and so m ldren who are hurt or killed in this sickening attack. >> reporter: the world responding with silence and reflection: french authorities were not watching the suspect for any connection to terrorism prior to the attack but arguably he should have been in prison. he w to six months for assault back in january but received a suspended

we're in the middle of it and it's one thing to see things on television and another thing to be right there. >> reporter: but both faced a phone call with hashtags for prayers and the images are becoming an increasingly common occurrence. >> i know it's going to happen again probably because it's -- for them it's getting easier and easier. >> i don't know why they're hitting france all the time. >> reporter: the two had plans to visit franks at the end of this month and that's not changing. >> you know, you can't just stop. i'm not going to not go to france because of that. >> reporter: and there is a vigil set for tomorrow, organized by several large organizations in the french communities. people tell me the french here tell me that they are mourning with their country. reporting live in fairmount, jeanette reyes, channel6 "action news." sharrie. >> okay, jeanette, thank you. and our coverage of the attack continues on 6abc.com with more on the investigation. reaction from experts here and around the world and a slideshow as the world remembers and honors the victims. >> the attack in france prompted donald trump to postpone the press conference at which he planned to announce his vp pick. instead the presumptive republican nominee tweeted that he shows an indiana governor mike pence to be his running mate. this is video of pens arriving at trump towers today. abc news reports that trump was so angered by the leaked reports of pence yesterday that he momentarily considered changing his mind apparently made phone calls until midnight last night asking if he could change his mind. ultimately he did not. the two will appear at a joint news conference tomorrow morning. the city of cleveland is getting ready for the candidates and the delegates to flood that city for next week's republican national convention. "action news"'s sarah bloomquist is already there and says security is very tight. >> reporter: we're here outside quicken loans arena in the heart of downtown cleveland. they have been working for weeks months getting this place ready for the republicans. you can see as well that there are barricades ready to go here, ready to line the streets. they have more fencing ready to go up as well along the streets here in downtown cleveland. in light of the recent events they are working to make this place as safe as possible. we talked to someone with the convention today.

it breaks any time soon with that accuweather forecast. alicia. >> melissa thank you. neighbors and business owners in one part of manayunk have been dealing with an absolute mess all day. a water main broke this morning leaving some people with too much water, others without any service at all. and a usually busy street kicked in mud. "action news" reporter vernon odom live on main street with more on the problems and the repairs and just a big old mess there, vernon. >> reporter: it was alicia, good afternoon. two blocks of main street here in manayunk remain pretty much shut down at this hour. merchants here however are hailing the city workers for doing major repairs under the sidewalk here to get businesses up and running once again. water department repairmen attack the 8-inch main break that broke at 4:30 this morning triggering havoc in the 43 and 4400 blocks of main street. knocking out service on the east side. big trouble for the owner of a popular restaurant and adjoining wine bar. flooding his entire inventory which was being refrigerated in a basement and it appears he now has structural damage

to his building as well. >> the restaurant business has got a lot of moving parts. it's usually always on friday. >> reporter: which is a busy day. >> busy dayism kicking off the weekend. >> yeah. >> reporter: this upstairs tenant woke up this morning to see the mess outside with police knocking on her door to tell her she had to evacuate right away. >> the owner's basement flooded. they're saying we have to go up there and get our stuff at some point so not ideal but happy friday. >> reporter:ater was still running on the west side but there was some flooding to some of manayunk's most enduring restaurants like the legendary cafe zesty that has its own water pumps but he got damage and was shut down for the day as well no wayck off the weekend. >> i'm not going to be able to open today. i have some water damage. hopefully by tomorrow i will be ready for business. >> we took a hit today and -- but, you know, we're in

traffic moving along. another accident pennsylvania turnpike extension southbound at lansdale. you can see a long line of red there. we have an accident that was taking out both lanes. one lane getting by right now. northbound lanes getting up to the poconos not looking too bad. y expressway all those individuals heading down to the shore about a 15 minute delay from 295 down to the atlantic city expressway. you'll really see a slow down from the atlantic city airport up to the garden state parkway. and past the new jersey

for financial help. and while she won't be getting out of jail any time soon a bucks county judge did agree today to reduce her bail. it's now been lowered from a million dollars to 10 percent of $250,000. stoltzfus and her husband daniel are charged with endangering the welfare of a child their own child. meals say the bucks county couple gifted their then 14-year-old daughter to that man right there, 51-year-old lee kaplan in exchange for helping their family out of financial ruin after a falling out with the amish church but her attorney denies that calling the police allegations against her false. her lawyer alsos they plan to push for even lower bail saying it's still too high. >> a quarter of a million dollars for a person with no past criminal record is -- is a very high bail. but we're respectful of the facts of the case and the fact that we have to pay deference to the seriousness of the

offense. >> the stoltzfus'ghter by the way is now 18 years old. she has two children by kaplan. 12 girls in total were removed from his feasterville home last month. kaplan and her husband daniel stoltzfus are also still behind bars. liminary hearing for all three has been set for august 2nd in district court in feasterville. brian. >> all right, alicia, thank you. a truck driver was crushed and killed by the cargo he was carrying today in montgomery county. chopper six was over light cap road where all this happened just before 8 o'clock this morning. police say the 62-year-old driver from texas arrived before business hours opened to delivery pvc pipes. he tried to unload the truck himself but those pipes apparently fell on top of him. he died at the scene and workers found him when they showed up for work that day. police have not told us his >> tuition is going up at

also for areas south and east so as we go throughout the day and the temperature by then coming in at 91 degrees. so, something to keep in mind as we go throughout our weekend. the dewpoints over the next four days, it's not so bad on saturday, on the lower scale, 63 degrees dewpoints, 66 on sunday so we get a brief break over the weekend but then that oppressive humidity comes back once again as we get into saturday and sunday so we're stuck in the soup and a bit of an unsettled pattern across our region as far as the heat and the humidity is concerned. so, we've got you covered. the weekend kickoff looks like this. amorrow a high of 85, sunshine and clouds, certainly a little better in comparison to the city. high of 91. hot and partly sunny and warm and rather comfortable up in the poconos, a high temperature in at 81. here's your four day at 4:00.

