pradelli has the details tonight. >> reporter: philadelphia police are on the hunt for this man. wanted for questioning in the saturday murder of ricky morgan. investigators say the suspect beat morgan with some type of brick and stabbed her around 11:30 p.m. >> some type of deal was made with the individual. we know ty went to tack of a location and during that time he beat her. he stabbed her multiple times. and she was able to run from that location but then she collapsed and succumbed to her injuries. >> reporter: investigators say the suspect is wanted for at least two other attacks on prostitutes in recent weeks. on july 12th, police say the suspect slit the throat of a prostitute on the 3800 block of jays per. the victim played dead but lived. this mountain bike helped police connect the cases as well as his method of operation and the victims he targets. >> 30 to 35 years of age, white females that are prostitutes in the a he goes, he has some type of conversation with them, tries

to make some type of deal. he takes them to a secluded area and then he attacks them. >> reporter: residents who live in the area say ricky morgan basically lived in this vacant lot where she suffered the brutal death. police want women in this kensington area to keep a watchful eye for that suspect. again, riding that black and blue mountain bike who strikes at night. in kensington, chad pradelli channel6 "action news." >> ♪ >> the republican national convention is officially under way in ohio. and in the last hour, the anti-trump movement started making waves on the convention floor. "action news"'s sarah bloomquist is live now in cleveland for us with the developing details. sarah. >> reporter: sharrie, moments ago we watched what appears to be something of an uprising on the convention floor. truly extraordinary. a group of delegates from about 11 states tried to force a roll call vote in an over to the stop the nomination of

donald trump. it was a chaotic scene unlike anything we've seen in recent conventions. >> roll call vote, roll call vote, roll call vote. >> point of order. >> is anybody seeking recognition. >> reporter: that roll cl vote was denied by the chair and the fallout was precisely what party leaders wanted to avoid, shouting and screaming. the entire colorado delegation walked off the floor. we thought the stop trump effort had been stopped last week for lack of support and now this is happening. we will continue to monitor the action on the convention floor as it unfolds. this is all happening on the very first day of the rnc, a day dedicated to a conversation about national security, something donald trump has talked extensively about. today we spoke with the new jersey delegation. they talked to us about how they believe their man is the one to make america safe again. >> good morning, new jersey. >> good morning.

fairmount park where some people spent the day trying to cool off in the nearby pool. jeanette. >> reporter: sharrie, mother nature has been all over the place today. it wasunny and then it started raining with some lightning. it's the rean w kelly pool here in fairmount park was closed temporarily. but it is back opened right now. and, you know, the good news is sometimes the pool might not work out for these hot days but there are a couple of things that almost never fail you. much needed rain is now cooling off the region but not before a scorcher of a day home runs, no problems for these dedicated players and loyal fans in marlton new jersey. >> it iatt . we're used to it. it is baseball season. we're always hot. >> reporter: younger spectators killed two birds with one stone dividing their time between the side line and the cooling station. team players vying for a spot in the world series found other ways to keep cool. >> lots of water. lots of gatorade.

by just barely in the left lane and it is a mess. stay local on columbus boulevard, delaware avenue or else stay on the numbered streets instead. 95 nthd is not where you want to be. delays there are spilling back onto the vine street expressway eastbound aa parking lot and those delays are spilling onto the schuylkill. so that's the highways and the secondary roads there are a ton of downed trees and wires this afternoon. one set blocking 322 in delaware county by lark's corner shopping center. bethel road is an alternate. across the river in gloucester county 322 eastbound has reopened but the heavy rain still moving through that area and it rained so heavily along 295 in camden county that there's flooding in both directions by 42. this is the southbound delay very heavy right now and in mount laurel have some emergency construction blocking a lane on 73 northbound, so it's jammed there as well. we'll check it again including the mass transit situation rick and sharrie, in the next half hour. >> busy monday night. thank you, matt. much more still to come on "action news" this evening. what health experts are now

>> late today police in louisiana sd e ri who shot six baton rouge police officers over the weekend was on a mission to kill even more cops. at a press conference today they showed images of the 300 to 400-yard crime scene investigator its say gavlin long scouted his crime scene then methodically assassinated three officers. he used a pistol an rifle with a strap to take aim at close range. >> strap kept that rifle place so that when he he engaged those police officers, they were deliberate and they were extremely accurate. >> this guy was going to another location. he was not going to stop here. after he was finished here i have no doubt he was heading to our headquarters. and he was going to take more lives. >> online long said protests against police don't work and

he urged people to fight back. investigators are tracing the internet for more clues about his past. >> a baltimore police officer was acquitted in the 2015 death of freddie gray this morning. but now the city's mayor says lieutenant brian rice will face an administrative review. gray died after suffering a spinal injury while in police custody. his death set off protests and rioting. lieutenant brian riceth highest ranking officer charged in the case. two other officers have already been acquitted in that case. >> health check tonight. yet another twist in the trail of the zika virus in the u.s. the first american to die of the virus apparently passed to it a caregiver yet no one knows exactly how. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman at the big board with details. >> once again we're reminded about how much is a mystery about the zika virus.

