protesters. one thing you will see throughout the week are road closures. one on pattison avenue a dumpster truck blocking the way. you can see the shimmering lights that's another closure on the other end of the street. in a couple of hours demonstrators and supporters of bernie sanders will start gathering and thousands are expected to attend. the city has granted them a permit for everyday this week. the reason for the demonstration also vary greatly. of the 27 permitted demonstrations, several are against police brutality, one for cleaner energy and a smaller one, a mock trial for hillary clinton. the number of pro protesters is 35 to 50,000. another concern mentioned by the police commissioner, richard

this morning, dnc related road closures have started. matt pellman has the run down of the effect on commuters. >> reporter: convention week is here, so are the traffic implications. the good news this is nothing like the papal visit last september when we had all the interstates shut down. this time the interstates stay open. if you drive on i-95 if you drive a commercial vehicle over five tons, a big rig, dump truck or large camper or something like that you will not get by on nye -- i-95 between the exit for the platt bridge or the vine street expressway. that stretch is closed. that started yesterday. that restriction.

that means if you're in one of those sorts of vehicles you're forced to take the platt bridge, the schuylkill expressway or the vine street expressway. if you're in a passenger vehicle expects extra traffic on the vine, the schuylkill expressway and the platt bridge. we have ramp closures, the ramp from i-95 northbound to broad street is closed through friday. the one from the southbound side is close most of the week, but they will open that at times for people who need to get to the navy yard. the ramp from the schuylkill expressway to packer avenue is closed in the afternoon and evenings. if you exit at packer avenue you can't go south on broad street that's shut down around the clock between packer avenue and terminal avenue. terminal itself is closed as is pattison, darian and 10th and 11th. if you live in the immediate vicinity, this event will have an impact on your travel. if you don't and you're just driving around on the highways
