woodbine 78 degrees. satellite and radar we have a huge heat pump high you don't see it here, this is the satellite image. the high is sitting due south of charleston, west virginia. that high is pumping in that oppressively humid air. that will be the trend through wednesday of night week. we have a long heat wave to deal with. yesterday was the first day of it. looks like it could last, the intense stuff through wednesday, easing back a little bit by week's end. 1:00 p.m., 95. 3 p.m., 97. same number by 5:00 p.m. a stray thunderstorm is possible. we're forecasting a high of 98. when we factor in the humidity it feels like triple digit heat for philadelphia and areas to the south. these are the heat index values by monday afternoon feeling like 110 for the entire viewing area. when i come back in just a few

penalty. he is fluent in spanish which could help clinton win over latino voters. the two are expected to appear together in miami ahead of the national democratic convention in philadelphia that gets started on monday. >> the dnc is good business for center city hotels. some hotels have no rooms available and other hotel just a few. rates are 30% higher than on a normal day. that's hard for tourists being priced out. >> that's way too much. >> if you compare philadelphia to boston and new york and washington, d.c., if the convention were to takes place in those cities you would see much higher rates than you are seeing in philadelphia. >> there are a few last minute cancellations you may get a cheaper rate if you jump on the openings. >> donald trump will campaign

in pennsylvania during the dnc holding a town hall in scranton on wednesday. some polls show trump is poised to win p-a which has leaned democratic in presidential elections since 1988. trump will be there the day president obama and vice president joe biden will be speaking at the dnc. >> coming out of the munich germany, police confirm the 18-year-old suspect in the shooting rampage was born and raced in munich. there were no links to the islamic state, but there was a book on shooting. >> reporter: this cell phone video capturing the moments as shots were fired. you can see at least one gunman aiming at innocent bystanders. a deadly shooting at a place engrained in the hearts of germans and people all over the

world. shortly after 6:00 p.m. police say a person opened fire at the olympia mile the same site of the munich olympic massacre it was during september 25th 11 israeli athletes were taken hostage and killed by the terror group known as black november. people were scene fleeing the scene as special forces move into position outside the mall. >> we know at this point it's a mall which unfortunately is a very easy target. >> reporter: this is the second attack in germany in less than a week. on monday, a migrant teen attacked passengers on a train 180 miles south of munich. >> germany is one of our closest allies, well pledge the support they may need. >> reporter: police are urging people to avoid public places and remain vigilant. >> you've got to get auto of the way of what's about to come down the road.

the key with that is, you run and hide if you have to you fight. >> reporter: the state department through twitter is urging marriages to be aware of their -- americans to be aware of their surrounding and maintain a high level of vigilance leans in order to be safe and secure. >> there's more information about the domed malaysia flight 370. the pilot practiced the suicide route on his flight simm later at home. the plane with 239 people on board disappeared two years ago. investigators never figure out what went wrong. one man is dead after a shooting in port richmond section, shots were fired before 10:30 on the 3500 block of franker ford avenue. the victim was rushed to the hospital where he died.

no arrests made and no word about a motive. an accused coffee thief surrounded to police in chester county. this woman here, 48-year-old rebecca julian turned herself in after seeing surveillance video of herself on "action news." she was wanted for stealing bags of coffee from one wawa and driving to another one to return them for money. police believe she hit the entire tri-state area and racked up $3,000. officers say she has confessed to the crime. students from penn state will have to dig deeper into their pockets to pay for tuition. resident students are expected to see an increase of 2.29%. out of state students will see an increase of 3.17%. the increase comes after a tuition freeze for in-state students last year. the instate increase is among the lowest in 50 years. eagles training camp is

as this front right here slides through, but we're still talking about highs in the upper 90s. all this front does is ease the humidity a little bit and returns in the form of a warm front monday and we could see heat index values over 110 in parts of area. 1:00 p.m. right and sunny are -- for the jersey shore county poconos. this is the front interacting with the warm, soupy air. one or two showers are possible as the front continues on its journey. in a coverage will not be as widespread, but we have to allow for the showers or thunderstorms. very hot, highs in the mid to upper 90s. philadelphia, 98. cape may, 90. reading, 97. atlantic city, topping out at 94, 95. lots of sunshine to start, puffy cumulus clouds by afternoon. by 3:00 p.m., the isolated

with the report. you can find all the coverage online at 6abc/dnc that will include coverage every night plus information you need to know about local road closures and restrictions. glrnls witnesses helped to track down the suspected hit-and-run driver who hit and killed a woman walking with her family in south philadelphia. police say around 8:00 p.m. this toyota was speeding on jackson street and ran a stop sign before colliding with the minivan. the impact sent the toyota over the curb hitting the woman and her husband and toddler. the suspect did not stop and witnesses heard the commotion and called 911. >> i was in the basement, all i heard was a bang and i heard somebody say oh, my god. i want out and i ran here as fast i can, i saw a lady on the floor. >> the 38-year-old woman died at the hospital.

her husband and their 2-year-old son are being treated for head injuries. police arrested the driver a few blocks away from the scene. new this morning, a water main break flooded streets in the spring garden section of philadelphia. crews were called out to the intersection of spring garden and pennsylvania avenue before 1:00 a.m. we're told an 8-inch main break. crews shut off the water and they will be back out at the scene to make repairs. there's no word on what caused the main to break. brand new information at this hour, police in wilmington, delaware, they are searching for a female suspect after a woman was shot multiple times. this happened just before 3:00 a.m. on the 100 block of west if it street. police say the victim was hit numerous times in both arms. she is in the hospital right now in serious, but stable condition, so far no arrests have been made, but police tell us they are search be for another woman. this horrific crash under

investigation in newark, delaware state police say a car hit an suv around 1:30 a.m. the driver of the car died at the scene. the other driver is in the hospital with some serious injuries. 7:37 we continue to follow breaking news for you, police in munich, germany say there's no indication that the lone teenager attacker had a link to isis. an intense exchange of gunfire with what appears to be the munich shooter turned up on social media yesterday. investigators believe the shooter an 18-year-old german iranian killed himself after shooting and killing 9 people outside a crowded shopping mall. the victims include young children and other people. investigators have no idea what motivated the attack. saturday morning, a kansas community is on high alert after someone set fire to a man's

political fest. last minute preparations are underway across philadelphia. we're days away from all eyes being on the city as the democratic national convention takes the spotlight. >> there's a lot of stuff going on, and we're excited, but we have work to do. >> reporter: dnc committee says workers and volunteers will be busy until the final hours before the convention starts. >> we don't get into the politics or what's going inside the arena. for us it's about showcasing the city. >> reporter: the pomp and circumstances takes place inside the wells fargo, but there's much going on across the city to entertain the visitors and delegates. political fests will be at the city's most historical sites. >> they can expect to see political memorabilia, all types of history.
