you can see here behind me on north rosewood street people are starting to gather and this is where the shooting took place, that 10-year-old girl shot in the arm. now her family wants the crime to stop. >> it's, um -- it's getting better but it still hurts. it don't hurt like it -- when it first happened. >> reporter: this 10-year-old girl had big hugs for her family after being released from hospital but she still has a bullet lodged in her arm. >> they can't take out the bullet. if they take the bullet out they might damage something in my arm so they said my skin will just have the to push it out. >> reporter: she was returning home to north rosewood street after a outing with her grandmother around 6:00 p.m. thursday. her grandmother says they were getting out of their car when they heard an argument down the street and then gun shots. >> she said mom, i'm shot. >> reporter: police say two men were arguing in the street when one of them pulled out a gun and started shooting. police say a third man fired shots from a second story window in the midst of all this a bullet hit the girl in

our area. >> so far there are more than 16 lunn cases of zika in the u.s. but they're all travel related. today we're learning about four people in florida who have not traveled to an area with zika nor did they have sex with someone infected. governor rick scott announces today florida is the first state in the continental u.s. with what appears to be locally acquired cases of zika virus. >> one of these four cases involves a woman and the other three cases involve men. >> health officials believe they all stem from a small area in south florida. >> in brazil. >> penn medicine infectious disease doctor pablo tabas tells me it was only a matter of time before we'd see domestic cases in florida. >> we have mosquitos that carry the infection and this is very close to the caribbean islands, dominican republic, puerto rico. >> he expects there will be more cases but says it's tough to say how many and if the virus will travel north and

hit our area. >> we have the mosquitos so it is possible, too, that we will have cases in the future. >> still, he says it's not an meter 88 threat. he recommends people here stay informed and practice prevention, especially if you're pregnant. use insect repellants and get rid of standing water. it's a different story in puerto rico. zika is now an epidemic there. nearly 6,000 people have been diagnosed including more than 650 expectant mothers. the doctor says birth defects are rare but can be devastating. >> if you are one of the unfortunate ones to have a baby way malformation this is terrible. >> that's why he and others are working hard in the lab. penn is part of a collaboration starting the first human clinical trials of a zika virus vaccine. and in florida they're testing mosquitos. so far none have tested positive for zika but they're also testing more people.

>> from our new jersey news room this evening police in evesham township are hoping this sketch will lead them to arrest a man who exposed himself two 15-year-old girls. officers were called about 3 o'clock wednesday afternoon to the kings grant development. police say the girls were riding their bikes in the area when they saw the suspect.

when the girls ran off the suspect tried to chase one of them. she flagged down a passing driver who stopped and scared that suspect away. septa regional rail riders will see a change to their commute come monday. starting august 1st regional rail fares will be collected and validated at the top of stairwells to center city stations during the afternoon rush. that means riders will not be able to buy tickets on the train. this comes after septa pulled more than 100 defective regional rail cars out of service. the agency says the train troubles have made trains just more crowded making it harder to collect fares on board. >> a federal appeals court will not toss out charges against new jersey senator bob menendez. the democrat's office is accused of pushing the business interest of a friend and donor in exchange for gifts. today a judge dismissed menendez's claim for constitutional protection as a senator were violated. menendez maintains his

also looking very active but for right now sky6 live in cape may showing a few folks still on the sand here a bit of a breeze kicking in and temperatures down the shore a little cooler than farther inland locations like to the north and west but it's really humid at the shore in fact we take a look at the temperatures, it's 79 in cape may point, 83 in atlantic city and then you jump to wilmington and it jumps up to 89 degrees. 86 in philadelphia. 90 right now in reading and lancaster at 86 degrees. but then were you factor in the humidity, still feels like the 80's at the shore but 95 in dover, 93 he in wilmington, 92 in reading. 91 in allentown. again humidity did drop a little bit after the storms but it's still fairly uncomfortable out there. we have that one low pressure pushing away. we've got sub sten nance. that means sinking air behind us. we can't get a lot of those clouds or showers to develop but there's energy to the west rolling through here over the upcoming weekend but for tonight stays dry.

just hours after what you just saw. she made history at the dnc here in philadelphia. clinton and her vp pick tim kaine just wrapped up a tour of the knex factory. before that the democratic ticket held a rally at temple university to kick off a three day bus tore through pennsylvania and ohio to highlight their economic vision. now that the celebrating is over the cleanup is under way, that's the less fun part. crews have spent most of this day inside the wells fargo center removing chairs, tearing up the stage and picking up all that trash. protestors are continuing to clear out fdr park and crews are starting to clean up there as well. >> thousands of delegates are trying make their way home today. this is a live look at the philadelphia international airport where only a few flights are being reported as delays. however, this morning weather led to nearly 200 incoming and outgoing flight cancellations and airport officials had already warned that this could be one of the busiest days of the year because most of the

ran that police cruiser off the road noon a guardrail. route 13 northbound is shut down right now as police investigate. we are told that both the officer and the prisoner suffered serious but nonlife-threatening injuries. a boil water advisory remains in effect for thousands of people in camden county after a water main break there. workers have made repairs but the swat still being tested. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic live now in camden with an update. >> reporter: as the allen family sits on their porch on bradley avenue, they've got questions about the boil water alert that went out thursday afternoon in camden and what it could mean for six month old savannah. >> well, what's going on? what's in the water? is it really bad? you know, if you got to boil water then it must be pretty bad. >> i be glad when they fix it 'cause i don't know what's in it and where is it coming from, what kind of bacteria might be in the water. >> reporter: city officials issued the alert as a precaution and after a 36-inch water transmission line into camden ruptured in pennsauken

