it has been a tumultuous night in turkey, one of america's most important allies. a facts on in the military staged a coup attempt and it has played out live on television. the it is now 6:00 in the morning in ankara and istanbul and it appears that the government of president erdogan has retain or regain control of the country. at least it appears that way. friday night, and the big story on "action news" tonight is an uprising that appeared to threaten the status quo and

stability in turkey. military forces sent planes, flying well over the capitol of ankara and soldiers took command of the two bridges out office tan bull. at one point it had been feared that the military fired on civilians on the bridge. explosions were reported in both cities, and, according to state run media, at least 42 people were killed in ankara. president erdogan was out of the country on vacation when this whole thing started to day, when the cow plotters announced they were in full control of the country. erdogan resort todd using face time to communicate with cnn turning, that is how's dressed the country in the height of the attempted coup. he called on citizens to flood streets and thousands came to the airport to welcome his return. he delivered a speech saying plotters were just a minority of the military but that he will make them pay, those are his word. it appears that erdogan has regained control over the

government and is currently rounding up the plotters who try to bring him down, 130 arrests so far. truck that the 31 year-old mohammad burrell drove into crowds in the the bastille day revellers killing 84 of them and injuring hundreds more. officials in france say that burrell was a tunisia national, known to police only as a petty criminal. he was not known to intelligence services. two of the victims were americans. fifty-one year-old sean copeland and his 11 year-old son, brody. they were from austin texas and vacationing with the rest of their families. boy's youth baseball coach said brody was funny, popular, fun to be around, just one of a kind kid. in washington president obama reaffirmed america's resolve against terrorism. >> we will not be deterred. we will not relent. we will keep working together to prevent attacks and tea fend our home land. we are going to keep taking out isil leaders and pushing isil back in syria and eye

rack. >> "action news" will have continuing coverage, of the france truck attack throughout the weekend on six abc and six abc.com. a 64 year-old man is philadelphia's latest homicide victim. he was killed amid a hail of gunfire at 8:45 tonight during a triple shooting in north philadelphia. it happened on the 2800 block of north nine street near somerset. a 48 year-old would hand was shot in the chest and she's in critical condition at temple university hospital. a 15 year-old girl was also struck, she is in stable condition. well, philadelphia police are trying to unravel a mystery over the discovery of a body in mayfair this afternoon. they found that body in the trunk of the car. live at police headquarters is "action news" reporter dan cuellar, dan, what is the story here. >> reporter: well, jim, it is a terrible tragedy that remains under investigation tonight. family had reported her missing and feared the worst. today, their worst fears

became painfully clear. >> at this point we will get her out of the car because she hot she don't like to be hot. she don't like to be hot. she wants to get out. >> reporter: shocking circumstances of a grieving mother's sense of reality how could it be her daughter's body in the trunk of the car in the 2500 block of leon street, a few blocks from her home in mayfair. her beautiful daughter tinika ballard was only 23 years old, not even in the prime of her life, and mother of a three-year old little girl named molly. >> her daughter is three. she would never do that. and to have to find her car, in eye view right around the corner it doesn't make any sense. >> reporter: after ballard went missing july 6th her family put out flyers around the neighborhood. flyers have her pictures and explained she was last seen driving her white four door chevy cruz. family filed a missing persons report on monday. around noon time to take family members spotted her car. >> i got out and check the license plate. the as i did i noticed something coming from the trunk of the car, a bad smell,

it was a final good bye for alton sterling today in baton rouge, speakers of the 37 year-old's funeral have been calling for justice in the wake of his death. sterile who was black, was shot and killed on july 5th by 2 white police officers. his death and cell phone videos of the shooting have sparked nationwide protest to two senior advisors to president obama, also attended the funeral to take.