they don't know if zika was the cause of death for the elderly patient but they know their high levels of the virus in the blood. the caregiver a family member also contracted the virus but that person the not travel to an area affected by zika nor did he or she have sex with someone infected. the caregiver has recovered. the investigation on how the virus was spread is still ongoing. there's another g endorsement for healthy fats like olive oil and nuts. a study from there college of physicians says a mediterranean diet with lots of mono unsaturated fats but no overall fat limits can can cut the risk of heart disease, breast cancer and type two diabetes. study authors say reducing fat of all kinds in the u.s. for the past 30 years led to eating moury fined grains and added sugars and that likely contributed to the obesity epidemic. it was not our consumption of fat. and also today, the american academy of pediatrics is urging parents, doctors and

the media to help limit the amount of virtual violence kids are watching on tv, the internet and on video games. some studies link it to aggressive behavior but even without these scientific evidence of this, most experts agree it makes sense to limit kids' exposure to violence whether it's real such as on the news or in video games. the academy says parents should shield kids under six from all violent images. and for older kids, it also says that parents should play the video games their kids are playing with them so that they know the content. also recommends banning first person shooter games altogeth and they are urging the entertainment industry not glamorize violence. >> thank you ali. another check

just to the north of townsend more moisture that we are tracking here. you can see for salem there in salem county over into port penn also into canton and bayside if you're traveling along route 49 and also just to the west of port penn along highway 13 we've got a lot of heavy rain coming down in a short amount of time. another cluster one more down across areas in south jersey from lakewood to lakehurst to browns mills it is intense but certainly not as bad as areas to the south and west. ology moving along route 206 into charts worth and speed well. eventually we have relief on the way. as far as the storm reports so far, 54 miles per hour wind gusts report there had in wilmington today. south allentown 62 miles per hour gusts. orfield that's also in lehigh county reports of trees and wires being knocked down because of the strong showers and storms. in blackwood new jersey 47 miles per hour wind gusts with the cold front that moved

through. the severe thunderstorm watch stays up until 8:00 p.m., damaging winds and hail and tropical downpour is also a big concern as we go throughout the rest of tonight. currently it's 75 degrees in philadelphia. when you factor in tea dut earlier today we had a high of 95. 92 the heat index in reading and it feels like 86 degrees there in cape may point. here is the five day at 5:00. you can see that the relief is coming by tuesday. sunny with the humidity dropping, a high of 89 degrees. it's comfortable on wednesday. that's my pick of the week. a high of 85. then turning hot and more humid as we get into thursday, a high of 90. summer steam bath on the way on friday and at 95 and we are in the uner 90's as we get into the start of next weekend. we'll have more details coming up in the next half hour, guys. >> all right. k melissa.

with anger and confusion. we're live with what happened on the floor. philadelphia's not far behind from cleveland as the city is getting ready to welcome democrats for their national convention but officials want everyone to know that getting around will not be a problem next week. and philadelphia district attorney weighs in on the investigation into eagles player nelson agholor. >> ♪ >> fireworks inside cleveland, ohio, this afternoon. you're taking a live look at the quicken loans arena, the fight over presumptive republican nominee donald trump has pitted republicans >>e e ly several hours into the first day of the republican national convention and already several delegations have walked out. >> anti-trump delegates demanded a roll call vote on the convention rules and were quickly silenced. but there was a lot of action here a couple of hours ago right on the convention floor. >> delegate from the state of west virginia. >> reporter: there was call 81st day dustup a couple of hours ago when the anti-trump movement made a last gasp effort to bring a vote to the convention floor, a vote to change the rules and let delegates vote for any candidate, any other just the candidate who won the primary in their state. and when the chair called a voice vote to approve the rules of the convention including the binding of delegates the anti-trump forces erupted in protest. the whole thing lasted about 10 or 15 minutes and it appears that the anyone but trump movement has officially breathed its last breath. and so there you have that. let's talk to terri madonna, the director of the franklin and marshall college poll and one of our favorite political experts around pennsylvania.

