steamy day with some strong storms, going through. the meteorologist melissa magee has the latest from the "action news" big board and melissa, a lot to keep track of tonight. >> key to the humidity is fueling showers and storms across our region. here's storm tracker six live double scan radar. you can see activity to the south of the lancaster county and south of lancaster press nothing northern sections of delaware but what we are focused on is areas in philadelphia and also to the south and east there in south jersey. in fact, a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for camden, atlantic, burlington counties, even ocean counties. this will stay up until 7:00 p.m. this evening. we are finding wind in association with this thunderstorm in excess of the 60 miles an hour and likelihood of quarter sized hail. you can see storm tracker six live double scan street level heavy rain from cherry hill into philadelphia at this hour. moving down to the south and east to the south of the route 07, chatsworth and speed well as this lightening pushes to the south east at 45 miles an

hour, and also, if you are traveling along the garden state parkway. we will track showers and storms early this evening but as i mentioned it is because of the heat and humidity. we have high dew point numbers in the 70's. seventy in philadelphia. 75-degree dew point in cape may. we have enough atmosphere juice to get these showers and storms going. the as far as heat index right now it feels like 98 in millville. 109 in dover with those showers and storms have yet to move on through and 98 degrees current heat index number up in reading. we have excessive heat warning and advisory that is stay up until monday, we will let you know how high these numbers go as we get in the start of the dnc, alycia with those details with the full and exclusive accu weather forecast. >> melissa a, thank you, it will be a hot one. speaking of power picks hillary clinton introduced her running mate tim kaine today. two made their first joint appearance in miami. disaster. >> reporter: trump on twitter tried to stir up bernie sanders supporters and blasted the ticket as crooked and corrupt. on the eve of his convention a major controversy is brewing for dnc, wikileaks released e-mails from top party officials that show attempts to help clinton's campaign during the primary. sanders has accused the dnc of putting their thumb on the scale for clinton and even called for party chair debbie wassermachine schultz to step down. jeff chirico, channel six "action news". speaking of the dnc, this is the stage where hillary clinton will be the democratic nominee for president. and she will make history as first female candidate leading the ticket for a major party. last minute preparations are taking place, throughout the weekend and today, security officials, are doing a thorough sweep of that building. they are happening as we speak. as security assures venue is ready city officials are making sure that the city is ready a and that includes

something we have not seen in a long time, crews will start towing cars from the median of south broad street, those little yellow papers there. they are warning for all of those drivers. anyone familiar with that neighborhood knows it is a common practice to park right there, in the median and no parking rule there is rarely enforced. head up, towing will start at 8:00 o'clock tomorrow morning. traffic restrictions have started to take effect along i-95 for dnc security purposes. the last night crews blocked off highway ramps to and from broad street, and starting at noon time today commercial vehicles over 5 tons and heavy trucks have been banned from the 9-mile stretch of the interstate, from exit 13, near the airport, to exit 22, that is the vine street expressway, and local traffic is also blocked, around the sports complex. dnc rules committee members gathered this morning at the philadelphia convention center to advocate for an end to the super delegate system. they formally delivered a

petition of more than 600,000 signatures. the group says that super delegates are undemocratic and that every vote should matter. >> right now, there is absolutely no rule stopping super delegates in future cycles from overturning the will of the people in the most important political decision, that our party voters will get to make good group expects a full convention floor vote on this issue. the philadelphia 2016 host committee unveiled patriotic theme banners today, around construction sites, in center city. they feature quotes from political figures throughout american history, like theodore roosevelt and ronald reagan. officials say they will stay up for the duration of the convention. meanwhile as many of them, communities will hold events during the convention and today the the philadelphia muslim american host commit thee held an event, in center city philadelphia they want to make sure that the rights of american muslims are protect and that there is, safe place

provided for prayer. pro life organizations held a rally with think morning in philadelphia's powellton section of the city in opposition to hillary clinton. groups gathered outside a closed abortion facility on the 3800 block of lancaster avenue, they held signs, and said it is immoral for catholics to vote for clinton. and, this mock tug of war took place outside hillary clinton center city headquarters. they are protesting and calling on clinton to assure that medications are more affordable and more accessible , and one represents pharmaceutical companies, the other side representatives patients. now, this is going to be a very tough week for those protesters, as well as delegates, police officers and anyone else who will be outside, for convention week. temperatures are in the upper 90's, again today, but they feel a lot more like hundred degrees and not letting up anytime soon. summer vacation is halfway over, sorry for the memo, it is school officialness germantown are already, getting ready for the upcoming school year. the staff at roosevelt elementary school hosted a community day to clean, paint the school, and they thanked the volunteers by hosting a cook out with music, and games. some hospital workers a at chestnut hill hospital hit the picket lines today, service workers say they are paid less than similar workers in the city. this is a one day strike designed to call on the hospitals to give them a raise. striking workers includes nursing assistants, transporters, er technicians and secretaries. enan tabernacle baptist church in west oak lane held its annual four and a half

mile walk this morning. the hundreds of the people participated in the fit for eternity walk and run. all proceed from today's event will benefit center for grieving children and teens which help victims of crime, in philadelphia. dozens gathered at the constitution center in philadelphia this afternoon for a game inspired by, politics. one teams had to answer questions about politics in a family feud style game called political feud. and, recognize that woman right there "action news" anchor monica malpass and her son were also there today, and playing along. i'm in the sure whether they won. i will need to get the final score. today's event was part of the political fest. >> we will be right back. i approve this message.
