president. and tonight is an extraly important night for the candidacy for hillary clinton. this was the scene after 3:30 this afternoon when clinton arrived in philadelphia. we would not be surprised if she makes an appearance at the convention tonight because there is a number of people she will want to say hello too. tim kaine will speak tonight accepting the nomination that is official with the vice presidential role call this afternoon. this is kaine checking out logistics at the wells fargo center this morning. this convenience will hear from vice president joe biden tonight and president barack obama, both will make their case that the country needs to elect hillary clinton president. lets go live to "action news" reporter sara bloomquist, sara can you tell us what our local delegates are looking forward to on this night? >> reporter: jim they are invigorated by the speeches of the last two nights and excited

by the next two nights and great anticipation for president barack obama's speech and he will focus on qualifications rather than his own accomplishments and the delegates want to get a better sense of what tim kaine is all about. we caught up with the delegation at the beginning of the session. of the course we expect president obama to wow the crowd, we expect we know what will happen. it's going to take tim kaine to really resonate amongst us and bring it home like he is part of that ticket and solidifying the efforts to elect a democratic president and vice president. >> well, i think that the president and vice president is a hard choice, i'm interested in hearing them all. this is a wonderful opportunity for president obama to summarize his work and to endorse the continuation of that work

through hillary clinton. >> and enough of the talk we have a lot of talk, and of course another two days of talk but ultimately people want to translate it to action and president barack obama is good at that, strategic and thoughtful and that is where the room will be and where do we go from here. >> what do you think it will be like with the president in the house. >> they took my plastic water bottle and they didn't do that the last two nights so it will be tight. >> there is to doubt about that with this evening's lineup, there is serious star power, sigourney weaver and we hear from gabrielle giffords and her husband, mark kelly and the evening wraps up late tonight with rocker, lenny kravitz. back to you in our convention studio. >> once again joe biden speaks to the dnc tonight and he was out and about earlier in philadelphia this morning.

buy dep met with the delaware delegation at the mcgillin's old ale house and blocked traffic for about a half hour. >> that is why we need the revolution to continue -- >> protests continue throughout the city today including another rally in support of bernie sanders but in one of the more unusual sights we have seen, a group zip tied themselves to a railing inside of the comcast center. they were protesting against the media. police took them into custody and issued citations and freed them to continue their protest outside. the four people that jumped the fence at wells fargo center center yesterday are facing federal charges. meanwhi meanwhile, reaction comes in from all quarters including donald trump's question to the

russian government. trump seemed to be encouraging rushing to inject themselves into the election. >> he suggested that computer hacks hunt down hillary clinton's emails from her server. >> russia, from you listening, i hope you are able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. i think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. lets see if that happens. >> well, democrats are reacting with amazement and outrage but even donald trump's own running mate, mike pence, warned of serious consequences if russia interfered with the election. and there is widespread speculation that leads to believe that russia hacked the dnc emails that forced the resignation of shultz and an arc

ward start to the convention. >> and trump had an audience in cran stone, the crowd yelled lock her up. >> and pence asked why the u.s. should not get along with russia and make good trade deals with russia. >> he says that hacks were negotiating bad deals with china and under him that would change. local merchants were almost uniformly disappointed with the visit of pope francis and hopes that the dnc would be different. john rawlins live with more. what is the verdict? >> i think it will take a while for hard numbers to actually surface about this, but the short answer will probably be yes. with 50,000 people spending a week and spending money it thooz be a good shot in the arm. but that said it doesn't appear that the money is being distributed equally. >> we were hoping to be busier.

>> some disappointment at the terminal market bakery. regular are staying away worrying about possible crowds and things are gloer. >> from our end, maybe 75% to 80% of a normal week. >> you are around 25% off. >> yes. >> and at chris's jazz club the hope was good food and jazz would attacks out of towners, but so far the lunch is good. >> they enjoy the lunches but for the evenings not that much yet. the owner is hopeful saying the reservations are strong for the weekend. >> and chestnut the crest beer haven brewer had a jump in business. >> have to guess that this week will probably maybe be a 100% increase than we would have done. dnc delegates have high praise for the energy and friendliness.

