morning if you're having a heat related issue you should call the heat lot behind there's the nobody on the screen, (215)765-9040. members of philadelphia's corporation of aging will answer the calls from 11:00 a.m. to midnight. time 9:02. new on "action news," saturday at 9:00 a.m. an early morning ride ended in tragedy in newark, delaware. a car collided with an suv and plowed into a fence. the driver of the car died in the wreckage. state police say the suv made a turn in front of the car on east chestnut hill road. the driver of the suv is in the hospital being treated for serious injuries. a mother walking with her family in south philadelphia is dead after she was hit by a hit-and-run driver. and police say witnesses helped to track down the suspected driver. officers say around 8:00 p.m., this toyota was speeding on jackson street and ran a stop sign before colliding with a

minivan. the impact sent the toyota over the curb hitting the woman her husband and toddler. police say the suspect never stopped. he drove away from the scene. witnesses heard the commotion and called 911. >> i was downs -- downstairs in my home and i was in the basement i heard a bang and i heard someone say oh, my god, i went out and ran as fast as i can and saw a lady on the floor. the. >> 38-year-old woman died at the hospital. her husband and 2-year-old son are being treated for head injuries. four others were hurt, they did survive. police arrested a driver a few blocks away from the scene. the democratic national convention in philadelphia now just two days away. take a look at the screen, you are looking live at sky6 live hd camera taking a bird's eye view of the stage set up at the wells fargo center. crews, of course, as you see

there are putting the finishing touches for philadelphia's time in the national spotlight. road closures for the dnc, they kicked in today. crews have blocked over the i-95 ramp to and from broad street. and beginning today at noon, commercial vehicles over five tons and heavy trucks will be banned for a nine mile stretch of the interstate. democratic ticket makes a campaign trail debut in philadelphia. another battleground state like p-a which is the host for the dnc. senator tim kaine is stepping into the presidential campaign trail as clinton's running mate. by selecting kaine, clinton is betting on experience in government is the best way to defeat trump.

snatching a newborn baby from the king of prussia mall plans to use an insanity defense. the attorneys filed court documents laying out their plans, a more told police she gave birth to a baby who died and wanted to hold a baby again her attorney claims she suffers from mental problems. surveillance shows her striking up a conversation with the baby's mother before taking off with the child. the boy was found unharmed in her apartment. students from penn state will have to dig deeper to pay for tuition at the main campus. students are expected to see an increase 2.9%. out of state students will see 3.17%. the school said the in-state tuition increase is among the lowest in 50 years. middle and high school

has us at 99 or 100. when you factor in the humidity it could feel as warm as 110. that's the dangerous one. 86 degrees in philadelphia with a dewpoint of 70. pressure reading rising. there's the westerly breeze that's the reason why there's no sea breeze that were down the jersey shore. 86 in millville and philadelphia. atlantic city, 84. beach haven, 84. reading, 86. allentown, 84 degrees. the air is very, very thick. humidity levels in the oppressive category, dewpoints above 70 in the entire viewing area. the humidity levels will climb down a little bit over the next 6 hours or so. it will be very, very humid. along with that this front is what brings the relief in the humidity tomorrow. it could trigger a shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. by 5:00 p.m. you can see how small an area we're forecasting

an area to pick up that storm. we're wording it a stray. hot and humid out there, feels-like temperatures, by 3:30 p.m., 100 in philadelphia. dover, 101, atlantic city 101 degrees. even 90-plus as we get into the shorepoints like cape may and wildwood. tomorrow it feels better, not much in the way of humidity with dewpoints dropping around 60. watch what happens as we get into monday, i don't know that i have seen heat index values in our viewing area. wilmington, 109. 108 in millville. atlantic city, 107 degrees. i'm sure we've been that high in the past, it's just been a long time, about four or five years. excessive heat, highs in the upper 90s, heat index values close to 108.

fortunately there's a breeze out here right now, the breeze helps it along a little bit, 91. 92 in millville. 92 in wilmington. feels like 95 in dover. look at the dewpoints, this kind of stuff belongs across gulf coast states not here in the delaware valley. this is the way we memp -- measure the amount of moisture in the air, 70 is awful. the entire viewing area is 70 or hire at this point. the good news, tomorrow afternoon, you see the cold front there, there's drier air on the other side of that front. that front crosses the region. high temperatures drop down a little bit and there won't be that humidity like we're dealing with right now. tomorrow is a hot day, but it will feel better out here. 97 degrees by 3:00 p.m. look tore a combination of sun and clouds, maybe an isolated shower or thunderstorm right through 5:00 p.m. feels-like temperatures topping out around 102 or 03. there also no relief in sight this week.

obama and joe biden speak at the dnc. >> police in wilmington, delaware searching for a female suspect after a woman was shot multiple times this happened before 3:00 a.m. on the 1300 block of west 5th street. the victim was hit in both arms. she is is in the hospital in serious, but stable condition. no arrests have been made, but police are searching for another woman. that this morning, a man is dead after a shooting in philadelphia's port richmond section, shots were fired before 10:30 p.m. on the 3500 block of frankford avenue. the victim was rushed to the hospital where he died. so far no arrests have been made and there is no word about a motive. a water main break flooded streets in the spring garden section of philadelphia. crews were called out to the intersection of spring garden and pennsylvania avenue before 1:00 a.m. we're told an 8-inch main broke.

>> 9:40 breaking news to get to you this morning, four people had to make a dramatic exit from a burning home on the 1100 block of lynnly avenue in logan this morning. one person escaped from a window you can see her holding a dog there. the woman walked across the roof to a neighboring property before rescued by the firefighters. we know that crews went into the building animal may three more rescues, only one person was injured, the injuries are minor. this morning the red cross is helping at least one of the fire victims in need of emergency assistance. the number of dead from flooding in which i china this s risen to 112 people.
