason it is so humid out there, still a lot of moisture in the air from the downpours earlier today. not everyone got them, but those who did got some heavy hitters. west lancaster reporting close to four inches of rain. caused localized flooding. warminster, bucks county 3 1/4. and townsend close 2 inches. and northeast philadelphia close to an inch of rain. the air is saturated with moisture. dewpoints in the low to mid 70s. air temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. pretty close to saturated. allentown 75, philadelphia 77, cape may 75, and trenton currently 74 degrees. satellite 6, along with action radar, showing the downpours that blew up this afternoon have left.

we have just some high, thin clouds around. and tomorrow we likely will start the day with a good amount of cloud cover, maybe even a spotty shower along the coast. and then we break out to sunshine midday. and piece of energy late in the afternoon, along with heat and humidity, could fire up broken line of heavy downpours. not everyone will see them. they will be scattered, but they can have brief, torrential rain. and i think a lot of people will be at pools tomorrow. as soon as you hear thunder, get out of the poor. lightning can strike about 10 miles ahead of a storm system. that's part of the danger tomorrow. but the bigger danger is the heat index. the feature at "action news" is the heat index tracker. feeling like 92 at 10:00 in the morning. by 2:00 it will feel like 102. even by 6:00, still feeling like 100 degrees.

so it really doesn't cool off much in the evening hours. it will be better down the shore, especially at the new jersey beaches. with the wind generally out of the south-southwest off the ocean, the ocean temperature 76. the jersey beaches will be in the mid 80s. the delaware beaches though, that's going to be more of a land breeze, so it's going to be hotter there with temperatures in the low 90s. so the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, 95 degrees tomorrow, but the heat index 100 to 105. late-day thunderstorms friday. again, dangerous heat, 95. the heat index around 100. saturday, likely 90 degrees. officially making this heat wave number three. and it looks like sunday will stay rain-free. because of that, we should hold in the 90s again. 91 degrees. monday 92 with some thunderstorms. could be five days of temperatures in the 90s before temperatures drop down into the upper 80s. so i know i stress this a lot, but if you know anyone elderly