>> the city of brotherly love, i felt it here. >> they love the food and subway but not the cost of staying here, rooms are several hundred dollars more a night than prior conventions in charlotte and denver. >> $700 at the marriott. that is a chunk of change. $700 a night. >> well, sticker shock we heard that several times today from delegates. the delegate from florida says she deferred her cost by being one of four people in the room giving her discretionary money to spend hopefully at the terminal market. family is a major theme throughout this convenience and we saw it last night with bill clinton's speech and we'll see it again tomorrow night when chelsea delicious introduces her mother. chelsea is married to mark the son of former congress

it's that time of year. when the heat kicks in the entire region is looking to escape to the jersey cape this year with the convention and hot temperatures, everyone is looking to get bonus beach time. >> i have no interest in being at the dnc. >> while the donkeys are at the dnc in philadelphia, lucy is here at the beach. >> we like lucy and cape may and the victorian homes. >> the favorite candidate on the beach is a cup of cookies and cream. >> the beach is really packed. >> the idea that extended weekends or midweek day trips are worth playing a little hooky. >> with the heat wave in the last two weeks people are taking the long weekends, can you see them calling their bosses and trying to get days off not to have to go back to the city. >> we have a last minute

paulsboro, new jersey, animal control was called to east jefferson last night for a large snake under a porch. here is the picture of the animal caught slithering into a hole. the 10 foot long boa constrictor is not dangerous but could be a threat to small children. and pets. i'm hillary clinton and i approved this message. who do you talk to for military advice right now? well, i watch the shows.

now receding. cecily tynan what about the rest of this night and tomorrow? the last full day in philadelphia for most of these delegates. >> things are getting stormy, stormtracker 6 live double scan showing the storms over sea isle city have left and we get a break and this is reloading today and tomorrow, and this could cause travel problems as well. today all about the heat and 94 degrees with the heat index of 97, day six of the heat wave, the longest heat wave of this year. when we get rid of the heat, we shift to the potential for flash flooding and a watch is posted for most of our viewing area thursday night through friday night for the potential for flash flooding and the air mass is saturated and any storm could bring down a lot of rain if a short period of time. if you step out tonight it's hot, 94 in philadelphia and the

same in millville and the heat index 102 in dover and it gets more humid tonight. satellite 6 along with action radar showing we are in between systems now a cold front up to the north and a stationary front to the south, what these systems will do, they will eventually be merging and that first system, will bring more humid air. tomorrow is going to be another hot one, last day of the heat wave already feeling like 86 at 8:00 in the morning and early in the afternoon up to 97 and then it begins to drop later in the afternoon as the storms develop, future tracker 6 showing they could be heavy hitters and by 2:00 scattered storms and thunder and lightning and heavy downpours continuing through the commute and around midnight storms north and west and this system continues through mid-day on friday. and that means we do have the potential for flooding. this is what to expect s rounds of heavy thunderstorms, thursday

afternoon into friday. and could get a quick 1 to 3 inches, that causes the potential for flash flooding and we could also see damaging winds, especially south of philadelphia, where we have the higher instability. and the jet stream. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast one more day, 93 degrees tomorrow and the heat index up to 97, the afternoon thunderstorms firing up with the potential for flooding, they continue through thursday night and into the day on friday, and especially the first half of the day unsettled. that temperature is 85 degrees and the heat wave will be over and be very humid. now, heading into the weekend i think saturday will be the better day for outdoor activities, warm and humid and nothing more than an afternoon thunderstorms. partly cloudy skies and 87 and then another wave of showers and thunderstorms on sunday again with the potential for heavy rain and 84 degrees, we begin to

dry things out on monday and 86. tuesday should be a nice day seasonably warm and 88 and wednesday plenty of sunshine and the heat returns with a high of 90 degrees, jim tomorrow is going to be another hot day and tomorrow night we could get some flash flooding and it could be a problem for anyone traveling friday after the dnc. >> it cools off after thousands of delegates go home. >> exactly how about that. >> abc world news with david muir is next on channel 6.