this protest seems to be over. let's look ahead to the next four days. what does donald trump need to accomplish this week in cleveland? >> that's a great question. the first element is unity. donald trump wants to lead this convention with a party that's unified behind it. there are a fair number of no shows. the other thing he wants to do is present himself as presidential, does he have the lettership to govern. can people trust him in the oval office particularly with national security. this is one moment, 24 million people on average watch the conventions in 2012. the romney speech drew 30 million. obama 35. so, there's not arguably a ton of people are going to watch and he needs to leave that impression, his best opportunity. >> reporr: yr ago let's look back in time when this whole thing really started, you look at the state of pennsylvania. if you looked at hillary clinton and donald trump, the

margin was substantial but now this state is in play. >> that's correct. we've had divided polls. some of them show clinton up six, seven, eight but a couple, one, two, even trump ahead. i don't think there's any doubt that last week when we had the situation with the e-mail, you know, the fbi director calling her careless and reckless that that's had an impact not doing as well as she did before among women and independent voters but the bottom line here is i think we were not in play in pennsylvania in 2012. i think we're back in play given the tightness of the polls. i think we're going to see the candidates in. remember, biden and hillary clinton go he to scranton where every politician was born but unfortunately dallas occurred and they didn'o there. they're new jersey play and there's going to be a lot of an o state. >> political advertising on pennsylvania television stations. >> reporter: telev stations are going to do quite well. you're right jim. >> reporter:.

street are closed. broad street between packer avenue and 95 closed in both directions. signs are already up along major roadways like the boulevard warning drivers of the impending closures that go into place this saturday. >> and thousands of extra visitors will put our transportation systems to the test. taxis will be out in force across the city. septa's regional rail is already working on a reduced schedule. uber is operating on a temporary reprieve. >> but will a strike threat and a major travel hub disrupt the balance? john rawlins live now at philadelphia international airport and john, what are you hearing from the workers union there? >> reporter: well, organizers say up to a thousand people poised to walk offer the job, that could be the case. timing is everything of course with the dnc just now kind of getting prepared to launch. at this point though the group not giving an actual strike deadline. >> these workers have voted to

strike and keep in mind, you know, these workers are not -- >> reporter: the potential walkout by the people who check bags at the curbside transfer luggage inside the terminal, direct passengers to the right t.s.a. line, attend to wheelchairs and clean airplanes. they work for private contractors like prime flight which is hired by the airlines. they want a $15 an hour starting wage and union representation. the thinking arriving dnc delegates will embrace their cause should there be a walkout. >> i think that what we're asking dnc delegates to do is exactly what the dnc is going to ask americans all across the country to do which is support a pro worker ached day. as for impact on airport operations. >> we'll have to see. >> reporter: as far as other transportation issues during the dnc septa doesn't believe its currents rail system woes will have much impact. most delegates are expected to use chartered buses or the subway.

>> ♪ >> monday night, jim is on assignment. he'll join us in a mome i'm monica malpass. the big story on "action news" tonight is the steamy day turning into a stormy night. umbrellas were out earlier today. of course to block the searing rays of the sun and that heat fired up a line of thunderstorms that is now packing soaking downpours and potentially damaging wind gusts. meteorologist adam joseph in for cecily tonight. adam, some folks have been seeing damaging winds already with these storms. >> that's been the major culprit with these storm is the rush of winds as they pass through and the heavy downpours. hit 96 degrees in philadelphia today. this front is busting the heat and humidity. it's now in southern parts of new jersey and delaware on storm tracker6 live double scan. we have a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of long beach island from old barney down to surf city until 6:15, 60 miles an hour winds with this storm as it pushes through and you can see some intense lightning, close to 157 over the last 15 minutes. you see the deep purples with

the torrential rain now east of route nine and about to head off of long beach island but still getting walked all the way down from harvey cedars to surf city. we flip the radar to storm velocity and the red you're seeing here rushing away from the lightning and the storm is that powerful wind, the straight line winds that have moved with this storm now pushing off of the coastline. we have another severe thunderstorm southern parts of delaware around dover and kent county. this also until 6:15, damaging winds, the major culprit with this. dover to canton bury you can see all the lightning, 118 in the last 15 minutes now pushing south and east of dover but again winds near 60 miles per hour. as this pushes over the bay you'll get that rush of wind heading towards cape play county with no friction over the water so this will be watch -- we'll be watching as it slides into southern parts of new jersey over the next half hour. monica when i come back we'll talk about the break in the heat and humidity for the next couple days and then another heat wave in that seven-day