until 8 o'clock tonight guys. it's just for that i-95metr. it looks like it stays sticky as we head into our weekend. ou, we'll show you the picture. sky6 live in hd from our temple university camera looking at center city. you can see william penn there and city hall, a bit of a hazy sky at this hour. the temperature, it's a hot one at 92, the dewpoint isn't so bad and at 61 degrees so it feels like 92 in the city and comparison to locations at the coast it feels much hotter. if you're out at citizens bank park, the phils at home taking on the mets. first pitch around 7:05. that temperature 91 degrees and once we get into the ninth inning we're down to 85 degrees. it's partly cloudy and yes we have a touch of humidity in the air. so, we'll talk about what we can expect if you're heading down the coast today and really over the weekend. water temperatures are quite warm. 74 at the coast in atlantic city. 76 in llewes beach in delaware and 80 well to the south and east so pretty comfortable. that might be a good spot to

"action news"'s gray hall is live in hatboro montgomery county where roofers have been busy all day and gray, you had a chance to talk with them. >> reporter: indeed i did sharrie as you know for some people the work never stops. the roofers here tell me for a job like this it will take about two days or so, they say if you have a job on the inside, be thankful because if your office is on the outside, thering the heat. if you thought your job was tough, try roofing in extreme heat. >> this is probably one of the toughest jobs. road work maybe and, you know, being up there, you have no shade, it's all sun and it's just beating down on you. >> reporter: these workers with c and c family roofing and say when the heat is on they are on the job.

workers have been overcome by the heat and have had to stop working. this week the heat index has made it fee100 degrees outside n a roof, the temperature gets much hotter. >> we had a gun one time and we shot, you know, the temperature of the roof, we had a temperature gun, and it was over 150 degrees up there with the shingles and the black tar and it being so close to the sun. >> reporter: they admit the heat is relenderless and they are no match for the sun's aggressive warmth but it is what they do and they learn to cope with it. >> unless it's snowing or raining we can't do it we would tarp the roof. but the heat you know, we're out there. >> reporter: never too hot. >> never too hot, never too cold. >> reporter: never too hot, never too cold, the work continues outside of those water breaks and a cold towel around their face or neck, the workers also tell me they're grateful for any cloud cover they may get and any amount of breeze and of course they'll be watching the forecast over th ral days or so

>> now, officials say they'll have to custom order a new windshield because it's an older vehicle. the estimate is just about $1,000. but there are two bits of good news here. first and foremost no one was hurt and the fire they were responding to turned out to be a minor incident caused by wilmington fire department rescued a man from the christiana river this morning at 10:30 officials say the man's rowboat capsized near harry's savoy grille along the wilmington riverfront. he was able to call for help before the boat took on water. 18 fire officials responded and brought that plan to man to safety. >> tim mcclanahan is being honored this weekend in dover way light display at the state capitol. mcclanahan was killed when he fell from a helicopter during a training exercise monday in georgetown. he's a standout football player in the nationalball leags weekend he's back in his hometown of philadelphia to make a positive difference.

sharrif floyd of the minnesota vikings stopped by the 6abc studios this afterno tonight he's hosting a charity auction raising funds for the children of fallen police officer and sergeant of course robert wilson, iii. officer wilson was killed in the line of duty during a shootout at a game store back in 2015 while buying a game for his son's birthday. well, floyd who is a george washington high school graduate from north philadelphia is teaming up with the philadelphia fraternal order of police to make sure wilson and his family are not forgotten. >> to give back to the kids, you know, they lost their father. i know what it's like not to have a father and being that single parent home and they just got hit so surprisingly with it and they mourning and things like that. i just felt like they needed something positive in their lives. >> well, tonight's auction and meet and greet starts at 7 o'clock at chickie's and pete's in south philadelphia on packer avenue. he's also hosting a camp, a football camp in the community tomorrow. >> a wonderful and worthy effort there. the democratic national convention a little more than a week away now and while security is always a top concern, last night's attack in france has of course brought it once again to the forefront. cape may. 80 in the poconos. you factor in the heat and the humidity it ceels much hotter in certain locations. we've got higher dewpoint temperatures at the coast so it's actually hotter here in comparison to inland locations feeling like just 81 in the poconos. compare that to 101 in cape may. we've got a heat index at this hour in beach haven and ac coming in in the upper 90's. here is satellite six along with action radar. we've got sunshine a mixture of clouds across the region. we're tracking some energy off to our south that will work its way into our region as we go throughout the start of our weekend. so the call from accuweather tonight a few patchy clouds moderately humid dropping down to 66 in the suburbs and 74 degrees in philadelphia for the overnight low with that west to southwesterly wind. here's the setup for us on our saturday. it's partly sunny. we've got this frontal boundary kind of hung up across our region so the high tomorrow 91 degrees. we're tracking that moisture that comes in. you can see as we go throughout the afternoon hours on saturday we've got a pop-up shower or storm. on sunday it stays hot and noticeably more humid.
