another man. we'll have the latest throughout the morning as it continues to unfold. new overnight here in philadelphia, a man is in the hospital after he was shot on a porch in philadelphia's feltonville section. this happened around 11:30 p.m. on the 4800 block of north pailthorpe street. the man was shot in the chest and taken to the hospital in serious condition. no arrests have been made. >> 6:04. we know more about the shooting involving new jersey state troopers. an investigation is beginning after a 76-year-old man was shot inside his home by troopers. this happened while they were responding to a 911 call, somehow they ended up at the wrong home. jeff chirico has all the details. >> reporter: there are many unanswered questions about how this unfolded. gerald sykes family said he is a

loving father and grandfather and great grandfather who was trying to protect his home and his wife. the family is outraged as he shows us are the bullets that nearly killed his father-in-law. before midnight, sykes and his wife were awakened by their dog's barks. >> they went into the great room they saw two figures up against the front door. her step dad was standing in the living room holding a shotgun. >> reporter: after he collapsed on the floor he lifted the gun up and shot out the door, not knowing who was there. >> reporter: police are not saying who shot first, the family said he was treated like a criminal refusing to get him

medical treatment for 45 minutes until he staggered outside and collapsed, flipped him over and handcuffed him. the troopers said he identified himself and the family said they don't buy it, they said their father has a deep respect for the police. >> he said those were state troopers, they never gave me a warning and never said anything before they shot me. >> reporter: one of the officers was taken to the hospital with a graze wound and released. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." a fire burned an ocean county store on the 400 block of main street in west creek. firefighters were called to the scene yesterday evening. it took several hours to bring the fire under control.

bit of rain in a short period of time. we have several cells in the pine barrens and point pleasant beach in belmawr and southern salem county getting ready to push into cumberland county. this is in philadelphia county. this shade right here, this yellow is anywhere from 2 to 3 inches of rain again in 3 hours time. it's a lot of rain. it's producing localized flooding, street flooding creek flooding, it's pulling away and moving into jenkintown and cross over the delaware river into south jersey. the forecast for today, once the activity moves out, we'll see a little bit of a break in the action followed by more showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. high temperatures in the upper 80s, feeling like the low 90s. guys. turning to sports, the phillies wrap up their series with the braves in an afternoon game in atlanta at that.

investigators are heading to the scene to look into what caused the nation at single deadliest accident involving a hot air balloon. elizabeth hur is in texas with the latest on the crash investigation. elizabeth, what are you learning about the story. >> reporter: gray and alicia good morning to you. you come see it's pitch dark out here, we're in the middle of a farm handle which is why hot air balloons fly through the area all the time, but this has never happened. this morning the hunt for answers intensifying at the site of what is now the country's worst hot air balloon crash ever. >> you can see all their heads, lots of people in there. >> reporter: joe and other stunned eyewitnesses captured the picture of the balloon flying low over the farm handle.

minutes later, disaster leaving 16 people dead. >> first i heard a whoosh and a big ball of fire up. >> reporter: according to authorities, the balloon burst into flames saturday morning after possible hitting power lines and plunging to the ground in lockhart, texas. >> we have a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. >> reporter: the balloon operated by heart of texas air balloon rides. abc learned this was a large balloon meaning it could carry 16 people. so what went wrong? investigators say it's too soon for answers, but it was two years ago, safety investigators raised concerns calling for more regulation of the balloon tour industry, but the regulations were not increased by the faa.

first, you can see in berlin crossing over route 73, route 30. heading into medford lakes and tabernacle route 206 west of the circle there. you can see heavy, drenching downpours there. we are told they are receiving one to two inches of rain in the half-hour's time span that's a drenching downpour. farther to the south. western cumberland county pushing into bridgeton. we had cloud to ground lightning strikes with this. cumberlandy. and in bensalem and pushing into burlington county. here's lower bucks county, lower montgomery county and philadelphia county. this will drift off to the east