channel6 "action news." >> philadelphia police are investigating a possible murder in germantown. police say a woman died after being assaulted by her boyfriend. this happened this morning on the 4600 block of green street. police found the 24-year-old woman dead inside of her home. police arrested her 47-year-old boyfriend. the identities of the victim and the suspect have not yet been released. a person is in custody after police were shot at. this happened in the lancaster county borough of columbia around 3:30 this morning. none of the officers was injured. investigators say police were targeted. however they don't know the motive. police say they are also questioning a possible person of interest. >> after a week of traffic restrictions and some tie-ups you'll be pleased to know things are starting to get back to normal now that the dnc is behind us. >> matt pelman standing by now in the "action news" traffic center with the upday. hi, matt. >> we certainly have had a lot of people on the move at a

heading out of town and right now people are heading out of town to head down the shore. the walt whitman bridge is plenty busy on the eastbound side but headed westbound towards philadelphia we've been jammed here at the ben franklin bridge because of an earlier disabled vehicle up near the mid span and apparently we have a swarm of bugs as well so like to clear those out. meanwhile at the tacony palmyra bridge getting ready for an opening for a southbound ship. if you're heading out head for the betsy ross bridge as an alternate. our crash on 95 southbound in the work zone at cottman has been pushed off to the side but it's still plenty slow as you come down from academy with some speeds there just in the 20's. also have a crash on city avenue just off the schuylkill at presidential boulevard. there's one in limerick along louis road at linfield trap road and a vehicle ran into a pole in pemberton so i would avoid lakehurst road. next week closures return to the vine street expressway. we've got new lanes coming to 202 and changes on the regional rails. see you at 4:30 monday morning. >> all right. get rid of those bugs, will you. >> i'll try. >> thanks very much. now that both conventions

>> that was just some of the police radio calls after one san diego police officer was killed, another woundd in a shootout following a late night traffic stop. a suspect was wounded and taken into custody a short time later. another was believed hold up in a house. police stormed that house earlier this afternoon. no word just yet whether anyone else was arrested. the officer killed, a 16 year veteran of the force. the other is expected to survive. >> nearly four years after that mass shoot, at sandy hook elementary construction on the new school is completed. the 86,000 square foot school in newtown, connecticut will house students in pre-k to fourth grade. the new school features bulletproof glass at the front entrance two sets of doors and visitors must be buzzed in. the old school was demolished in late 2013 months after a gunman killed six educators and 20 children. the $50 million cost was covered by the state. six state employees were criminally charged in connection with the flint,

tropical humidity sticking around. as we take a look at double scan live radar we've got a break right now just north of the poconos, a couple downpours trying to spark up there but we have good sub sten nance today which is sinking airline the system which passed through yesterday and that system as it passed by it took some of the heat away from us so our heat wave is officially over at least the latest one. today's high 89 degrees and it all began back in may this year for the first heat wave of three days from may 26 to the 28th. the second one came in july so june we had no heat waves. then a third one in the middle part of july and then the latest one was seven days long and the most intense. presently it feels like run in in allentown, 92 in reading, 93 wilmington, 95 in dover. so, again, even though those numbers have been knocked way back that tropical humidity is still around and that is helping it to make it feel a little more uncomfortable than the air temperatures would represent. we do have a wedge of dry air now.

then we look to the west. there's energy gathering and this is going to push through here especially tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night. but for tonight patchy clouds around, areas of fog, 68 in the suburbs, 72 for center city. and then as we get into the early morning hours of saturday, it is pretty much dry everywhere but it is not going to take long for things to spark up here especially through our pennsylvania counties early tomorrow afternoon. if you're in southern new jersey or delaware, especially along the shore, much of the day tomorrow looks to be rain free but everything could try to consolidate here and we could see some flooding downpours, even some strong to severe thunderstorms. this is 6 o'clock tomorrow evening. and still some popping around the region saturday night into sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. and even into sunday afternoon should be far less widespread but still some isolated or scattered downpours or thunderstorms the second half of the weekend. association oppressive humidity over the weekend and that's going to lead to a lot

of clouds, limited sunshine with numerous downpours and thunderstorms. if you get some of these downpours since the humidity will be so high we could see more than 2-inches of rain in spots. if you're at the shore tomorrow again not bad. 80 degrees sun and clouds. the activity should hold off until the evening or overnight hours and then sunday it's humid with a couple of pop-ups around 81 degrees with the ocean temperature sitting at 72. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast 80's over the weekend but it's going to feel close to the 90's with that oppressive humidity and again very unsettled tomorrow afternoon, at times on sunday and even going into monday the humidity will be high enough that some storms will develop here and there but then it all starts to push away off the coast as we dry it out here tuesday, wednesday, thursday, temperatures start in the middle 80's and then we're back up to near 90 degrees with that humidity thursday and friday. so again, just keep alert over the weekend and follow me on twitter. i'll be working tomorrow so i'll let you know if any
