streets as much as the grown ups did. it was slow going for drivers on these flooded roads around landis avenue. we are monitoring it all with storm tracker 6. what is the latest tonight? >> jim, we have been getting rounds of heavy rain. fortunately, the bulk of the severe weather is missing us to the south. north richmond, virginia had tornado warnings. we had the heavy rain. what's going on, low pressure over northern virginia. that will be closer to a region in the overnight hours. that will enhance the third batch of rain as it moves in. this shows the rainfall amounts. south jersey and delaware getting hit hard. all the areas you see in the yellow, three to three and a half inches of rain. that's enough to cause localized flooding. more is on the way overnight. the flash flood watch overnight until noon on friday. we are looking at the potential

for an additional three inches of rain from the system. overnight, another round moves in with downpours, thunderstorms. friday morning, there will be pockets of high water. most of the rain will be tapering off by dawn. however, the humidity stays high. it will bring more showers and thunderstorms. we'll talk about that in the full accuweather seven day forecast. jim? >> thank you. let's go live to "action news" reporter, lolita lopez with the story of a family that got caught up in floodwaters and needed to be rescued. >> reporter: that's right, jim. the fire department performing two floodwater rescues. as you mentioned, we spoke with a victim and her 91-year-old mother. 71-year-old caroline williams is talking about her drive home with her 91-year-old mother, sarah smith by her side after a day of fun in chester, delaware

county. doing some gambling? >> yes. >> reporter: they were a few miles away when a torrential storm rapidly flooded the intersection of route 291. miss williams says one moment the road was passable, the next moment it wasn't. >> i couldn't avoid it. the water was coming up so fast. i tried to turn. >> reporter: caroline said she could only watch helplessly as the floodwaters rose above the hood of the car. >> my mom said i'm getting wet. i said there's nothing i can do about it. >> reporter: this shows how high the water rose inside the vehicle. fortunately they were able to call 911. crews from the chester fire station located a few blocks away. >> they were in trouble. that's what we are here for. luckily the fire house is right here. we were there in a matter of

this time around. some presidential years, you hear people say they are the same. they are not the same this year. hillary clinton and donald trump will spend every minute until november 8 trying to tell us how they are deferent and how each other would be totally unacceptable. one hopes they will stress ideas, plans, solutions because we need those to make a choice worthy of our democracy or at least what our democracy is supposed to be. we need to respect the candidate, but they need to respect us. we appreciate the opportunity to make you part of the experience of the dnc. for each one of us on the air, there are about eight people working off the air, behind the scenes. without them, people like me would be just talking to the wall. we hope you have enjoyed our work because we want you back four years from now. for the entire "action news" team, i'm jim gardn.
