national convention. before she comes here she also spending time in ohio expected to speak at the naacp conv in cincinnati today. her campaign is spending a million dollars in tv ads cross buckeye state this week. back here air force one made its way to philadelphia not by air, but by ground this morning. philadelphia police escorted the replica of the president's plane to the center. it's being installed as part of political fest for the dnc, a series of nonpartisan political exhibits around the city to engage convention goers and tourists and residents. "action news" will cover all the angles of the democratic national convention starting this friday. developing news out of baton rouge, louisiana where police continue to uncover more information about the gunman who ambushed 6 law enforcement officers yesterday. investigators say shooter gavin long was seeking out police to shoot them. he was identified as a former marine sergeant. the violence unfolded less than a mile from police headquarters. at this hour one officer is in critical condition, while

investigators try to find a motive for the attack. we'll have more on the deadly shooting in the next half-hour. developing news out of ballot where a judge has acquitted one of 6 officers charged in the 2015 death of freddie gray. gray died after suffering a spinal injury in police custody. lieutenant brian rice was the highest ranking officer charged with mansion, reckless endamagement and millions conduct in office. this morning a judge acquitted him of all charges. two other officers were acquitted in the case, as well. turning now to the accuweather forecast, it is day five of a very hot, very humid heat wave out there. as we look live from sky6 live hd from our temple university cam at the center city skyline, once again we're dealing with sticky contingency into the archful there could strong storms popping up around the region, as well. let's join david murphy at the

"action news" big board. >> reporter: rick you're right there are two issues. we assumed up to 90 philadelphia. 89 in millville. 86 in cape may. there's not a heat warning in place, part of the reason for that not everyone is experiencing that oppressively high dewpoint. in philadelphia we've seen the number drop to 67. anything 70 and up is oppressive. obviously we have it in wilmington, millville and cape may. a little bit less humid to the north, everybody dealing with high heat and pretty uncomfortable humidity values today. the heat index is making it feel like 95 in philadelphia. so a three degree spread there, we are looking for a high of 95 which means heat index values will make it feel like it's close to 100 in spots this afternoon. we're over 100 in dover, delaware, 96 in wilmington, 97 in millville. again, today's high, 95. sun and clouds for a while. and then we get a transition into bumpy weather this

afternoon. we're looking at the potential for thunderstorms to drop down out of the poconos through the lehigh valley and make it down to philadelphia either late this afternoon or early this evening. the national weather search villas storm prediction center has now drawn the slight risk category which was in allentown and reading down to the i-95 corridor. what this means, any thunderstorms that form in this area highlighted by yellow would have a chance of producing strong damaging wind gusts and hail and slight chance of a tornado, as well. it would be isolated, but a possibility. as we look at the local view on radar, nothing is here yet, well west to harrisburg and the poconos thunderstorms are beginning to pop and there's a line forming. they could spotty before they get here, oncer they do get here they could pack a punch. we'll have more on future

meteorologist david murphy is back with a closer look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. some relief on the way. >> reporter: tomorrow it will feel wordle different and today we have to get through heat and humidity and potentially strong storms. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows there's nothing local, but north and west of philadelphia we're seeing the afternoon thunderstorms still pretty far away, looks like we'll have to

wait probably until later in the afternoon before allentown and reading start to get hit by that. strong storms may make it down to philadelphia. taking a look outside we have the action cam out earlier, that's a nice picture on a hot and humid day, you sit down by the fountain you get a spray coming character way in center city. you kind of need it there and elsewhere, too. 92 degrees in philadelphia. a quick climb in the low 90s as expected. the dewpoint dropped out of the 70s down to 67. that's noble humidity the winds out of the -- noble humidity, the winds out of the west/southwest is humid air. 90 until allentown and reading. up in the northern areas not as humid as philadelphia. once you get into wilmington and south jersey and delaware, the humidity levels are higher. we have oppressive humidity out there. heat index gives you an indication the higher numbers to the south, the higher humidity. 99 degrees heat index at the airport in atlantic city

in dover. these are some of the hotter spots. we still have a few hours to add to the temperature and get the heat index values up. i think so a lot of you will experience conditions feeling like the upper 90s or worse today. as you look at rain, looks like between now until 3:30 p.m. there's not a lot going on. but by 3:00 p.m. look out for strong thunderstorms. there's a few dropping out of the lehigh valley into philadelphia. by 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. there's a chance that spotty but strong storms are coming through the i-95 corridor and looks like it gets off the coast by 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m. tonight. down the coast it should not be as bad. this is a brand new update from the national storm prediction center. earlier this morning when we went on the air, they had the slight risk category in

allentown and reading. before we extended it to philadelphia, now they are bringing it to the shore. this is an update. looks like everybody is in line for potentially strong thunderstorms. there's a slight risk for tornados, as well. that's being pushed back up into the northern and western suburbs. anything that pops in through here could produce strong, damaging wind gusts and the possibility of lightning downpours and strong winds there's a chance of a an isolated tornado that's this afternoon into this evening. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, today's high, 95, hot and humid, we've got the storm channels as we go into the afternoon. tuesday, the storms are over, humidity is dropping during the day and it's getting nice around here, 89. wednesday the pick of the week, 84, gorgeous day, back to 89, nice on thursday. unfortunately as we head into the coming weekend, friday, saturday, and sunday, we're back in the 90s, the humidity is up again and again we'll be on the look out for thunderstorms, probably the best chance would be sunday. there could something popping friday and saturday, as well.
